I've just completed a QM2 sailing and booked a Queen Victoria sailing for next year. I like the art deco interiors. This ship looks more like an up market car ferry.
part of the attraction to sailing is access to the sea. Seems the ocean is something that is being diminished from the experience. Feels more like just a fancy hotel lobby than a ship where the the experience of sailing is a principal raison d'être.
I must be fair and suspend all judgement until I have the chance to see it in person. My impression at this moment, doesn't make that event a top priority. Though the Blanche Devereaux Boudoir inspired wall coverings in the "Artisans Food Hall" does not go unappreciated. I leave this review with a longing for sailing aboard Queen Mary 2, and an even deeper appreciation for her build quality and unapologetic uniqueness. Thank you for the tour.
As a cunarder who has been on many voyages , there are quite a few areas of great great concern . I'm getting very worried as we're on 2 voyages on QA this year .too late to change first ,but barring a flipping miracle I might have to hopefully transfer 2nd cruise to the other ships .
Congratulations, Chris, for living your dream on QUEEN A. I appreciate your well-narrated and filmed videos very much. The layout has much in common with her sisters ROTTERDAM and KONINGSDAM.
We have just returned from the maiden voyage on this stunning ship. There is nothing on board not to like. The decor, the staff and all the venues are all fantastic. We are looking forward to our next trip in December.
Maybe I'm an idiot, but when I think of Cunard, I think of the grand era of ocean liners. Its ships should have that traditional feel with decor and colors. This ship is fancy, but it is too modern and contemporary. I couldn't think about Cunard without thinking of the fancy Mauritania, Lusitania, the Olympic etc. I like the QE2 and QM2. But the Queen Anne looks more like a "cruise ship" than an ocean line. Like I said, maybe I am an idiot. 😅
Thanks for the video Chris. Having been on all 3 of her Cunard sisters she appears to be sitting in category of her own. I remember watching a doco about QM2 where Micky Arison passionately spoke about recreating the nostalgia of the Ocean Liner, a briefing which Stephen Payne and the design team delivered perfectly to reinvigorate the Cunard brand. Attention to detail and the Cunard history are referenced throughout QM2 (not to mention a genuine teak promenade deck!). Boarding QE & QV your breath is taken away by the grandeur of the staircase and marquetry mural capturing the essence of Cunard’s heyday. The theme is uniform across each ship with craftsmanship apparent in every space. Is it because QA has been launched in a period of cost cutting that the Cunard soul appears to be missing or is it because the company has a leadership driven by their next bonus rather than the legacy of creating a grand Cunard ship!
Hello. The ship definitely seems to have a ‘soul’. There’s a warmth and energy about her that’s very reminiscent of the Cunarders that came before her. And so early on in her career too.
@@cruises_only_thanksFair enough but I agree with several other replies - it ‘looks’ cheap & is disappointing but Carnival has said they’re aiming for a younger demographic so it’s understandable but I was expecting classic interiors like the other queens
We spent 4 weeks on the QE and loved it, I really can’t see a problem with this ship, looks very comfortable and easy to maneuver about, we’ll wait a couple of years to let er season then giver a go, thanks for the tour love it!👍
The Queen Anne video gives us a little taste of what we have coming in December. My wife and I have sailed with cunard a substantial amount of times, the Queen Anne looks very tasteful with good quality furnishings and we doubt we will be disappointed. Very well done team Cunard, we can't wait to join you in December.
She's looking like a gorgeous ship, but I just can't decide what I think about the new take on the Queens Room. On all of my Cunard cruises, I've always been amazed at how regal the Queens Room felt (especially on QM2), but I do feel that this venue looks like a typical dance hall. I'll wait and see onboard for myself though, as everything else looks amazing!
Thank you, Chris, for a very informative tour of Queen Anne. I love the modern look but also the Cunard tradition being preserved. Hope you catch up on your sleep and body clock. I know the feeling well!
