    Man, being in the woods and hearing those rattles and not being able to see the snake or tell where the rattling is coming from is probably the scariest experience I've ever had in the woods. Sometimes in thick brush they rattle so loud you think you're surrounded.

    • @wizardofahhhs759
      @wizardofahhhs759 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @Koletti Pireaus That's my point., you can't move away from it if you can't tell where it's coming from. You just have to stand still until the snake decides to move on. I've had this happen on more than a few occasions and it's scary as hell. Anyone who has experienced it will know exactly what I'm talking about. Me and a friend of mine were walking through some thick brush once and had one go off and neither of us could tell where the rattling was coming from because it was so loud it sounded like we were surrounded.

      Yeah, I was in Illinois near a known snake refuge (an old abandoned house), and they had these water pumps between the cabins. I was walking between the cabins and one of those pumps went off, sounded like a rattlesnake, at least to me. Man, I was looking at every leaf and twig trying to figure that out.

      If he got bitten. there would likely not be a video, but I would like to think if he was bitten he'd be prepared for the emergency, but people like him tend to get overconfident(Steve Irwin for example). I wouldn't be surprised if he's been bitten before. If heard many snake authorities say an untreated rattlesnake bite is usually not fatal to an adult, especially a male, but can cause serious damage, like loss of fingers, limbs etc, depending on where bite occurred. Personally, I'd never get close to one if those things if I can help it.

    I had two brother-laws, one who had grown up in town, and the other had grown up on the St. Francois River in South Missouri. The one from town was scared of snakes. He went fishing one night in a boat with the one who had grown up on the river. Later he told us " I looked behind us and here was 50 snakes staring at me!" " I told Larry we needed to get out of there and all he did was say " If you'd quit shining that light around you would not even know they were there."
    I don't think they caught any fish that night. Too much noise was being made. The snakes always seemed to avoid my BIL striking at them with an oar. BIL#2 kept telling him to ignore them but he would not listen.

    That snake is a lot "more calmer" than any of the timber rattlers I've dealt with here in TN. Grab one of them by the tail and it goes berserk like a rubber band coming unwound. For whatever reason, the snake on this video was a LOT different than the ones here. Wonder why? Great video. Thanks for posting! The shirt was awesome to!

    Absolutely fascinating! I had a rattlesnake in my backyard the other day (I live in Arizona). I was using the Weed Whacker and I guess I woke him up. He took off in the other direction, then curled up under a nearby tree. When I checked later, he was gone, and I figure that since I've already knocked out most of the weeds, he's probably visiting my neighbor.

    I really appreciate what this man does and the calm patient way he goes about this dangerous business. But I really hope he has some anti venom close . Not sure If I’ve ever , ever known a snake handler - even the very best- that didn’t get hit a few times at least . Those daimond backs have a very deadly bite. I knew of a drunk fellow in town that tried to pick one up and it nailed him several times. He was in ICU for like two weeks in a coma, the nurse told me he came a gnats toe nail of dying and they had to import anti venom from neighboring states. My understanding is a daimond backs bite is much more deadly than a copper head or a cottonmouth. Didn’t know that for years,

    I just seen one just the other day on my way home from a day out of the water. My brother wanted me to run it over, but I stuck to my guns and said no to him. I got out of my truck and gently clapped my hand and it slowly moved of the dirt road and back into the weeds. Note it wasn't as big as this one like it just 3 to 4 small rattles.

We had cut the grass one time and raked it into piles. Next day were loaded the piles in wheelbarrow to dump them. Somewhere while puck up piles with hands i went to dump a load and had 2 timber rattlers over 6ft. In wheelbarrow. They had hid in the grass piles overnight. Lucky day that day for me. How i did not get bit was still amazing.
