Did I go too fast for you? ;)
helpful vid
As stated in the video I definitely am!
Grt video
No cuz it's been 5 mins you've uploaded this video ;)
Thnku man hope to see more such vedios in future from u kinda like a capsule where one can learn the basics so tht one can build up on it
Me: Watching in 2x speed to learn python in 37 minutes and 30 seconds.
Dang it Im three days late for this comment.
STONKS
Thanks for saving me 37 minutes and 30 seconds :).
Same hahah
Genius
Tim: This video is not for beginners.
Also Tim: Here's how to download Python.
@tarun. Yes but then they would be beginners XD
and what is an int? this was very beginner... he literally did a hello world example.
Ok fine but how the hell me, being a beginner i learnt half of that video in just 37min and pretty easy tbh. But i m gonna watch the rest tomorrow cuz my braincells are dying cuz its 3am and i lern python
@DJ Laser yes , you are right because a beginner needs to understand the basic elements of code .
@NGM UNIX I wasn't asking. I was pointing out that only a beginner would need to be told what an integer is...
Coming from Java and C, the lack of Semicolons simultaneously pleases me and disturbs me to my core.
Same
And indentation irritates me
* Screams in compiler errors *
There's no lack of semicolons. They are just not enforced.
YES!!!!!! One little semicolon on C++ and you have an error and all that code you're trying to find out what the error is and it's a damn semicolon
Being a Python programmer myself, I'm very much impressed with this video. I think you covered almost everything in less than 90 minutes. Impressive. I approve! haha
Wow, thanks!
You're a python programmer, how much ya takin in each year?
@@tedbunder2026 a entry-level good job would get about 90k a year and an experienced programmer could get 110k+ a year
@@crisstulltuims4769 Nice.. Beats stonemasonry
@@tedbunder2026 well internet is being used quite a bit so it is a good skill to have on your resume
In the speed of C you taught Python, BTW thanks for this video
Love this comment hahaha
Big brain time
@Rishit light would be faster, so not an unreasonable question lol.
C++ is faster I think lol
I'm a now retired software engineer. I used primarily Java from the mid 90's until 2016. I like to keep up with all things technical, and I've noticed that Python is making huge gains in a number of areas and uses. I first came across a highly rated Python video like this, but it was 4.5 hours long.
This video was exactly what I hoped to find. Very concise, not presented too fast at all for a seasoned vet of the trade. I've subscribed and will check back often.
Thank you!
Chad
Got a question. I want to learn both Java and Python, but my computer is real slow. I'm thinking can I learn these languages by downloading them on an external drive? I've heard of Python portable, but can I learn that and is that just as effective as the regular python? Or should I get a new internal drive with maybe 500 to 1 TB? Any help and direction would be most appreciated.
@@RobertSpiller boi its like 3 megabytes
@@RobertSpiller I think you should probably do some reading on computer basics.
First, why use a portable version? Your ide will take up more space than python will.
Second, why not just install the drive into your computers extra HDD or SSD slot to avoid having to carry it around?
And lastly, even if you choose to use it as a portable drive, you can still run python off of it as if it were a normal drive. Just add python to path and specify location. Doesn't matter where it is
What do you need Python for, now that you're retired?
@@RobertSpiller if you can afford it, get 1 TB and also, if your current machine will handle a 1 TB, if you have room, install more RAM, if your RAM slots are full, per your machine, might be able to ram sticks in higher amount..
Excellent revision tool for anyone with previous Python experience but needing a little refresher. I particularly like the annotations on the timeline at the bottom of the screen, which makes picking and choosing topics simple and convenient - great stuff Tim
This video was awesome. I've been trying to back to coding after getting slowed down by my depression. You laid this out very simply and covered a lot of things way better than other resources. Thank you so much for this video!
Same here bud. I've gotten better these days too and my motivation to get back on coding returns.
Ahh i relate to this . Hope ure doing okay now
Stay strong God Bless you
How you doing now
Maybe coding triggered your depression in the first place, who knows? Coding can be frustrating at times so it is something to consider if you're prone to depressions. Anyway, hope you're doing fine now and happy coding.
Who else already know most of this, but still watching this (:
Me lol (:
I know more than half

I wish this video existed before :p, it's probably best for people who have basic knowledge of programming but want to preview syntax and stuff
you cant finish in this video if you are absolute beginner but if you know something , its good resource.
Yaa that's True
which is pretty much me and it's super nice to have!!
Yes , I've been looking at improving my structure recall memory on syntax . I want to get more organized .
I've been looking for a way to refresh my memory on python (without going through 6 hours of tutorials) since I haven't done anything with it after learning it about a month ago... Thanks Tim💞💞😊
I love how eloquent and concise you are with your presentation. There are a lot of youtube programming "teachers" but no one who duplicates your streamlined and balanced approach.
