Stay with your dad as much as possible. My mom had cancer in 2014. She Beat the odds lived till June 27.23 the last 4.5 i years in nursing home in Amherst NS. I remember all the fun and Happy times. She was and will for ever be my inspiration in life. The last day after being released from Amherst hospital. After a short visit after she had aspiration pneumonia . She seemed to be doing very well. On Thursday they put her back on oxygen. At nursing home but seemed good. I got a call that Tuesday June 27. They said her vitals were ok. But she wasn't responding to them. I left work headed for there. As soon as I walked in The room . I know she was having hard time to breathe. But like a tough as nails person she always was. She started to talk to me the nurse couldn't believe it. She said don't leave me behind , always keep me with you. I said I'll be right back I knew they sent blood test off. I decided to get funeral arrangements set up knowing that the aspiration pneumonia. She had could still take her later. An hour after I got everything taken care of. Thinking she might not last a month. I went back up to gables. Walked in the door to her room she was sitting up with her little teddy bear in her hand but she was pale. I walked over run my hands threw her hair said I will never forget you I'm so proud to be your son we will be together again. Best buddy. Told the nurse just outside the room she gone. It's been said when the body dies in the first hour they can still hear our words. Her headstone is in economy NS with both our names. Up top buddy's forever with teddy bear in waving. I never face death till that moment. I think about her a lot this year because of a accident I had in Springhill 26 years ago . That had me as close to dead as possible. I had drove in so far down in my memory it all these years never resurface till this January at a first aid course we took . the lady had been in a car accident the year before. Had a concussion. She said she felt so helpless. I seen every way she moved every thing that was off. I wished I had stayed after course to tell her to get better help because I went home and cryed my eyes out my ghost that had been buried was back. It had set off all the trauma I lived that summer I got hurt. When my head got smashed. And pressure built up. It was all over town that I had died a the job . I had very hard time returning to work then . They didn't think in Moncton I would last a week or a month because the way I'm Wired with out finishing myself off because that couldn't tell how bad the trauma was going to be with me. Well God gave me a second chance at life. I got breathing again. But they still didn't think I was going to live to Moncton by ambulance. So this coming back is different because all those years I thought I had protected mum she was saving my life. I was never the same that summer. When my ghost of 98 gives me flashbacks I fight it . I'm 55 now . I have the same drive she always had and that demon. I may never be able to unload this time so I went back walking every day and pushing the weights like I did back then. Found music like this that gives me inspiration. I do what my mom did her whole life look for the happy things . Sometimes it's the most obscure thing like walking trails in economy NS next to where our headstone is at economy point Rd. As I walked them this summer I got near the water on the cliffs and felt so relaxed and ear buds in . I felt so at piece and my eyes water alot there but like my mom. I'm looking for my happy place to take my mind off 98 accident. I pray for your dad. It's hard. You being with him is as good for you as it is for him. These memories latter will be some of your most Cherished memories. I live my life everyday with something my mom said the over the years. Think positive, never give up. God bless you and your dad.
I was in Baku for his concert and I was lucky enough to meet a man there who almost realized all my ideas about feelings between people. I have never felt so loved, this man looked at me as a gift of life. And I just couldn't believe that this was happening to me. Thanks to IG concert which gave me more than I expected from this trip. I will never forget you my "Above Ground".
I wish I could still experience a world where people will spread love and we can trust each other and help each other. I think it can be done, you just have to change your mindset. Thanks for the many lovely likes and reactions. I am in remission (although the cancer is incurable) and I am determent to stay as long as possible among my family and friends. I am a great fan of Imagine dragons. At the evening - after the specialist told me that i have bone marrow cancer - i went with my wife to a candlelight string concert playing coldplay and imagine dragons songs. A memory of a life time!
