    This is the kind of video that is the best thing about TH-cam. You have set a high standard of presentation with very informative content. Can't thank you enough for this. Especially with this module, the 1005 which is a very tricky subject with condensed logic.
    For beginners you have made a reference work to navigate these concepts. I noticed a comment further down talking about chords and tuning. This is an excellence subject as you know and is much more important than we can imagine. It is the basis of how we perceive this part of the electro/magnetic spectrum called sound.. Harmonics are the things that help us discern one sound from another. This module is a great playground for discovering tuning.
    The thing that really blows my mind is that you can create at least 3 tones with 2 oscillators and then send that through something like the 1047 filter and you have sonic heaven on earth. Its a great ride! Cheers

    Well done! A lot of people criticize Behringer, but they are making entry into Eurorack more affordable with some fairly sophisticated modules.

      Not only that, but they're making recreations of entire modular ecosystems that the average player has never even touched, and they're doing it at an unreal price point.

      Yeah, I started my Behringer modular journey about a month ago with the System 15 and loving it. Quality of their synth' gear seems fine to me, no issues, I also have their Odyssey and Monopoly.

    Excellent review! The 1005 is probably the most unusual "ring-mod" ever, but is great for it. This was designed back in a time where there wasn't a lazy path to follow, it was breaking new ground. Many of the 2500 modules contain functionality that is lacking in modern more genereric designs.

    I love your descriptions of the functionality of these modules, a first port of call for making a decision about purchasing . Thanks for your work it's certainly influenced my decisions.

    Great explanation and demonstration. I think the Ratio and Tune knobs add a lot of functionality to this module. Thanks!

    Thanks for sharing what you've discovered with your homework :D This module intimidates me more than the 1036 S&H module lol. Probably the math behind ring modulation.

    Great review, wasn’t aware of the two o/ps or the gate function-already got the 1047 filter which is very good.

      @@synthesizer83 I saw the rest of your 2500 videos, very informative! thanks. I learned about just intonation back in 2006 with the original Monomachine. It has a chord generator oscillator mode that can be set in just intonation intervals. This delivers a more "pure" chords without beating

    thanks for the extensive review. i would like to confirm however if the modamp can do amplitude modulation!? my guess is it would be in unmod mode using the cv-in? can you confirm this?

    • @synthesizer83
      @synthesizer83  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the cv-in controls the VCA. It doesn't matter if in mod or unmod, the VCA is downstream of the ring modulator and always in the signal path.

    • @synthesizer83
      @synthesizer83  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, that's the voltage control input for the VCA gain. Same effect as turning the big gain knob.

  • @MatthewChristianMurray

    Is it possible to use something like this without having any other Eurorack equipment? I have other synths and such, so I would assume I could just use it with normal synths?

    • @synthesizer83
      @synthesizer83  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You may want to check the voltages before you do. Eurorack supports up to 10V peak to peak in the audio range and control voltages typically have a -8V to 8V range. If this fits on both ends, you should be fine.

    Are the Ratio and Tune knobs make same as if i tweak oscillators pitch knobs?

    • @synthesizer83
      @synthesizer83  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, but they do it in a more "controlled" way than tweaking both pitch knobs by hand. The tune knob keeps the ratio (offset) between the VCOs constant and changes the pitch of both VCOs simultaneously. The ratio knob changes the offset between the two VCOs.

  • @WaveRiderMusic
    @WaveRiderMusic 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    wow, tough nut to crack. It can also just used as a vca right?

    • @synthesizer83
      @synthesizer83  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yep, in unmod mode you can just feed your audio signal a through the ring modulator to the vca and control the gain with the cv input.
