I think that whether or not something is explained by the end of a story matters often much less than how they get there. I don't just mean that in the cliche "it's the journey, not the destination" kind of way, although I guess that's part of it. Most of the fun in a cliffhanger-y show is trying to figure it out, not just in finding the answer. It can definitely be unsatisfying not to get an answer, of course. Someone recommended a show to me that I absolutely loved, but it was canceled after the first season, and I kind of wished I hadn't watched it at all. The thing about it, though, was that we had so little information at that point. If there had been a couple more seasons, maybe we would have had enough to make actual, reasonable guesses. There would have been something worth discussing. Instead, we were barely introduced to what the mystery was to begin with. I think the trick is often to give enough clues that the audience can think they have the answer, even if it's really left open. People are still discussing theories about Twin Peaks because there was so much to discuss! They've enjoyed the show for years after it ended. People are certainly allowed to not enjoy that, but for those who do enjoy it, I think that's the difference between a good mystery and a lazy one.

My country is WALES, and my neighbour is ENGLAND. If you're saying that I can't fly my flag after so many years of oppression then you can honestly jog on with that opinion. The Union Flag deserves to burn.
Pyrion so triggered me, he does not understand the democratic republic system we have is nothing like the constitutional monarchy they have. So it matters so much more which party is in power. ( man we need a third party to avoid the voting for the lesser evil instead of the best candidate situation we have now) Of course if he did understand it his anxiety would be so much worse. So I just need to remember it’s tri-force and they talk out their ass all the time, and not let him trigger me
Firstly, I do want to say that I’m sorry Pyrion’s friends had to go through that bullshit by some of the extreme Brexiteers. That shit is vile, and he’s right that should not happen to anyone, and anyone who does do this to other people is full of shit. Secondly, as an American, I’m afraid I don’t see an issue with people waving or displaying the English flag? I always just assumed it was no different than waving/displaying a US state’s flag (may be unusual, but nothing outwardly harmful about it). However, since I’m not from the U.K. I would be thankful to hear a U.K. person’s take on it, whether if it is used as a hate flag or is just a peculiar thing about Lewis. I can see his revulsion to the more controversial Confederate flag though (I myself dislike it too) and absolutely no sane person should be waving around a German swastika flag. I tend to try to skip the political talk in these episodes, but these two got me thinking.
nope, they constantly rage and shit on the Americans president just like all of Twitter and Reddit then they fucking act all innocent like they never said anything mean or wrong
He really is right. When you have Trump who has never done anything conciliatory at all during his president, whose supporters make it a point to "make libs mad/cry" and Trump getting rid of anyone with a differing opinion than his, why should we not celebrate his departure? His election has caused white supremacist groups and racist cops who have no right being in the service, to act more bold, his election has caused 300,000+ Americans to die of COVID and his election has allowed the questioning of American democracy all the way up to mainstream politics.

Luis, skip the movie. It's laughably bad. The movie was so melodramatic and told a story that had been told over and over in the show. Pyrion, Lynch is a storyteller. There's a reason for everything on the show. It's not just randomness thrown on screen. There's a lot of symbology. Not everything is literally as it appears. Sometimes it's just what the characters perceive of some kind of abstract thing or idea and you have to pick up on the themes and patterns that become more apparent episode to episode to get an idea of what Lynch was trying to convey.
I 100% disagree about the movie and think it's brilliant but even outside of that, skipping it kneecaps you for a majority of The Return since so much of it revolves around stuff introduced in that movie. Good or bad, Fire Walk With Me is essential viewing.
I don't see why there would be a problem with the English flag, but not the Union Jack. If anything, and I don't actually believe this anyway, the Union Jack would be the bad flag as it is a lot more associated with the British Empire. England individually never did much except go to war with France.

As someone from Northern Ireland I can very much relate with the whole flying flags relating to biggotry etc from both sides of the Irish/British persuasion, although to answer you guys I would say that the Union Flag is used as a represenation of proud protestantism as opposed to the england flag for the most part.
what if you english and proud to be english? cant you use the english flag
Suprisingly enough most people in Northern Ireland aren't English.
As someone from nothern Ireland I hate all the party's and consider myself northern Irish rather than English or Irish I think that the same thing with flags apply here too where there is no northern Irish flag and both the Irish flag and British flag are hated by someone
I feel like there's some kind of difference between when someone flies the English Flag and the Welsh or Scottish flags, probably because there's quite a bit of racist or far right baggage associated with it, but less so with the other flags. From my own personal experience people that fly the Union flag or the English flag are way more likely to be racist or right wing nationalist than people that fly the Welsh and Scottish flags.

The "England Flag" is a problem.... jesus.
Yep. Typical low-IQ labor party voter.
Since when did the England flag become a problem? Wtf!?
People who feel the need to fly the flag of the country they live in for no other reason than pure nationalism are compensating for something for sure. Obviously there's nothing wrong with a flag used at a sporting event or competition to show who's with who. Its the context that matters
@@deetvleet Why not? Symbols such as flags unite people and give a sense of community in this cold, money driven world.

I don't think it's our place as brits to comment on the politics of americans, and I'd imagine most brits think the same the other way. We can't understand the experiences/influences which have shaped their politics and beliefs. Entitled to an opinion of course but best not to pass judgement imho

I'm not English so maybe there's some cultural thing i'm not aware of, but it seems sad if people can't wave their flag without being labeled racist. What's wrong with the English flag?
Same sort of thing as “America First”. The actual English flag (🏴) is not used in any official capacity by the state. It’s a symbol of the oppressors.
@@Wyattporter what about at sport events within the UK?

The language that should be my first language was beaten out of kids many years ago in schools, shamed for using it and were told it was a pointless language. I still hear that kind of stuff today. Despite that though, my country has got a rich history, a rich culture, and we are very tolerant of people. We are even tolerant of our neighbours that oppressed my country for hundreds of years.
So I just need to remember it’s tri-force and they talk out their ass all the time, and not let him trigger me
this claim about election results is disputed

Kind of. You'd probably best finish it before listening to the rest cause they mention all sorts
Exactly Lewis, people expect closure, so finish the bloody SOI! 🤩
Pyrion’s predictions outdated lol

@@AquaAtia covid deaths are on the state officials, not the president. random comments from supporters online are meaningless since they represent a fraction of actual people (on both sides). every president gets rid of other politicians they don't like or disagree with its part of the job. also, I would like to see these white supremacist groups you people talk about since i have seen little to no real evidence of them being actual white supremacists
@@5DollarGaming I suppose that's a good point.
Luis, watch it just the one time.
I don't see why there would be a problem with the English flag, but not the Union Jack. If anything, and I don't actually believe this anyway, the Union Jack would be the bad flag as it is a lot more associated with the British Empire. England individually never did much except go to war with France.

The pure hatred in his voice for anyone on "the right" or anyone that doesn't fit his sheltered view is disturbing.

@@paz444 There was nothing there to engage with at all though? You just said "He's privileged, he's virtue signalling, he hates the right".
