    08/25/2024 Amendment:
    Since the making of this video, Levoit has removed all marketing materials claiming that the Core 600S has a true HEPA filter. For this reason, we no longer recommend it.

    If you’ve never used an air filter these are great. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_dppjvjF8BYEmPSDTcgCUdRsgWYLXNHN I ended up with three after starting out with one. The noise level depends on the 1-3 settings with how hard you want the machine to work. You can also upgrade the filters and get one better for pet hair and smells which is a must have in my home. I noticed the air seemed lighter and easier to breathe when running the machine for the first time. Works great every time. Highly recommended!

    Are there any good 3rd party filters replacement brands?

  • @bennguyen1313
    @bennguyen1313 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Looking for a whole-house solution..
    Do any of the usual-suspects of popular models ( airmega 400 , medify ma-112 , nuwave oxypure , etc) have a filter replacement indicator that is based the actual state of the filter, not just the time it's been on? I imagine, a non-smoking house, lots of plants, and no pets versus lots of cooking/frying, cigarette smoke filled house will cause the filters to be worn very differently after the same amount of on-time.

    Love these videos, I know it's a newer model, but have you gotten a chance to review the Coway Airmega ProX? I recently got one after looking at tons of reviews, the main deciding factor was the noise for me, it maxes out at 46dB according to the website, and having had it, I think that is largely accurate on turbo (or manual speed 3). It also only uses 65watts, so it's very efficient. Obviously, the cost and size, and filter replacement cost is going to be higher than lower CFM units, but it felt compelling enough for my large space to go with it. The higher CFM can circulate more air, and intake larger particles that have a shorter dwell time, I'd love to see how it compares in your tests. Cheers.

    I want to buy one of these and place it right by apartment door to drown out noise from the outside (elevator, people talking) while also masking the inside noise to create a sort of privacy level. I know it won’t be much but anything will help. What do you recommend? I want to use an air purifier over a speaker because I want the benefits of purifying my air. I’ve heard a blue 605 before and it was pretty loud on high. Do any of these compare w.r.t noise?

    In practice the single unit filter on the Core600S is just fine.. i don't think it's "Low quality" at all. It's extremely easy to clean, a shop vac or home vac with a brush attachment cleans it up in about 30 seconds.. it looks brand new when your done. Do it once a month..

    Is it posible to rock one of this as a single unit for a whole apartment? (1,200 sqft) Looking at the 600s. Im just concerned my apartment has a long corridor (T Shaped) between the bedrooms and the kitchen/living room area. Would something like a pair of Levoit 400s (or similar) be better?

    • @consumer-analysis
      @consumer-analysis  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would recommend a 250 CFM unit (400S would work) for each room of the apartment over a single high CFM unit. During the day I would run the unit in the kitchen/living room. And during night time I would run the unit in the bedroom.

There's soot, vocs, etc me and my service animal are breathing. My lungs are on fire. What's my best option if I have to live in this apartment until I can find other housing. Considering the Winix 5500 is so popular I'd be curious what you think about its bigger brothers the 9800 and XLC. Both seem relatively well priced, in particular the 9800. I am primarly looking at the 9800 because of the Wifi TBH, I love monitoring such appliances from my phone.

    Surprised to NOT see the Winix Tower XQ in the list

    • @consumer-analysis
      @consumer-analysis  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I simply haven't tested it yet. Though it's unlikely that it would beat out at least the top two models I did test. It's a considerably worse value than the Levoit Core 600S (The XQ outputs at approx. 440 CFM but retails for close to $600 vs approx. 410 CFM at approx. $280 for the 600S) and it has considerably less airflow than the Medify MA-112 (approx. 440 CFM vs 560 CFM for the MA-112).

    Any chance you'd be able to review a Mila Cares air purifier? They had a lot of marketing buzz from being a kickstarter but more importantly, they claim a CADR of 447, and 3lbs of carbon filtering in one of their filter types. I'd value your assessment on said air purifier especially with all the forest fire smoke we've been getting here in Canada this summer. Thanks!

  • @tolisl5013
    @tolisl5013 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Unfortunately the correct order is mesh>hepa>carbon. Also fine or coarse prefilter doesn't make so much difference since when the actual filter mechanism develops, which is the dust layers, their efficiency is the same.

    • @escobar776

    I feel like this is concentrating on the wrong things, like CFM(putting most weight on this, it seems...) instead of the quality of filtering(VOCs, etc), the main purpose of these devices. Put a bad filter or remove it and you'll have the highest CFM, thus, "winner"

    • @0alejandromontes0
      @0alejandromontes0 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Any hepa filter is good enough to remove contaminants. All that matters is CADR. This is why a Corsi-Rosenthal Box can beat in many cases hepa purifiers.

    I owned the first version of the Leviot 600. They do not age well in my opinion. The slotted design leads to build up of dirt and oils that becomes impossible to clean. After about two years the unit developed a slight whistle which I was not a fan of. I ended up giving mine away to my parents who couldn't hear the whistling, and replacing it with one Airmega and a 5500-2.