Finally, a tutorial that I can have fun watching and still learn the language with ease and concentration...
thanks Tim, this is exactly what I need
I'm very impressed the fact you were able to condense that much information into an hour long video good job mate !
Thanks man, I've gone on a long break, so I forgot many essential stuff in Python, and when I tried to take a course, most of them were very slow and decades long, they were very boring and easy but this one is just a really good revision course.
big name
This is a great primer! Coming from Javascript and wanting to explore Python, the last thing I'd want to do is a tutorial for people just beginning to program as opposed to one focusing on syntax and intricacies of the language. I imagine that to complete beginners some things were very confusing, but people with experience appreciate this format. Thanks!
This is literally so amazing, I did javascript at university 2 years ago but never looked at python and aside from a few different syntax, this is a fantastic refresher
Thanks, man, I learned Python a while back and this was a good recap, much appreciated! :D
What an amazing video this is!. Thanks Tim for the work you put in and let us have access to such free but important content
I did python basics course few months ago but failed to keep using/learning it as I had other courses to do. This video was amazing for recap and to refresh my memory! Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
this is absolute genius, no time wasting, straight to the point! thanks a lot for putting this together
Your examples are very well thought out, they often show 2 or 3 potential outcomes of various problems at the same time. I love how you construct scenarios that show us how the code reacts in a variety of ways.
Thanks for your thoughtful lesson design
What you’re calling “chained conditionals” are more properly compound conditionals. Chained conditionals would be x < y < z.
How about combined conditionals on a single line for x < y < z ?
Java programmer here who was just assigned some python tasks at work. This was INCREDIBLY helpful! Thank you!
java programmer also, now assigned to python project. any tips bro?
@@TheHoudini775remember not to put type names before variables when defining them. If you want to be more comfortable look at “type hints”. Type hints looks like
`x: int = 4847`. Type hints provide better completions in your IDE.
This video was perfect for me! As someone who can code in java, this was a great way to pick up some of the basic concepts and syntax for using Python. I have been wanting to learn python for a while and even got a Udemy course, but it just felt like it was going very slow because its targeted audience was complete beginners. This video was fast, but at a good pace that I could keep up with. Thank you and I look forward to watching your other tutorials on more advanced topics!
Great for reviewing if you haven't used python for a long time! Great examples and clear explanations! Thanks Tim! Awesome!
Great video. As someone who primarily knows Java, a quick walkthrough like this is exactly what I needed.
same boat
Loved it! I needed to review some python to knock off the rust of my programming skills and watching this video at 2X did the trick. Thank you for your hard work.
I have been struggling for days going through lenghty courses trying to grasp the basics of programming and now... here you come and enlight my day in less than 90mn, ...Brilliant!! thank you
I didn't expect to actually would spend 75min watching this. Thanks so much Tim, you did an amazing job!
This is a great review for anyone who already knows python or is learning it!!
This tutorial was amazing, cool and concise. Thanks a lot and please make many others like this. Blessings for you.
I like how quickly and clear you went through each section, great video!
Best tutorial ever. I'm a complete novice with Python, but I use c++ and other languages. All other python tutorials I have come across are so slow, or too complex for my level. Whereas this covers everything from the very basics, but it isn't spending an hour explaining what a variable or a for loop is,. Perfect pace, very practical
This was what I wanted !!! Thanks a ton :)
Thanks Tim.. This is really amazing! Although, It was more of a Revision for me.. I loved it! God bless your heart TIM.. Thank you so much..
as a developer but not knowing much python, this is a great coverage of the language to get me up to speed, many thanks
Your work is amazing, I have tried so many different python tutorials and get bored quickly but there is something about the way you deliver it that keeps me interested and focused. Thank you for all you do, very much appreciated.
Thank you, I have learned a lot with your channel. Python is my favorite programming language and I want to get a job with it
Cool! No fluff. All important stuff mentioned exactly once. There are thick books that mention the same many times, confusingly rather than clarifyingly.
Very useful for me. I m a beginner who has been away from Python for few months, and I needed this quick refresher to shake of the rust and be confident to start writing scripts again. Thanks!
The video I needed! I got very excited when you began discussing sets and set-functionality (unions, intersections, etc, …). What a great introduction to Python development for experienced developers. Thank you!!
Good Video! You make my life easier with python, Tim 😁
Best revision guide and very snappy which intrigues me to continue watching. Just the right type of fast for me
Glad you enjoyed it!
I like this approach very much! When I learned my first computer languages I started always with getting an overview, and that is exactly what this video does. So I enjoy watching this, then stop, type in some of your code examples, play with it and test things, watch again until something comes up to play with. So, nice tutorial, thanks a lot!
