I am 82 years old and made up my mind I was going to check some things off my bucket list before I pass. One was getting a Ham license and learning to program and use my own radio. That is where you come in. I had simplex down pat last night but I must have looked at 10 videos on how to program a Baofeng radio for Repeaters. You did just what you promised. Taught me how to program my first repeater in about 5 minutes. The St. Lous Park Minnesota site I am programming has two frequencies. I assume I do the second one on the B or bottom part of the Channel. At least I have the top one done. I think that is the transmit area. This was three years ago so I doubt you monitor these comments any longer but if you do Thanks. I have no idea how people can make something so easy so complex. Anyway, thanks again. 2/8/2024.
Great tutorial! So many of the other videos on the topic leave out steps or move too fast or have poor vid’ quality. Thanks for taking it slow & easily breaking it down .
Thank you for this repeater programming tutorial. I didn´t know about being able to scan only the programmed chanels. I just bought a UV-17R. The menu numbers are different but now I know how to program it. - Dave - KB1YFR
Great Video. So question. The Repeater Freq. stays in the top line?? Add Channels to that on the bottom line. Gonna program mine tonight. Thank You in advance
This was a really , really helpful video and you did it so simple. I will have to say that I do like simple. Well, thanks again and I did subscribe to your channel. I wouldn't say that I am a geek....lol...but I think that I am changing!!!
I bought a used UV9R Plus that already had repeater frequencies programed in memory. Recently one of those repeaters added a PL tone. Can and how do I add this tone to the already programed repeater frequency or must I delete the frequency and reprogram it back in? Also, do I input the tone on R CTCS as well as T CTCS?
Ok. I'm able to confirm radio check with other people, I have 2 of these radios both set up exactly the same, but I can't hear my transmission on the opposite radio. Anyone know why? I wanna leave one at home with my family when I'm out at work or out camping..
Quick question: I have two (2) Baofeng UV-5Rs. I have them set and programed identically the same in the menu. I also have them on the same frequency. When I transmit from Baofeng radio # 1 to Baofeng radio # 2 it works fine however when I try to transmit from Baofeng radio # 2 to Baofeng radio # 1, the Baofeng radio # 1 will not pick up the transmission from the other Baofeng radio #2. SO I cannot hear any signal/transmission from Baofeng radio # 1. Do you think there is something wrong with Baofeng radio # 1?
Hello sir how do I use my baofeng radio to call other countries. Like using Allstars or echolink. Can I program my baofen to dothat without using a computer . I already know how to used local repeaters for local coverage but how can I used them with radio only to call other countries

OMG. That was one of the best HAM instructions. Better than all the HAM so called experts. Make more on this radio please.
Great job! I've just programmed my new UV-5R for my local repeaters. Crystal clear and thorough. Thank you!
I watched several other videos on this same subject and yours was the easiest to follow. Thank you. Will be following your other videos
I enjoy your video. I have been making the process to complicated and failing. You instructions make it simple. Thanks.

Good info. Clear and easy understand. Thanks.
Thanks for making it simple, great job!
Interesting thank you sir so much will check you out periodically....
Great video. Should really help. If a frequency does not show a offset what should I do ?
Great Video. So question. The Repeater Freq. stays in the top line?? Add Channels to that on the bottom line. Gonna program mine tonight. Thank You in advance
Very good explanation! I could not save channel, iven I got confirm. Why???
Nothing is showing in tone in my local repeater. Is it necessary to put tone? Please reply
I don’t know how well mines gonna work in my area because apparently there’s only two analog repeaters
This video was far mor easy to understand than the others on TH-cam

Really thank youuuuu very much for this video!!! Wow! Finally something understandable and very super useful!!!!
I am having a problem getting my computer to recognize the radio..it doesn't show up on the port..perhaps it a driver? can seem to find one.

Just what I needed….thanks so much
Thank you for the video. What about the repeaters they are fire department I can use those too.
These Repeaters are in my area (Hollister). I would like for a GMRS group, im not sure if one already exists
Thank you! I have two questions:
1) What about repeaters that have tone up/tone down?
2) What about repeaters that do not list a tone?
how to know rpeter frequncy anthor country????
Where is transmitting frq recorded ?
Ok. I'm able to confirm radio check with other people, I have 2 of these radios both set up exactly the same, but I can't hear my transmission on the opposite radio. Anyone know why? I wanna leave one at home with my family when I'm out at work or out camping..
Smae issue here. Did you ever figure it out?
@@dkabbash still no. Even on other repeaters. Not sure what up.
The info for my local repeater does not show an offset value. Hoe do I proceed? Thanks.
I believe if there's no offset value shown, then you don't need one. And if you do need one, you'll have to contact the repeater owner for permission.
Isn't there an output and input frequency? Why is there only one?

Did you ever find the solution to this? Same issue here.
Nice one! Thanks much for this.
Hello there. U just programmed only radio as repeater?
So if I want to listen to my local PD frequency do I have to go through these steps?
No!
are you in the 831? i just got my licence.
How far ? Can you talk using a repeater and utilizing this little radio ?
Line of sight plus a little.
Good video

To span a distance of that magnitude would require much more power and much larger antennas. It's really asking too much out of such a device
i never seen so many positive comments
Hit the scan button once and it will gove you the reverse frequency.
Thank u ...bofeang haters..not u thank u...
Geezers, wow
Old geezers? LOL!
These radios are absolute garbage and anything on TH-cam telling otherwise is getting paid to do so
mine works great
i just got the local repeater to turn off when i tried to help a guy lost in the woods. fuck the local hams!
