  • How to teach a young horse to jump for the first time while making sure the horse is having a good experience? In this video you will see Maserati's first session when I taught him about jumping. You will see how to break this task down into tiny steps so that the horse can be successful and grow in confidence.

Gabi… all your training is such a joy to watch. Look at how happy and relaxed both you and Maserati are. Thankyou for your wonderful example of how to really enjoy your horse and for him to enjoy being with you too. You make it look so easy… but it’s the product of all the hard work you have put in with him. It’s been so lovely to have been able to follow you over the years. Xx

oh thank you Sherrie! This is so nice to hear - and yes, this is what I want to share with people: My joy and happiness horses bring me so that they are inspired and can learn to enjoy the same happiness. Because this is how we all want it to be, right?
Little Masi-Man really has my heart. Such a lovely man

I learned something new from this video.
I learned when I was teaching my boy to go sideways with pole under him. On the left side , perfect , circled around , from the right side,he was un confident. I calmy cirlcled him around , it just got worse. His head went higher, he was tense in his body, he was not waiting for my communication. Now I learned from you and your boy, stop, breath, bring both our engery down, and show kindess to the both if us. Thank you both 😊

Nice to see you making a game out of it, and him enjoying it and gaining confidence. My young horse is starting to feel better in canter ,but while she can trot for ages, she has a little trouble maintaining gait at canter. This will be a helpful excersise for us.She is a Connemara pony and seems to be super confident about jumping, and my arab pony really struggled to step over a pole to begin with🤣

Using little jumps can definitely improve your mares canter. Some horses will just trot fast if in fact, they feel rushed and aren't fully confident. So, you want to reward lots to build her self confidence. The little jump will help with the initial transition into canter and also give her a better feeling for her body while strengthening the hindquarters.
Tara was also suuuuper clumsy about jumping - still is. She still has trouble picking a canter on the ground.... she gets emotional so easily. Maserati is a totally different type. So self confident, it is a pleasure