I agree !! I live in Southern California and so went to Las Vegas many times. Especially when I was a kid with my parents in the 50’s and 60’s. Sin city was always infamous for its tacky and over the top interiors. It’s like they always seemed to just try too hard to be new and “ different “ !! No warmth, class or beauty. Just flashy gimmicks and vulgar colours! I also immediately thought of Vegas as I first viewed pictures and videos of the actual interior of Queen Anne !!! What’s with that UGLY Queens Room?? Are those Disco Balls hanging from the ceiling ??? Expect too see Elvis or John Travolta come walking around the corner any second!😂 I love the decor on the three other Queens. Elegant polished wood panelling, etched glass, buffed metal touches. Art Deco is the best looking design ever !! The “ New Generations “ can keep it 😒👎 I will gladly stick with the QM2 , Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth in the future !!
Loving the bold colours in the public spaces and cabins. The deep blues and gold in the Britannia state rooms and ruby red and gold of the Princess grills. The pool areas are stunning, bright classic 20's. The signature spaces of the atrium and Queens room are underwhelming. The atrium does not have the grandeur of the other queens. The Queens room is essentially a night club
Thank you for this video Chris. Its been very informative, Cunard is the only line we have cruised with, not because we dislike the others, we've just become comfortable with it. Been on all three others and join Queen Anne on 10th May 2024. Loving the new look, my partner is loving all the curves. Always felt QV and QE a little straight in areas. I'm sure we will find some areas we are not keen on, but thats like anything.
As an ex QE2 Officer we had similar comments when vompared to the old Queens, "far to modern" etc, look what a design icon she became!! I think QA looks fab! Roll on 28/7 when we join for our cruise
Thanks for the video, Chris, and excellent job given the lack of sleep. Personally I think the design changes are very well done and the ship looks very nice indeed. Lovely use of colours, metals and materials. I can understand why some traditionalists might be upset, but to she seems to be a worthy update for Cunard to potentially transition to a new customer demographic. I've signed up for a cruise on the QA only 2 years away, but will be going on a TA cruise next year on the QM2. Will be interesting to compare the oldest and newest Cunard ships.
Hi Chris - thanks for the vlog. I’m not sure - haven’t been on a Cunard ship before. I’m actually going on the Queen Victoria on Monday 20th May this year - Istanbul to Rome via Greece. But I think I prefer the more traditional look.
Thank you so much Chris for this tour. As a kid my family were not in a position to cruise on the QE2, but I was lucky enough as a 10 year old who loved the QE2 to tour her her here in Sydney as my Dad worked for a company connected to Cunard back then. I am actually booked on the Queen Anne (my 1st lifetime Cunard cruise) in January on her first TransAtlantic voyage from Southamptom to New York.
Chris, what a beautiful tour of the lovely Queen Anne cruise ship! It would be amazing if the Princess Royal could actually take a cruise on her namesake ship, but that probably would never happen.
Trying to be unbiased here so haven't read other comments yet. Overall I feel it's understated and elegant yet maybe lacking the luxuriousness of the other ships? Maybe playing it a bit too safe maybe? But it's such a radical change for Cunard! Still have to let it sink in. What really stinks is ocean view blocked by tenders/lifeboats on promenade deck (or whatever it was called). Anyway, I'd get onboard anytime! Thanks so much for all your effort in sharing this with us. Have a fabulous trip. Would love to know your itinerary!
Wonderful stuff Chris. Hope you’re enjoying your time and that you’ve gotten on to a proper sleep schedule. I’m still up in the air on being critical or loving it. I’m comparing her a lot to QE2 and how “controversial” she is. But that’s how they break through some of the old and recreate the new. She seems a bit less stuffy than the others, but I don’t dislike the older traditional ships. She may wind up in a class of her own, so to speak.
Thanks for the tour Chris. Have to say we are a bit underwhelmed. It looks so busy with so many different floor coverings and decor converging giving it a very busy look. Will reserve final judgement until our voyage in October and are glad we are in a Queen Suite as our clothes wouldn’t fit in a Britannia stateroom 😫. The nicest I think was the Library as that looked grand and welcoming, except for the carpet. I think QE will still be our favourite ship. Did you notice the bust of The Queen anywhere as we noticed it was missing from the entrance to the Queens Room on QE last Month.
Thanks Chris, what a very nice tour of the newest cunard cruise ship! How I wish I’m still on board as a crew just as I did with QE2 and QM2. I was part of the inaugural team , QE in 2010, happily retired now but still a Cunarder @heart! #IAMCUNARD!!
