This is the review i was looking for..
On point !! Great review and thanks
This has to be one of the best camera comparisons I've seen. The reviewer is very knowledgeable about photography.
amazing s8
Hello #Macworld or anyone could you please tell me which one is right colour background colour of Harrahs(lower one) , iphone shows black and s8 shows purple , .😱
s8+ is just beast
This was a great comparison, very well done. Apple needs to up its game for next round of iPhones. Samsung has been winning the past few years in the camera category.
Did you use the second lens of iphone 7 plus when you shoot long distance object? If you use first lens, of course your object is blur if you zoom in. And no deny about the color contrast from samsung is sharper.
i like the menu mode too cause i dont wanna exposed all the phone apps at hand when its in a home mode screen.its too complicated for me. i want it to be smooth and organized
Both phones are great phones. They just excel at different categories. Samsung in display and camera, iPhone in software and user experience.
Phanteus tbh since the 7 plus has a double camera, I'll take it over any other phone!
Note8 comes with even better dual cameras and the phone gets released in a week.
Ruben Verkerk just because it has 2 camera doesnt mean it has a better camera
"user experience"? I don't know so much about that one. I switched from Apple to Samsung just about 2 months ago, and it was the best decision I ever made phone-wise. The only reason I can think of iPhone having better user experience is because they think it makes them look rich with their basic designs that are well outplayed. I'll admit, I do miss the security of browsing the internet through iPhone; I don't know how well Samsung's security is.
I subscribed to you due to the very comprehensive, detailed, structured comparision. I LOVED IT! I do request another point which is very severe: indoor photography with medium lighting. My Galaxy S8 underexposes the shadows when compared to my iPhone 5S (YES, AN 5S!!!!!). The S8 shot indeed is much more clear, sharp, natural BUT the shadows are underexposed. I tested this with HDR ON, HDR on Auto and HDR turned OFF...in all cases there was too much contrast which caused the blacks to get clipped early on. Thus I went into pro-mode and reduced contrast by only ONE-STOP and viola! The shadows are now properly exposed! And then again, this much hassle in this specific scenario against the ancient iPhone 5S!
Yeah, I did notice that as well I just didn't point it out in the video. Samsung still has a long way to go in their processing.

Hi! I have also noticed this issue with mine! I am trying to duplicate the setting that you used to correct. Are you saying that you took the contract down one hash mark, or down all the way to -1? Thank you for any help you provide!
We need more honest reviewers like this guy!
Excellent effort and elaborated very well.... Keep it up....
Adam, I understand most people will be using the camera on auto. But tapping to focus/spot metering is not complicated and I'm sure the average user will tap to focus and use spot metering to manage the exposure once they open the app. Opening the app and not tapping to focus is absurd. Thanks for the video, though.
Guys after coming from an iPhone to owning an S7 edge (a slightly worse camera than the s8 albeit mostly the same) for 1.5 years, let me give you my two cents.
You may see here (and in comparison videos of other Samsung to iPhone cameras) that the Samsung supposedly looks better due to it being more vivid. This is definitely true. In many circumstances the Samsung photos look way better than the iPhone counterparts. However, when viewing from the phone display, I'd have to say that on average, they don't (at least in my opinion). Personally, I prefer colour accuracy over vividness, and combined with the poor accuracy of whites on Samsung displays, it leads to the Samsung photos very often looking completely different to what the scene looks like in real life. Often this can lead to a positive effect - but keep in mind that it is much easier to edit a natural looking photo to look vivid than a vivid photo to look natural. This is an unpleasant fact I've learnt over the past 1.5 years when I take photos of fields of grass etc (lots where I live) and the colours are totally off with Samsung.
In regards to low light, S7/S8 also look a lot better on the rear camera in most of the shots. However, once again, when you view it from your display (up close) you will see that the S7 and S8 overcompensate with softening to remove the noise. This is particularly awful in the front facing camera (for those of you who use Snapchat, like me, it is IMPERATIVE you keep this in mind). This results in people's skin being blurred and plastic looking. It is extremely annoying and consequently I have been primarily taking selfies with the rear camera for the past 1.5 years just because I don't want to look like Woody from Toy Story. You can turn this off with AOSP roms, albeit it means you no longer have many of the benefits of the S7 and S8 (such as the very often fantastic processing in good light.) Don't get me wrong it's a fantastic camera! Just pointing out some of the negatives. I also want to include that Android optimisation on apps like Snapchat are, quite simply put, fucking dreadful. They crush the detail in your photo (that you can see as it happens live, when you press the white circle). It is a shame, as the Samsung very often performs fantastically but this is often ruined by certain apps. We've all seen the Snapchat on Android memes and I can confirm that even with (arguably) the best Android camera, the memes still have an element of truth to them. This is a problem you don't get on iPhone - due to the CEO of Snapchat sucking Apple's dick but also the fact there are a limited number of iPhone models which can be easily optimised (compared to the almost infinite number of Android models).
