Hi Matt, congratulations to your new job! I have been very struggling to get into consulting or any job at all after university. I researched UK’s biggest visa sponsors for skilled worker visas and found out that they are mainly consulting firms like EY, PWC, KPMG, Deloitte. However after I tried very hard for a year, I can’t even land any interview with those firms. I’d be externally grateful if you could help. Thanks
Thanks Lola! Although I'm not an international student, I can understand the frustration behind applying and not landing an interview (I had to apply 5 times to Google before I even got an interview). Don't give up, i recommend networking with people at the Big 4 firms to try to get a referral (don't be afraid to ask, the worst they can say is no).
Hey James! It’s great, been using it the last 2 years. I really like that it’s not too large but still has a laptop sleeve, and also has a luggage pass through so it slides on top of my luggage whenever I travel for work.
Without too much context, I’d say MBA is better assuming you can get into a good program. The reason is that an MBA is one of the most direct recruiting paths into consulting - every firm hires mba summer interns + you’re learning business/strategy concepts in class. That said, I did neither. I recruited laterally out of investment banking and studied business in undergrad.
Hey man I'm looking for some advice. I'm finishing up my freshman year of college and have been offered and accepted for KPMG's embark internship next summer. After that you're almost guaranteed a following internship in a specific practice (I want to go into management or strategy consulting). What would your advice be on going for big 4 consulting vs. a tier 2/3 consutling firms?
Hey Josh! Big 4 is still a really strong brand, I recommend going for it. Also, the MBB don’t take that many interns to begin with - you aren’t recruiting for jr year summer yet, so I’d still try to get any kind of consulting or related experience for next summer. Even if you get a return offer for KPMG, just keep recruiting for other firms you are interested in. You can leverage the offer in the interviews. Hope this helps!
@@matthuang21 Great, thanks so much for the response! Your videos have been super helpful for me throughout this year in helping determine what career path I want to pursue.
@@matthuang21 cool! I’ve heard of Alex Hormozi but haven’t looked into them yet. Btw I sent you a follow up email this week re Let’s Circle Back, hope to hear from you soon with next steps!

Really enjoyed the funny framework example! If I walked into a meeting room at work and saw that it would make my day lol
Hey Will! Glad you found it funny haha I made sure to erase it after I left the room but maybe next time I’ll leave it up 😄
Loving the frequent videos Matt. Been having a hard time at my consulting job and you're a source of inspiration 😊
Hey Haz! I’m so glad you’re here 🙂
I'm so impressed by how studious you are. You seem very analytical.

Can you make a video explaining your tech compensation and how you negotiated it (if you did). Congrats on the new job Matt!
Will add it to my list!
It’s funny to see u switch ur outfit after joining Google. I am always jealous of jobs that I can wear formally 😂
Haha true my dress code is definitely more casual now 🙂
Be right back! Need to catch up others after last day at BCG! 😅
Hey Julie! Glad you are all caught up!

Looks like you have the timbuk2 division backpack. I just ordered one, how you find it?!

Sweet maybe do an EDC video 😂 should get mine today, excited!
For someone trying to get into consulting, would MBA be an better option or MS? And what did you personally do?

Do you listen to music or podcasts or try to work off your phone during your commute? Or do you just try to tune out or observe your surroundings?
Music or TH-cam videos (I have TH-cam premium so I can listen to a long form video like a podcast). I like Alex Hormozi’s content for commuting!

Not in the market for an editor right now, but maybe in the future
Does this div at google take interns?
Could be wrong but I don’t think this specific division does, since they usually require minimum 2 years experience in consulting or IB
