From Ireland to France! - Castelnaud - Restrictive Hard Economy - Episode 1 - Farming Simulator 22

- After the passing of an estranged relative I was presented an opportunity to sell everything I had built in Ireland and take on an entirely new challenge in France. I bought a "hundreds of years old" dairy farm in the mountains and am sort of starting from scratch and with a number of game play restrictions that will bring a tear to my eye at some point I'm sure. There's nothing official about the following, just some stuff I'll try to stick to and also to work into the "story line". Hopefully this will be casual farming in the hills of France but I guess time will tell!

2 Days per Month
Seasons - On
All the other stuff - On
Starting loan balance and term - $1,200,000 to be paid over 8 years at 3.5%
Monthly payment - $15,000 (approx)
I am starting with a farm and some land and also approx $150K in cash that I had from Ireland.
Leasing - allowed
Fermenting silos are forbidden in this region.
If a production exists on the map it must be bought and activated before I can consider putting up a production. If I sell the map production, I must get rid of my placed production.
If a sell point exist on the map I may not add an additional sell point.
No super strength.
Autoload can be used for productions only, not for picking up bales or trees.
These rules/restrictions may be updated from time-to-time. - เกม

I forgot to mention... I believe that you will love the "extended animations pack".
It will make all buildings that have doors, gates, windows...open and close by "presence" range.
everything that have animated doors , gates , windows...etc.
Very handy and cool.

some mods...are to make it easier and not like "money cheat", are just to make it easier and save time.
There is a difference between cheat, exploiting, and making it easier.
and after so many hours since fs13...it is easy to restart.
The way that I always play... helps me to learn how to beat the game.
hard work, repeated...patience, and the joy of driving...same with Euro truck sim2.
Free time to spend playing it.
When playing in 16x, 4x size maps...using a plow at 10mp/h or a harvest at 10mp/h isn't a cheat...because of the "time".
of course, not at 50mp/h...or with super width tools... sometimes the unrealistic capacity of "load" is quite handy to save time between "legs" of trips. back and forwards...
for example, the tardis series from Oma Tana... helps a lot.
but are cheats to make the work easier. not to work for you.
about the open gardens...I don't like the speed...is too much.
But I like to have some small solar panels and windmills as generators, but only a few of them...water mills as decoration...etc.
no exploits.
@@eumesmo_oficial agreed. There’s a difference for sure. Not to mention. I play in 3X speed and 2 days per month…you have way more time in real life to get the job done.

I always use real time 1x.
and speed up with the mod. never up to 1000x.
I believe that I used the sleep trigger 2 or 3 times with fs22.
btw, Sammo sim, is doing a series with the map Pallegney.
@@eumesmo_oficial is there a benefit to setting the game speed at 1X and using the mod to speed up time?
nice background, good switch. but indeed i agree pls if possible tone down the whistling of the tractor if possible. otherwise nice map and i hope you enjoy as much as playing on it while we enjoy watching the series
Hey, thanks and thank you for the feedback. I’ll have to go back and have a listen to that tractor to see how bad the whistling is. I didn’t actually notice it, but I know it’s different when you’re watching someone’s content… Things like that will really stand out.
I am hoping that I can do this map justice… I have a funny feeling I’m going to go broke at some point!
Bring your cell phone with you when talking with the locals, talk in to phone then push translate to French, works both ways, so helpful, I used it in Germany about 4 years back. Sorry if its just part of the story line. Like the big move and the rules you have setup, looks like a cool series, well done again Northern.
Hey Ken, thanks. I’ve been addicted to fermenting silos for a while now so it’s time to break the habit! Thankfully, the local council has a ban on them…
That’s a good idea to use translator… Might be a good way around some of the language barriers that I think you would find in mountainous, rural France.

There must be some custom scripts or some thing that keeps it from being all platforms… You should check out the other map that they released which it is for all platforms I believe? It’s on ModHub…. Pallangay (sp??)

Hey, thanks for the comment and I’m glad you enjoy them. My only farming experience is in this game and for the most part I try to keep things as real as the game will allow but if you ever see anything you want to point out that you think I could do differently then go for it. I love the feedback/conversation in the comment section.
From what I understand most Australian farming is on a massive scale… Is that what you were doing?
@@northernfarmsim yea mate we are large scale here close to 3000ha which is about 5500 acres roughly we grow canola barely and wheat on the property am on

This story is creative, gr8 stuff! I kept thinking your kettle was on a constant boil 😂😂 oh that damn turbo!!! To become French, start with the word "hockey, but ptonounced without the H. Just think of the time when Jean Cretien was questioned & he responded with; Why oh ave to ask me eh questieion when uh alreadee know de answer!! 😂😂😂😂
OK, I definitely have to go back and see what everyone’s talking about regarding that tractor… There’s definitely been a few comments about that turbo wine, but I really didn’t even notice it. Looks like I might be making a tractor change, lol.
I remember growing up we had a family friend who sounded a lot like Chrétien. The kids would always gather around and tell him to say things because we always thought it sounded so funny. I spent a lot of time skiing in Quebec when I was younger so now when I hear a good thick French Canadian accent, it just brings back good memories 😀😀
@@northernfarmsim lol, yes, I'm not surprised how easy ppl can miss things, for myself, I always have the sound off with yt on while I play so I don't even know what noises come from what machine 😂😂 seems like some good memories, I was outside Montreal in the late 90s working on the transCanada Pipeline & we avoided the fran-co-phone as much as possible, the hotel at least knew what beer we liked!