When zoomed in, it's pretty obvious the iPhone 7 Plus has an advantage due to the telephoto lens. That being said, the Samsung cameras are great at retaining detail. The problem is that strong noise very often does show up due to the heavy sharpening (completely opposite to in low light situations!). It retains detail but doesn't look as natural. I think that's a key thing to remember here: the iPhone is natural vs the Samsung which is more enhanced. It's up to your discretion as to what you prefer.
I hope this has been somewhat informative. Please note that I am in no way trying to 'bash Samsung' and I'm not an 'iPhone fanboy' - in fact the very opposite. I LOVE Android - the customisation available, the fluidity, the ability to completely change the experience of the phone you use every day. I just want to let prospective users of the Samsung know that despite how good it may seem, TH-camrs typically hype it up. So many people told me before getting a Samsung that they aren't as good (which pissed me off due to it clearly being better in many aspects, including the camera I believed). They said I'd go back to an iPhone - and although it makes me sad to admit it: I was wrong. I will be going back to an iPhone. Once again, I hope this was useful.
Finlay Morrison what do you use now
Samsung Galaxy S8 Best

Samsung S8+ is so much better
Ananke Yeah. You are right!
Ananke no
samsung s8 must versus with iPhone 8+ .. not iPhone 7+
David Machsam
Where's iPhone8+ now?
David Machsam I'm so sorry for apple fanboy. Samsung Note 5 (2015) is soooooo much better than I7+ (2016) too.
This is my test..
Check it out. Upper is Iphone7 plus
image.ibb.co/cipj5Q/1500818727539.jpg
please make comparison about recording video 4K, I assume galaxy defeated
Bambang Yuliyantoro no way
Are you a professional photographer?
More like amateur professional ;)
Adam Patrick Murray true lol ! He sucks
Nicely done 👍
S8+ is best of the best in all things, thanks.
Damn this production value is amazing.
can't even believe I considered getting an iphone
love this review af
The comparison isn't completely fair. The 7 plus has two cameras Wich u can use to make portrait shots. The Samsung doesn't. Should've compared with the iPhone 7 not the plus version
What about potrait man
Watching on my S8 really superb camera
S sasng is better than iPhone but there is no logo on the back side, apple and that logo is enough for entire world
S8 !!!!!!!!
i think the camera of your iphone had a problem because i have used s8plus and it was my worst camera experience, even iphone 6s camera was performing good than samsung s8plus
I have a Galaxy S8+, I love it.
Poor Apple.
In every comparison I see, both the Pixel and the Galaxy S8 literally kill the iPhone 7 Plus.
galaxy s+ is beter then any phone out there! beter then iphone 8 or any other iphone, but not sure if its beter then note 8
Samsung is better than iphone
s8 win
Well, I had in the past iPhone 4 and 5S, moved to Samsung S4, LG G5, S6, S7 Edge and S8 (2 times) and now im using iPhone 7 Plus. Getting clear, iOS does win againts Android if u don´t mind having a more "closed" OS system. BUT i u do mine I would stay on Android. i kinda miss my Apps on android and sometimes iOS sounds so dificult to use... ye but the perfomance and overall experience is soooo great. Sadly my S8 had a better screen and WOW alote better camera. If u like to watch movies, using camera and playing, well, get the Samsung S8/S8+ or wait for the new iPhone. If not, iOS makes u cry to wanna it on Samsung. It would be safe to say that a perfect Smartphone would be a Samsung all over with iOS sistem. Damn, u would be perfect :P
This was the last thing Android manuf's had to beat out on the iPhone...I despise iPhone but they always have had the best camera
I don't want to start an argument, but the REAL comparison comes when YOU get to know a bit better HOW to set your phone's camera to obtain better results. Have you thought of PRE Lock exposure & auto focus before shooting? Those are the two basic principles that I use with my Ipod5 (and I'm NOT promoting Apple here) One great thing about Galaxy8+ is its elegant style & screen colors. Also I've seen images taken with it and they really beat by far in vibrancy the Iphone7+.
I still haven't get to 4K (it won't make me a better photographer or put me on the range with George Lukas) But when talking about 1080 video, guys, let me tell you that even my Ipod5 beats many a top, overpriced camera on the market.
