Protima epitomizes the true transformation. Seeing is believing. As a young graduate student in 1970s, hanging around Samovar in Kala Ghoda. Mumbai. I had an opportunity to view the glitzy, superficial literati set she belonged to. A friend of ours who attended a New Years party with the Bedis even shared how horrifying out was that the parents had gotten the toddler Pooja drunk on chanpagne. The transformation that began had many skeptics. It is such a delight to see that transformation was real. Self-actualization through dance and self-abnegation became her greatest legacies.
It's PROTIMA, actually. She is a beloved friend, she stayed with us on this trip, and yes, got a standing ovation at the University of Washington, with a VERY discerning audience.
What a reply by the great artist! A classical dancer using the art form to get into films is moving many steps down in their journey and not up. The film industry is full of such selfish hypocrites. They botch up the art form to make it more "popular " and later tell nobody has defined what is classical. There are many young artists who tore off the art forms to make themselves popular. Kathak is particularly affected in this aspect.
The interviewer tolerated the snobbery throughout the interview. I think that she carried it off quite well, never once being unnerved by this difficult personality.
@@athensmajnoo3661 stop being misogynistic. Husband had an affair with Parveen Babi. Protima begged for him to stop. He didn't. She took care of her children. Why should only the woman be responsible for children's upbringing?
Her son passing in 1997 and her disappearing in Manas Sarowar trip landslide can't be coincidence. She might have reflected her decisions and might have felt someway responsible for her son's mental health crisis. She was passionate and a daring woman but also a talented and responsible human being who helped herself to transform to who she wanted to be.. except lost her son during her journey to follow her passion. Not to blame her but ghosts of past do run after us no matter how accomplished and good we are.
Pooja beda is a star!?… hmmm 🤔 Well whatever she was in the past didn’t define her later part of the years. She definitely transitioned from 1 part of the world to another. Have to appreciate her dedication towards building her image and the classic art form from the so called cheap attention seeking glam world she used to be in.
Yes these so called empowered liberals cant stop death cant get everlasting life but befool people nd befool themselves God is the only immortal reality of universe
A great soul ! She lived her life the way she thought . A great artist !
Such refined English ppl had back then. Today's ya ya yo bro things has ruined people's personalities & their languages
So true
What an individual. Born to make a significant change in the attitude and viewing of our classical art. So outspoken and bold

Poor Pooja still always seem drunk. Her parents should not have had children. They were hippy and bohemian. Thats it.
Oh

She was Soooooooo beautiful man! If pooja was a film star by this time she would be in her 40s or 50s here. She looks GORGEOUS! 🙏
Lovly , listening to her,,,,Gairee Amma,,, Protima ji ..
Her bong lineage is the reason to be ahead of time other than her upbringing.
So Honest Human being

thanks you sharing beautiful interview..
Sad she died the way she did. Her body was never found. She died in a landslide. Protima was a woman of grace, strength and courage.
Wow, why don't we have women like these now a days😲
What nonsense! We have woman of substance today more than ever before!
What d hell u mean by women like her?
Women who left husband and small children for years to pursue their own interest.
@@athensmajnoo3661 stop being misogynistic. Husband had an affair with Parveen Babi. Protima begged for him to stop. He didn't.
She took care of her children.
Why should only the woman be responsible for children's upbringing?
Here after Alaya F's interviews?
I wanna slap the interviewer for continuously talking over here
Horrible. She’s the female Jimmy Fallon from the days of yore.
True...
Now she is a pure soul.. In heaven

The interviewer is not allowing Prothima ma'am to speak....
She was an interesting lady
Wish the host would have let Protima ji complete her sentences.. she was not paying attention and just cutting in between with another question
Respect u mam....
Wov amazing lady.
Bedi means loose motion in Kannada

This interviewer is so limited
Her poor son killed himself. Her daughter is still holding on. And these "bohemian" 💆♀️
She had her "calling" at the expense of her children
She was a piece of sh**t who ruined her marriage and the life of her children! Absolutely intolerable!
I heard about her juhu beach controversy. So cheap!
She said there is no place for God 😂😂😂baby where have you gone now?
Yes these so called empowered liberals cant stop death cant get everlasting life but befool people nd befool themselves God is the only immortal reality of universe
She said there is no God in her ejucational system and then she said she believes God in her way
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂So true
I mean what a foolish rhetoric question made this one was!...so you think God is waiting there for you as well...??
