    Chiang mai is the best place. You don’t need the beach to enjoy the wonderful things that you will remember

      Thx Cpn. Normally not a huge 'let's go look at flowers' type but completely enjoyed both the mountain top and the Botanical Gardens. They had an entire building just for orchids of every flavour but had to cut it to just a brief shot to keep vid not overly long (still ran 25 mins, bit too long)

    • @SideTripLife
      @SideTripLife 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hopefully Thailand can have enough locals vaxxed in key areas to allow access for more vaxxed arrivals by Oct Possibly phased in starting this summer (likely to selected areas/from selected areas to start). Regardless, things finally appear to be going in a better direction.

  • @johndeprusa2639

    That re open plan is doomed to fail for the reasons you described: Not enough people will bother to go through a complicated visa process and 7 days quarantine for a vacation to motivate entrepreneurs to reopen entertainment businesses. The few people that will come will find deserted towns

    • @SideTripLife
      @SideTripLife 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 7 day instead of 15 day quarantine is proposed to start next month. Then 'phase in' elimination of quarantine by Oct. My main concerns are how many Thais can be vaxxed prior to Oct and what restrictions may there still be if any (ie zoned access to places where max local vax achieved - say Phuket, Samui etc). But of course a Thai vax program must also prioritise the elderly regardless of location, plus health & safety personnel nationwide. This is all very challenging but I wish all well with phasing in reopening.

      Apologies for that. I just click 'yes' and let YT do its thing. The payout is a pittance but every bit helps keep the channel going, plus keeps the platform free to view.

  • @Neednoy2
    @Neednoy2 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    What do you mean by "unworkable quarantine" ?

    • @SideTripLife
      @SideTripLife 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Was referring to the push back one reads about online (particularly from wannabe shorter term visitors). Of course 2 week quarantines work well as a defense but not so much for enticing visitors. Having said that, if desired lack of measures had resulted in huge spikes etc, ironically few of those wanting lax measures would want to visit anyways. Last and for the record, I think Thailand has done a great job overall and I've felt grateful to have been here throughout this.

    Like your Chanel but Soooo many ads.

    • @SideTripLife
      @SideTripLife 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Again... apologies for that. I simply click 'yes' and let YT do its thing. The payout is a pittance really but even a small bit helps the channel. Also, thee's some conjecture that clicking 'no' may cause vids to get fewer views. YT does also offer a site-wide no-ads platform called TH-cam Premium (note it quotes 159 baht hereabouts, not sure elsewhere): th-cam.com/users/premium
      Haven't tried it as I don't mind ads when I watch vids knowing it pays to keep the platform free and helps creators (somewhat). Hope you get that sailboat channel going again, love the genre. Currently following Sailing Nahoa, Sailing Fair Isle and several others:
      Sailing Nahoa: th-cam.com/users/SailingNahoavideos
      Sailing Fair Isle th-cam.com/users/SailingFairIslevideos
      Cheers

    • @SideTripLife
      @SideTripLife 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry bout that (again). I simply click 'yes' and let YT do whatever. Word is clicking 'no' to ads means vids get recommended less. Makes sense really as like 'free' TV, of course they need commercials or subscriptions to pay for the service. YT pays a pittance but every bit helps the channel continue. So thanks for watching as far as you could. Cheers