So, for the illustrations you show here, they reflect in general the kind and nature of what an average Joe will be taking. Therefore I believe both machines will over please the user's basic & stupid needs.
I mean we are talking here about using these machines to register souvenirs of an event or a daily life situation where people are showing tit & tongue, uh? Or creating the next viral, stupid video for social media, no? Who the hell needs this over amount of quality just to keep himself busy texting and saying LOL every 30 seconds?
We are living the age of science of the stupid.
manny quinn i dont uderstand where youre going here.
Hahahaha, don't make me laugh, my s8 in 2020 camera doesn't looks good as in the video...
All videos are fake i have s9plus i compared it to i7 plus men the iphone is million times better
Bad test , what about zoom quality and which phone can zoom in more ? Why didnt tell us about that yes because in this categorie the 7plus wins , portrait mode is so much better than selective mode on s8 , colors on 7plus much realistic , ois works on video mode on iphone little bit better the s8 had only better low light pictures , faster af , and sharper images because software processing on s8
Double G I'm so sorry. Digital zoom in S8 is better than Optical Zoom in I7plus im tested.
Older Samsung like Note 5 (2015) is soooooo much better than I7+ (2016) too.
This is my test.
Check it out. Upper is Iphone7 plus, lower is note 5
image.ibb.co/cipj5Q/1500818727539.jpg
Metallica TV did smoke animals ? Digital zoom on s8 better ???? Wtf hahahahaha little kid go to bed its late
Your test is absolutly fake 7 plus had best zoom in a smartphone :) iv e tested with s8 s7 sony xzp 7plus beat them all pls dont write that bullshit
Double G i still prefer the S8
all the way you say s8 takes the winner place, but i picked up Iphone7 plus all the way on the photos. so natural and beautiful shots by iphone, but s8 always gives extra saturation or contrast and it ruins it. i dont like over saturated, over colored shots and i think this is about preferation. I prefer Iphone is the king!
Most of this testing does come down to personal preference, most definitely!
-Adam
Plis hello yes pue you espain por plis
So you're telling me that with the f1.8 apature a new sensor optical zoom a new flash and optical stabilization and a wider color gamet and the iPhone still lost man Samsung you really are stepping up your game
Software trumps hardware now-a-days, just look at the Google Pixel's HDR+.
-Adam
The orst part of comparison is S8 vs i7. Man you should compare S7 vs i7 or S8 vs i8. We all know when it comes to same generation Samsung sucks...
Cities of India s8 and iPhone 7 were launced in the same year. Similarly, the S9 and iphone 8/X are currently the company's top flagships. So the comparison is justified.
Samsung galaxy s8+ is the best❤❤❤❤❤🤙
S8 better in any way
@Portrait mode
Why a lot people still buys iphone even samsung has much better camera
My dream phone! But impossible!😂😂😂😂
S8 and Note8 = 2017

Check out our testing and see what you think: th-cam.com/video/pRQ7tWyA5NQ/w-d-xo.html

macworld I saw your video comparison of g6 and Pixel (nice vid) but I still prefer true colors of Pixel. I am iPhone 7 user (shoot in RAW and then calibrate in Lightroom) and I can't stand over-saturation and over-sharpening on majority of Android phones (Samsungs and g6 do it a lot), but I really love Pixels quality. Colors and HDR+ are very good.
Macworld why there are no video for G6!!
s8 hands down
#FeelsGoodMan
s8 PLus much better
If you want to find good and quality camera just buy Sony phone bacause Sony make iPhone camera.
Still I love 7plus
Lg g6 is good but s8 is way better what the hell do he think he is say the G6 is better
Ayfon👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I phone
Iphone good color interpretation, poor quality image
S8 plus
this video is sponsred by samsung
Esto es feik tengo el s8+ u el 7plus le gana sea correcto
S8 better
Team Samsung 👌
iphone camera sucks...
Samsung is the best
Dear God...lol
Still an Android always an Android
What a completely bias and manufactured comparison...How does one do a camera comparison with the 7 plus and not talk about the dual cameras and it's capabilities...What about video?....Why are we dismissing color accuracy in the name of cartoony photos...The realistic pictures that the iPhone takes are just breath taking....Then to add insult to injury you say the G6 is better than both...Completely discredited yourself with that statement...Then not even mentioning the pixel..Baseless review
samsang will boomsakalaka
Samsung👎👎👎
My NOKIA beats both cameras 🤣😂
Samsung betar
this is not real
Mh Mahi yeah ik the s8 would've easily won every single picture.
iPhone overall best. Love it’s more accurate colour. S8 can be comical...