Hi Chris, thank you for providing this video about Queen Anne. The tour was unbiased and, I think showed the ship for what it is. I believe that it is not possible for one to form too strong an opinion of a ship unless you see it and experience it for yourself. That said my Wife and I have been fortunate to cruise on all of the other current Queens many times and we just struggle to see any strong brand connections to this ship. To an extent Queen Anne seems to have more in common with some of the later P & O vessels and maybe Celebrity -perhaps Holland America? It looks quite smart ( apart from some eye jarring carpets in places) though lacks any of the regal ambience that her sisters display. I do not think the basic shape of the ship , let alone the decor, suits the brand. Some of the "Wow Factor" that appears to be missing might be introduced on future refits , but sadly things like a proper Promenade deck will not be possible. I am very sorry to have to say it , but Carnival might find it easier to market this cruise ship under one of their other fleets.
I really like the Britannia Dining Room! I’m getting definite SS Normandie Vibes from its styling!! Not too sure about the Queen’s Room??🤔 Doesn’t have the grandeur and elegance of the other three sisters! Mike W.
17:38 NO book shop? Well that's well and truly the last straw! I loved buying a liner themed book, including yours, then going up to the Commodore club to read it!
Are there any Queen Anne legs on any of the the furniture . I find the decor very busy and a little unsettling . Maybe it is better when one is immersed in it
Thank you again Chris. I've never been on any Cunard ships so I would not be the best person to judge Queen Anne. I do have several Queen Mary 2 bookings, and once I complete them I'll consider coming back and give you my 2 cents.😁 Wonderful video by the way.👍
9:24 I could be on Iona. There is NOTHING special or unique about this. The public spaces on the other Cunard ships felt special. They would have cases full of artefacts and information to brighten up a vestibule. This could be any ship. This could be a ferry. No flair, no creativity, nothing to stand out in what is a very crowded field.
The Grand Lobby cafe was not open until day 3 because they didn't have the staff to run it and then it was open for 2 and half hours in the morning only and that increased by an hour. Basically a dead zone most of the day, apart from guests queuing at the pursers desk to pass on their thoughts and experiences. The other aspect of the grand lobby that I thought was strange was that on formal nights they close off the access stairs for the photographers so as not to trouble them, by you know paying guests who want to travel between decks in this area.
Ok, I like the Pavillion. This is the one instance where I think Cunard listened because the pools on the QV and QE are utterly unusable in inclement weather. Which is not good when you're doing Ex-UK cruises in December. I can remember trying to use the pools on the QE when I was on a canaries cruise and it was only really possible 50% of the time. Not that rain always stopped me 🤣 nice to see Cunard took the hint and created such a pleasant inside/outside space and it's just a shame the rest falls short.
Late to the viewing party today ---- Thank you, Chris. Interesting to see the changing centrepiece in the Grand Lobby. A video to re-watch, probably more than once. Appreciate your great videos and unique viewpoint.
Those chevrons on the carpets must have come out of some committee concerned with people getting lost. I think I’d expect the whole belt of carpet to start moving. Other ships have managed subtle and creative ways of indicating direction much more successfully.
I'll be boarding QM2 on Sunday, for my 8th or 9th crossing, and I must say, this new ship looks like something another company might build, and nothing like a Cunard ship. To me, the only thing that looks like an improvement is the Royal Court Theater. (QM2's looks very dated, imho, and did already in 2006!) But since I really only do transatlantic, I'll probably never be on QA. I always enjoy your videos!
My parents will be on the same voyage as you. It’s their 3rd time on it and we all agree it is slightly dated, but still maintains sleek, modern, ocean liner look.
Being lucky enough to be on QA's maiden voyage I just wanted to say I very much enjoyed your presentations onboard. Also got a chuckle out of your tour of cabin 7064 as I occupied that cabin on the voyage.
Amazing that many tribes couldn't figure out the wheel or the concept of a chair or build a 2 storey dwelling, or written language, yet here we have such a magnificent ship.
Hi Chris, great video. I think it is important that Cunard recognize that they have to provide a more modern product. The hard line cunarders will not be totally happy with the way the company is moving. However if the brand is too survive and grow it needs to be proactive and appeal to a younger client group. The average age of a cruiser is younger than ever and they will expect a more upto date environment, but with the quality expected from Cunard.
