    We installed a 35kw solar system 5 years ago. Cost $44k before any tax incentives. We have generated $29k worth of electricity at local rates. We bought 2 EVs and replaced propane heat with heat pumps. Total savings to date are $45k. 30% tax rebate brought our out of pocket cost to $31k. Finally, we live in a mountain valley, and our panels face east/west. Solar is a no-brainer sweet deal!

      What company did you go with? Everywhere I have spoken to wants $100k for a 13kW system. I know I can buy 10.85kW worth of panels for $2,000 and inverter for close to that so I plan on a DIY approach.

    • @andyfeimsternfei8408
      @andyfeimsternfei8408 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      @CWK09 I did it myself, as a licensed contractor, however, the $44k included all labor and materials. Contractor markups on solar are insane. Even 2x cost would only be $88k. Your material pricing shows this. We need more installations and more competition.

      @@CWK09 I ran into more troubles with my power company then ANYONE else, Only because I was putting over the "120%" rule for my area, They said I only needed 11-12Kw to break even. So I had to prove to them I JUST got an electric car, wasn't enough. Then I had to "promise" (I already was in the middle of) I would change my NG items to electric.
      The first year it made 8400 back this past 4 months just over another 2K only because the price of electric went back down to 13 cents.

      That's why knowing geography is important. You guys get way more sun then we do. Most of the northern part of of the U.S. is covered in snow in wintertime and don't get a lot of sun. In Florida and California it's understandable but in places like Ohio it's only about half the year to get great result's. Plus installation is very costly as well here in America.

    • @nhand42

      @@Ohiostategenerationx Where I live and half of Australia is the same we get solar radiation 4.81kWh average per sqm per day. In Melbourne its 4.19kWh. Now compare to USA in New York its 4.72kWh. New Jersey is 4.9kWh. California is 6.1kWh. Australians mostly don't live in the desert. We live in the temperate areas. There's no excuse.
      And labour costs in Australia are MUCH higher than the USA. Our labour costs are nearing the highest in the world. Even our minimum wage is four times yours. Again there's no excuse.

    We truly are at the epoch of solar prices becoming a realistic solution for a LOT more people. Especially if you build and install yourself. I have done it to part of my house (2 years ago) and it is dependably powering that part of my house 24/7. The batteries were the single biggest expense but they are dropping in price every single month due to the demand going up.

The federal government doesn't have this Constitutional authority and the government should not use tax policy to social engineering and push agendas. Many have tried without much success. The problem is, at peak, it's too much and degrades the cells faster, and other times it helps a little, but it's too difficult to get the reflection spread evenly on the panel. With panels as low as 50¢/watt it's more cost effective to just put more panels on.

    If you invest in solar and do what this guy did, you’ll be laughing just like he is.
    Watching people look at solar systems like a UFO is funny, and then they hear what their electricity bill is and they are envious.
