I Made The World's Only H0 Microsoft Train Simulator Police Locomotive

- Back in the mid 2000s someone made a police locomotive DLC for the video game "Microsoft Train Simulator". This locomotive eventually made it in to being in a parody of cops (Msts Tv) and "West Bound and Down" a short video of a CSX consist making off with many cars of budweiser beer. I enjoyed both these videos very much when I was younger and I've always wanted to make an HO model of the locomotive and in this video I finally got it done.

Microsoft Train Simulator? Ok millennial. Lol. I always wanted to say that. Great job as always. So creative. If you ever want to film a “Cops” skit, let me know. I don’t mind hopping a fence with one shoe for views. :)

Yes a Dukes if Hazzard Loco needs to happen! I love that show. Also you should make a rails unlimited loco. Its a very good roblox game with tones of cool locos. We Also need a SMT heritage unit

The paint job reminds me of the Montana Rail Link paint scheme.
For Those Athearn dash 9 hoods, you are just supposed to squeeze the middle of hood and ot will come off very easy. No need to pry on those tabs from underneath. You can damage them by doing that
I already beat you on the Dukes of Hazzard. Except mine's by Tyco. As we know they had GI Joe A Team and Transformers. nice job
That paint turned out really well, very good looking locomotive, now you just need some sound decoder for a police siren lol

What road number are you going to assign to it? Is the Police Interceptor SMT Mainline RR or city police force? I love that paint scheme. You could create more freight and passenger cars just like it!

Very cool, that's impressive from a rattle can paint. If you want to rid of gloss just Clear coat with some dull coat paint. Nice job.
I would've painted it all white first than done the blue, just to save some effort taping.

Do you know how to take out the sd40-2 shell?
Press and hold the spray, start before one end and follow through past the other end in one single smooth motion. If the paint ends up a bit wrinkled looking or uneven then wet sand it out then apply your clear and polish it.
I would use 90% isopropyl alcohol to strip paint normally

Cool project! Just a few tips. We used to use Easy Off foamy oven cleaner. You have to use the foam version, because the original Easy Off will damage the plastic. Also, when spray painting, you should spray in a continuous motion, length-wise, from just before the shell and stop just past the shell. You'll have less of a chance of runs and sags.
When I saw the thumbnail I thought you repainted the Kato one. Scared me!

Great job by the way....u should of used airplane hobby pinstripe tape...really thin stuff and would of been flawless in those cracks so no paint would of ran out beyond the tape. I've dont n scales with that ....works great!!! Or!!!!...once it cures a little ...gently take a wooden toothpick in the seems and scrape gently then once cleaned up use matte clear krylon in the same can. It will be mint!!! I shouldnt give out my painting tips...cause it works!! Wooden toothpicks only!!!!!
Those cans were in the store before they were made to apply the warnings on them ....old to new stock....

About the white paint smears? IF you can find a Sharpie in the same shade of blue as the Rustoleum, then you can actually draw the blue over those smudges. And...IT WORKS REALLY WELL!!!

What you COULD do is add a blinking red LED into the roof of the cab. I have a couple in one of my blue-box locos. It's easy to wire up, and drilling a small hole in the roof of the cab for the LED is no big deal. I just think it would make a police interceptor loco look a bit more cool...

Hi Harrison, I remember those videos not the MSTS TV one but the ones with the Gerry Reed Songs added to them, both West Bound and East bound , the latter actually had Coors Rail Cars in the consist. Small side note I noticed in the videos that engine on the right side (camera view left) a police badge painted on , wouldn't it be cool if you could find someone to make you a decal to add to the engine. BTW they're still posted here on You Tube.

You should do a video in pulling power between different brands. We did this one night on my layout using a tyco against the older tyco with the mantua motor to pull 10 cars.

The actual MSTS loco is BNSF C44-9 4723. It is still in service with BNSF.
East bound and down was based of the smokey and the bandit which is based around a couple of guys getting bear from texarkana to atlanta

I did not see you clear the nozzle by turning the can upside down and spraying any paint out. This allows you to reuse the can later. Nice video by the way and the paint came out great.Hal
Idk why but this helps for my next project I am gonna be repainting my KATO F40PH (FP40 as you call them) and gallery cars from Metra scheme into Music City Star scheme

Hey Buddy place your paint cans in a bucket of hot water, this will allow the paint to flow more smoothly.
SMT for striping paint why not use a tooth brush after you add on the paint stripper. I’ve seen people do that on videos and it seemed to work really well.
Man that looks so cool! I'm actually going to take a crack at custom decaling a couple of Valuetrainsusa boxcars! I'm planning to do these with an anime theme to them (the blue car will have a "Bleach" theme and the red car will probably have a "Dragon Ball Z" theme, not 100% sure on that one yet) I hope when they are eventually done they'll look awesome! By the way is that acrylic paints your using? Just wondering, thanks and keep up the great work👍!

Nice repainting, you did a good job, however I don't understand why you don't apply the paint using constant pressure on the spay can and with a smooth motion back and forth in order to get an evenly amount of paint all over the surface on the model.

always use lighter coats ad layer of there is small detail. thicker coats out of a rattlecan will clog and not cure properly. especially if no under coat.