6:32 That is the naffest wallpaper I have seen at sea! Is this a floating episode of Coronation Street? I feel like I'm in the video for "I want to break free!" What were Carnival thinking (or drinking)?
From what I saw it looked old fashioned and frumpy. The carpets seem to have been chosen by somebody who specialises in providing carpets for pubs that have a busy pattern which don’t show up spilled drinks.
That main-lobby staircase looks very narrow. Given its length you are likely to pass several people going in the opposite direction but because it is so narrow one party or the other will probably have to give way.
I totally agree, too contemporary, not living up to the Cunard trademark at all. Looks like any other cruise ship. They have lost track completely. They are going Marriott instead of Downton Abbey which would be their natural habitat.
I do remember how QE2 was first received - her '60s mod' interior featured a lot of plastic and chrome, and color schemes that included plenty of purple, oranges and flame reds. But over time - as she matured - we all loved her. So I have a positive attitude toward the new Queen and can't wait to board her. Still (you knew I need to have one - but just one - hesitant comment) I must say that the outside promenade deck - narrow, no steamer chairs and a view largely blocked by the lifeboats - is a disappointment.
Compared to the QM2 this is absolutely dreadful, the colour of the carpets, the fabric of the seats to the style is awful. It's like being used to a country estate then walking into a spartan Nordic design. Thank you kindly for showing us around but we won't be sailing on her.
Totally agree , unfortunately we've already booked 2 cruises!!. Many areas of great concern ,for example ,hardly any 2 seat dining tables .... that is going to be awkward as we generally dine by ourselves in the evening
I sailed many times on QE2 and thought her plasticity was everywhere! Yes, she was a phenomenal ship in many ways, but sorry, the Queen Anne blows her away in terms of a beautiful blending of contemporary and Art Deco/Moderne styles. Also noteworthy is the attention paid to traffic flow and affording passengers a logical way of making their way through the various decks and gathering places. My comments refer to her interior, not her stack-upon-stack design of her exterior, with little space left for bow or stern. The QE2 certainly surpassed her in spades on these features!
NO, it's much worse than that.... Just look at the cheap brown design carpet on upper level of Queens room with PURPLE CHAIRS. who the hell thought cow shit brown matched withe with purple!!
The Corinthia Lounge. I like the bigger windows offering the better views to the outside than are generally possible on the QM2, but I would miss the big comfortable sofas. It is a shame that they seem to have downgraded the lounge to what looks more like an ordinary bar or cafe. The big staircase in the middle would also seem to be detrimental to the area acting as a lounge; it makes it more an open walkway with a few chairs scattered about.
The wallpaper in the Golden Lion appears to be too light; it looks a bit like a front parlour rather than a public bar. I am surprised that the casino and the Queen's Room are 'open'; I would expect quite a bit of noise to emanate from both of them so this will carry into other areas in the absence of partition walls of some form. The boat deck is very different with the boats being mounted closer to the deck than on the other Cunard ships. This is the first time that I have seen this arrangement on any ship - is this a first?
I think the interior decor looks stunning. Definitely a Cunarder, but contemporary. I'd say Cunard's marketing have nailed it. Aimed at the right demographic clientele. Our last transatlantic voyage felt like 14 days in a nursing home, making us (Platinum loyalty) cancel our next voyage. Queen Anne breathes some fresh air in to a new direction whilst keeping tradition. This video has made us consider booking Queen Anne . Thanks Chris .
The very best video tour of Queen Anne that I have seen. Overall, she looks beautiful , but the occasional things are not too sure about. Theatre looks huge, no boxes by the look of it? The Golden Lion looks very large. Always popular on the other Queens, but very often no seats available. So good idea. The sofas look small in some of the cabins, too cosy for two, but is that to accommodate the extra wardrobe/storage space? I just hope one day to get the opportunity to sail on her.❤
I've just completed a QM2 sailing and booked a Queen Victoria sailing for next year. I like the art deco interiors. This ship looks more like an up market car ferry.
I was expecting to be impressed. Looks like a mid-range Vegas hotel interior.
I have to say, it looks a bit budget in some areas and in others it gives the impression of a lounge in a care home.
It's appalling...all of it. You'd feel more luxurious sitting in a Costa in Leicester city centre.