This is fantastic. I have some programmning background in C and I have read several books on python but never got around to really using it. For me this is the perfect speed with just the info I need. I honestly wished there were more tutorials like this. Just about everything you see is either super beginner basic where folks get impatient or super advanced and folks tend to get lost. While not for everyone it is on target with a specific audience that is far larger than people realize.
Bro, I feel like you filled in so many holes in my python basics with just one video.
Thanks so much!
Thank you for this. There are so many python for absolute beginners there's not many that are for people who already understand fundamentals of programming. Sitting through lengthy explanations of how variables work gets old.
Thanks for this. In the process of moving over from PHP to Python and your vids are helping me get up to speed quickly.
The full programming language, in a nutshell, loved it. Looking forward to a similar video for Django.
Nice! I am working at Google now. Cuz of this video :)

Video works both as focused and diffused learning, i went through it a couple times and ever so often just have it on in the background as i workout...thanks for the video!
I've coded a little before but it was a long time ago. Really enjoyed your video to kind of brush up on what I knew and pick up the new stuff also. Most tutorials are so painstakingly slow going through the absolute basics, which is good but it's nice to have an alternative. 😁
No-one will read this, probably. But i wanted to put it here to motivate the guy who thinks he cant do it. I'm a complete begginner, Novice. Ive never code a thing in my life. I'm a green Newbie. or atleast I thought I was. I've been self teaching for a few weeks, but very very slowly. And I decided to watch this video to help introduce me to all the concepts, so that I have some exposure before i actually begin to learn them.
But I'm at the 30 minute mark, and there is VERY little that I've not been introduced too. And now he's moving onto else/if/elif, and ive learned this already too.
I just feel really accomplished, because it's something Ive always wanted to do, but never really gave myself permission to do.
I finished the video. Pretty much everything after 40 minutes was completely new. And I feel like I'll have a much better understanding of these concepts whence I start to learn them. I feel like I already kinda know them. But there's no way I can watch a 75 minute video and be a junior programmer. I'm excited for this journey.
hope your doing good in whatever your doing now 🙏
That was a nice little refresher.
How about Pandas & Numpy in 10 minutes? ;-)
This video was exactly what I needed since I already know C and most in-depth python tutorials go way too slow for someone that already has experience with C. Thanks a lot!
Perfect! So concise but covered all the important tpoics! Bravo!
So I was doing my Science and English homework and somehow ended up here........
@It's Exotic looooool
This is much faster than my internet speed.
Imma say it, the delicacy and value of this lecture almost made me cry, thank you brother.
This video is perfect! It goes fast, and that is a good thing. We can allways pause and go back of we miss something. Thank you!
I watched it even faster; done in 5 minutes...
"This is not for beginners"
"Anyway lemme tell you what an integer is"
I haven't used python for a while. I needed a refresher. Thanks tim.
Man just woke up one day and decided to dominate all the other 4 or more hours of videos on the TH-cam. Lemme tell ya, YOU NAILED IT !!

Dude! I watched this at 2x speed and just learned Python in 40 minutes! What an amazing little language. I've wanted these features for years. Finally, some simple advanced ways to manipulate data and no wasted extra symbols like var declarations or ;'s. Also I've always formatted by tab indentation in all other languages so no {, } for scope is so cool! Man, where have you been all my life Python? It would be great to do a video on anything bad or easy to do very poorly in Python. Awesome video! Subscribing for sure
Im so glad with the way you explained the if else elif, I began writing a code for fun but couldnt figure out why it kept printing "Great!" even when the statement was false lol but I finally fixed it as soon as i saw the tutorial for it!
Speed x2: Python in 40min 😋
Watched this twice because it's better than sitting through Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker!
Following along with this video before a python technical test just to recap and it's great, thanks for the effort!
that's what I needed. I didn't want to watch a whole course where they explain each thing for beginners because I need to learn python as quickly as possible and I already know the concepts. thank you really much.
As a new CIS student I have rewatched this 75 times. Thank you you Tim. Love the channel!
Hmmm, not sure that you want a potential employer to know that you've wanted/needed to watch this 75 times. That's not even a good look for fast food.
This video is so powerful, as a guy who has experience programing in C/C++, I always found those elementary Python courses too slow, not bearable, but this video quickly introduced how basic programing rules are realized in Python, I can really get the key points for Python in less than 1 hour!
Do you find Python of C++ to be more useful in your day to day life.
I already know everything, but I still watched this video. This video is really impressive and incredible, he doesn't waste time by explaining and turning around the principle, he just explains it straightforwardly and it stills understandable 👏
Well done Tim. This video was exactly what I needed as a refresher. Thanks!!
