    Michigan fan here, just want to add how big of an impact this game had for us. We weren't just playing for THE GAME this year, we were playing for our overall reputation in the past 3. Been a sports fan my whole life and I've never been so excited about a dub. Much respect to the Buckeyes, they're a hell of a team and WILL be back once they figure some things out. At the end of the day it really just feels like we out coach them (cheating or not 😉) and execute better

    Michigan doesn't look flashy, they run the ball for those scrappy couple of yards for a reason during these close games.... time of Possession. They simply look at the clock and score and decide if its time to score or waste some time. Clock management is a big part of Michigan's game. Hog as much time as you can off the clock with the run plays and score when needed.

    Oh, hell. This game was competitive, and Ohio State didn't even have a decent quarterback.
    What coach could do better? Two, maybe three coaches in college football are at Harbaugh's level.
    Could Day have made a couple better decisions? Yeah, sure.
    Stopping Michigan's run game is not easy, especially late in the game. Michigan's offensive line is large, well-conditioned and disciplined. Wearing out defenses over the course of a game is what they do.
    What does this Michigan win tell us about the impact of Conner Stalions' illegal scouting in earlier games? Michigan did not have that advantage today, against the #2 team in college football.

    • @Wolverines77
      @Wolverines77 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Dude, for the 10,000th time, EVERY P5 school has a whole set of staff that scrutinizes every pixel of every frame of every play, INCLUDING signs and signals. The onus falls on any coaching staff not changing their signals going into ANY game you expect to be less than a double-digit margin of victory. If you are not updating your formations, changing your audible signals, and changing play calls a few times a season against personnel packages, you have a sub-standard coaching staff that needs to go back to Coaching 101 classes. With all of that being said, yes Connor Stalions broke the rules by thinking he could outsmart the NCAA bylaws by paying for non staff members to advance scout the game. If you honestly think that ohio either has only 100 plays or carries 500 posterboards with 6 or 8 pictures or logos on each one and has time to dig through every board, you are batshit crazy. At most, even with the advanced scouting, Michigan "might" have gained a slightly larger advantage on 4 or 5 plays a game. It all boils down to the fact that your 4 and 5 star laden first and second stringers were kicked in the teeth the last two years and were again to finish out the last 8½ minutes of this game today.
      To call McCord a "not decent" quarterback makes me realize just how radicalized ohio fans have become. Had this young man, whom 90% of P5 schools would LOVE to have as their starting QB, thrown a game winning TD, you would be handing him the Heisman Trophy right now. Get a life...

    • @Urgelt
      @Urgelt 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Wolverines77 as it happens, I am a Michigan alum.
      I brought up Stalions because all I have heard from Ohio State fans, the Big 10, and mainstream media is how Stalions boosted a 6-4 team to a national contender by cheating. Not by stealing signals, precisely, that is legal. But by sending scouts to games where UM was not playing. Everyone beyond Ann Arbor seems to be convinced that without Stalions' illicit scouting, Michigan would be barely above average.
      As you pointed out, *everyone" steals signals. It's legal. It's even legal to study videos of games. It's *scouting* which is illegal under NCAA rules.
      If Stalions was the secret to success under Harbaugh, then surely a powerhouse team ranked #2 in the nation would chew up Michigan and spit out the bones if Michigan couldn't use illicit scouting to gain an advantage.
      Nothing Stalions did could affect the outcome of Michigan v. Ohio State. Ohio State isn't stupid. They changed their signals.
      So it was an almost fair fight - almost, because Michigan couldn't have their head coach at the game.
      But Michigan broke the narrative. Without signals, without their head coach, they beat Ohio State anyway.
      We have to entertain the possibility that Michigan didn't gain much, if anything, from Stalions' scheme. They're just a really good team.

    • @nerdleturtle9365
      @nerdleturtle9365 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      yes the game was competitive with mccord at qb but you are wrongly attributing that to the absence of connor stalions and not the fact that michigan is surrounded by outside noise and without their HC and LB coach, best starting guard, best corner etc. there are so many other factors as to why this was a close game.

    • @Urgelt
      @Urgelt 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@nerdleturtle9365yeah, there are lots of reasons for the game to be close.
      At the top of my list is, they're both good, well-coached teams.
      I suspect Stalions' impact was always very small, if there was any impact at all. As has been pointed out here and elsewhere, sign stealing is legal. Everyone does it. Everyone knows it, and everyone changes their signs whenever they want to. Scouting is illicit, but how much advantage does scouting confer? Not much.
      The NCAA banned scouting as a cost-containment measure, not because it was a kind of cheating that was unfair. If the rich programs paid for scouts, *everyone* would feel pressure to pay for scouts. Not all programs have deep pockets.

    From a lifetime alumni of U of M, I could not disagree more (with all due respect). Head coach was well prepared for the 11-25-23 game. Execution was the key part of this game. You just eluded to D Sweeney has “fallen off”, so some assessment / reflection is worthy of discussion. This was one of the most razor thin games that had turns all over the place. Not coaching. Execution. Coaches on both sides were gutsy. I concede a call or two were a little conservative , but who knows? Respect to OSU. An exceptional team and white-knuckle brawl that could have gone either way. Good video.

    Don’t ever forget, Michigan Wolverines are the reason why Nick Saban ran like hell out of the Big 10 and joined the SEC. He just simply could not put coach Bo Schemblecher in those days and he had a huge advantage in recruiting because of Michigan State’s pathetic academic requirements.
    O Saint Nick knew if he joined the SEC he could have this huge advantage over every power 5 schools so he joined SC until he got to Bama.
    I don’t think Saban is a great coach because my Maize n Bkue has owned that guy my whole life. Yes they lost to Bama the last match but Bama wouldn’t dare step and visit the Big House, Nick was afraid of what taunted him and having those flashbacks so he wanted a neutral field and play at Texas. Lmao is that really neutral? That’s like Michigan saying get play us at Wisconsin so it’s neutral. I will give Alabama the most respect, they are 3-2 vs Michigan, Vols are 1-0. As for the rest like Fla Gators, Michigan owns the whole SEC and not once had Fla played at Michigan but all bowl games were played in Fla! Oh then another one at Texas called neutral again.
    When Michigan has offered SEC to rotate opening season and the SEC declined then you can’t say Michigan has a cupcake schedule. They tried to offer Bama, Vols, Gators, and so on.
    One thing Michigan can say is, they just won their 1,001 game, too bad the 1,000 th win wasn’t against Ohio State DumbNuts

    Knowles was too scared to send a blitz cus he had PTSD from last year, Day decided to kick a 52 yd fg when his long is 50, McCord put us in that position cus of the pick, then McCord seals the deal with another int. Day needs to give up play calling, either get a new qb or next one up, and get someone from the offense up in the box.

    I thought at the start of the year we would lose this game and probably two others. Why? Not because of our defense this year, but McCord.....he just is not developed enough. I kind of wish we had lost to ND and PSU that way this wouldn't have looked so bad. My biggest question is: do we hope next year he develops into an elite QB or look elsewhere? IMHO....look for another guy.