Perhaps your care home comment gives a clue to the target market.
I have to agree...
As I commented It looks hideous🤣

No flair, no creativity, nothing to stand out in what is a very crowded field.
You seem a positive cheerful individual. A glass half full type. Keep it up!
Looks fabulous. But yes more P&O in design which is a little sad. Nevertheless I’m excited
Hmmm. I am having a difficult time landing on the design esthetic for the ship. Deco? 1960s? Hollywood glamour? Moderne? All of the above?
The library looks fantastic!
Much rather have the Art Deco interior design. The ship has a late 1960’s look to it.
Thanks for the tour. Hope you managed to get some sleep at some point!
Enjoyed the video, well done and thanks for sharing.
We are sailing in October and can’t wait!
At last ! Thank you. Can’t wait to sail on her.
What a stunning ship. Incredible interior architecture and design, in a fresh way, but is quintissential Cunard. Someday….
Dandelion carpets make us feel Ill. It's like walking through a colour blind test.
Thank you for this! I can't believe there isn't a book shop. Boo!
Pursers office needs to be a much bigger area. Where is the outdoor pool/ did I miss that?
Thank you for the video. I love art deco so much I am really looking forward to my cruise next year!
Great video Chris. Much appreciated.
We’re on it July and it’s good to get your video to see what awaits us 👍
Ahhhhhmazing!
The furnishings and dacour looks like something from a 1960s hotel trying to be modern
Looks impressive, but is the look "Cunard" enough for their traditional passengers?
Love it. Booked next February, Sydney to Hong Kong.
Late to the viewing party today ----
Thank you, Chris.
Interesting to see the changing centrepiece in the Grand Lobby.
A video to re-watch, probably more than once.
Appreciate your great videos and unique viewpoint.
GREAT job 👏👍
Excellent!! Thank you!
You are welcome!
@@ChrisFrameOfficial now husband and I are all in to book a cruise on this ship. So thank u for your insight (and for spending our $$). 😂👍🏼☺️
Those chevrons on the carpets must have come out of some committee concerned with people getting lost. I think I’d expect the whole belt of carpet to start moving. Other ships have managed subtle and creative ways of indicating direction much more successfully.
Terrific vid and lovely to see thanks
I'll be boarding QM2 on Sunday, for my 8th or 9th crossing, and I must say, this new ship looks like something another company might build, and nothing like a Cunard ship. To me, the only thing that looks like an improvement is the Royal Court Theater. (QM2's looks very dated, imho, and did already in 2006!)
But since I really only do transatlantic, I'll probably never be on QA.
Thanks Paul! Haha oh wow for 7064! It was a great room hope you enjoyed it for the voyage!
NEXT WE MUST HAVE THE QUEEN BERENGARIA!!!!!
Thank you Chris! Looking forward to July embarkation.
Amazing that many tribes couldn't figure out the wheel or the concept of a chair or build a 2 storey dwelling, or written language, yet here we have such a magnificent ship.
Great video Chris
All that's missing to complete the "dive bar" atmosphere is a drunk regular who's "not racist but" and the smell of stale p*ss
From what I saw it looked old fashioned and frumpy. The carpets seem to have been chosen by somebody who specialises in providing carpets for pubs that have a busy pattern which don’t show up spilled drinks.
The ship looks absolutely beautiful. Really looking forward to going on her in August 🙂 Great vid, keep up the good work ❤
That main-lobby staircase looks very narrow. Given its length you are likely to pass several people going in the opposite direction but because it is so narrow one party or the other will probably have to give way.
Great Video....thank you- Bon Voyage
Did you actually get to sail on the ship, or did you do the review while in port?
Both - I stayed aboard in port 1-2 May and then sailed 3-10 May.
@@ChrisFrameOfficial Great. You actually did a cruise. Good video.
@@stevenvater2681there are lot of tables for 2.
3:21 the Queen's room is a total abomination. I have nothing nice to say about that room.
19:33 I like that tree
Love the interiors, but way too many carpet designs. They should have stuck With less distracting and frequent carpet design changes.
The crow's nest on the Britannia is more elegant than the Commodore club here
Thanks Chris she’s beautiful ❤
Cant wait till October for pur cruise on Queen Anne.
I just hope one day to get the opportunity to sail on her.❤
😅