Hey I love the map... I have played on it, but for me the way of making money after a while is even in hard mode a bit to simple and then I move to another map and start fresh most of the time...
I think you can make a use of the silage clamps by storing the silage bales in them... and then store the hay and grass bales in the sheep attic...
Also I love the smaller machinery on the farm and the rules and story you setup...
and maybe another tip... because you are farming on quite some hills, you can use the massey or fendt balers which push over the bale after wrapping (only those bales wrap themselves immidiatly when you use only grass for a grass bale...)
Good Luck with the progress, I enjoyed the video.. Its a bit to slow for me, but i still liked this one very much...

Hey thanks. I'm the same way...it starts out difficult and then I find a way to make it easier and then move on....
I'm going to go square bales and silage pit...that should save me from chasing round bales down a hill. lol.
I think as I settle into a pace on this map it's going to be a slow one...it just feels like a slow paced kind of map....But I'm glad you liked it!
@@northernfarmsim I like that you will take it slow.. and I thought you said you can not use the silage pit... or was it that you cant use a fermenting silo, because then i did not interpreted that well from your explenation...

Beautiful start in France... Congrats! Was just a little bit surprised you didn't go for a Renault Tractor. Some have 185hp and cost 51'000.--
Hey thanks, should be fun. I don’t think I have any Renault tractors downloaded… But yeah, that’s a good point, that would be perfect brand for this. I’ll have to do some digging for a future purchase. That is unless I go broke first, lol.

to plow... use the lizard 6/9mts. get the 6 mts width. you can attach from both plow sides. one side it will let you to go at 8mp/h and no "high" hp required.
btw...the turbo whistle is quite loud and all time. no big deal, maybe just lower the engine sound a little that will be fine.
I will definitely be looking at that tractor to see what I can do about the turbo sound. I think there has been four or five comments about it. Unfortunately, I’ve already recorded the second episode and maybe some of the third so it won’t come right away, but I definitely don’t want to drive a tractor. That is annoying people, lol. if I wanted to do that, I would just drive a John Deere… Just kidding. I’m not brand loyal, but it’s fun to make fun of John Deere.

The case 7250 series is very good.
There 2 mods at modhub. both are good, but one had the "tunned engine up to 306hp. (My favorite because of the colors options)
But last week I start to use the color mod... awesome mod. no more need to be a slave of the limited color options.
anyway, I'm using the Deutz dx140 with the 9mts plow and no issues.
started as 6mts, but later I did the upgrade.
@@eumesmo_oficial I seem to end up going Deutz all the time so always looking for new options. And I’m the same way… I’ve been using that colour mod since it came out and change the colors every chance I get. I’ll actually avoid some mods that don’t allow me to change the color.
this map is an upgrade to ballysprings imo, but seeing you using not only a bale spike but also a hauer frontloader instead of the good old quicke, it´s like i dont even know you anymore 🤣🤣

Salut! 😊 Man, you sure have a lot of out goings. Loan repayments, leasing costs, wages, fuel and other stuff - sure adds up. Did you do some calculations beforehand, just to make sure you could stay afloat financially? Great start to your cool new adventure 😊
Only some rough "in-my-head" calculations...pretty sure I'll go broke soon...Going to need to do some contracts for sure.
funny fact, grass is a weed type.
That's why there is no weed in planted grass fields from original base game maps.

because Giants can paint the vehicle without removing the dirt....lol.
Plowing is a good idea.

It’s not Scroft but it would be cool to do a collaboration with him no doubt. His farmhand series is my favourite thing on TH-cam for farming simulator content. It’s unbelievable.
I mean, both maps are great and this happens irl too, people move countries. maybe Canada to Ireland is not something you see often but still, you know?
and so far I watched your close-to-reality series and out-of-hand try-everything challenge on Calm Lands, and enjoyed all of them. so idk if map really matters. I think it's more important for you and whether you can spin a map into an interesting story
with that said, nothing beats Hinterland series and I'll unsub if you don't post it in next 48h

This game keeps getting better and better for me… I find that the more I play in different ways the more fun I’m having. There’s almost no way of playing I think that I don’t like… Not sure that I could handle the giant American farming type maps, but everything else has been great.
Wish u came back to canada backroads 4x or gnadenthal 4x
I think if the right map came out eventually, I would make a move… I’d love to see something that was in the foothills of Alberta maybe on the Bow river or something.
Did you see the last motocross bike mod?
Unfortunately, I’ve never been able to get the bikes to function properly. I think it’s because I use all of the REA mods…. I think it might be the centre of gravity mod that screws up the bikes for me. Every time I start riding the bike just falls over.
I hope i get a deal like that for my retirement work nicey live on the 2500 with a free house

Maybe you don't know how to make a short 20-minute piece of content... but without a doubt, your talent for entertaining makes an hour-long piece of content... pass as if it were 15 minutes.
Surely the art of “stealing” more than 20 minutes of people's lives, you can do and you do it with mastery.

Thanks! I just like playing the game too…usually a 55 minute video takes like 2-3 hours to play. The edit kills me, need to get better at that and then I could post more videos 😀
