Remove and Replace S14 Fuel Tank

S14 240sx Fuel Tanks are notoriously known for their leaking plastic fuel tanks. In this video, a car I built years ago, comes in because it's tank is leaking and the owner is having someone fix it, but for that the tank needs to come out. First we remove the subframe then the tank. After it is repaired, we reinstall everything and some new control arms and subframe collars.

We did a test before installing the subframe and there were no leaks. And the customer has been driving the car as his main transportation for a month now, no leaks. Will it last for ten years, only time will tell.

can't we just simply just put a steel or aluminum fuel tank or if that's not available a custom built tank? much better

You could but the s14 tank is oddly shaped if someone fabricated one for you it would work but be pricey tanks now you’re lucky to get for 600 if you have the money getting a custom fab tank seems like a permanent fix forsure
