    Seeing her shredding from less than 2 meters distance this Summer was a mindblowing and life-changing experience.

      @@dave.of.the.forrest I've seen them in Milan, Italy. Even the stage wasn't lifted (maybe just a to 10-15 cms elevation) and I stood just behind the VIP spectators in the 2nd (1.5) row. These ladies are really tiny but mighty on the stage :)

    I was in the 1st row on Midori's side in Lindau, Germany. She is mesmerizing with her skill as well as her stage persona. It was difficult to see the other members because my eyes always wanted to wander back to her.

    Midori is a true Guitar Hero. Worked her way up the ESP Gauken ranks too graduate with a degree in music,performance and at instructor level. Her Student/Artist /Teachers were powerhouses in the Japanese Music scene like : Ohmura,Fujioka,Satashi Oka,Syu, Leda,etc....... Her shred sweeping is liquid smooth and her grasp of scales is truly Top Top shelf. She also has a command not common with her tremolo warbles,pinches and squeals,etc...... Her Technical prowess and clarity of play sets her apart from many,many of her contemporaries. And the all important IS THAT she Loves what she does and it shows in Everything she produces. Midori is Lightning in A Bottle imo.

    No1 is Midori.
    No2 is Miyako.
    No3 is Kanami.
    Somehow, even though MIDORI fingers hardly move, the sound is very sharp.
    It's a very efficient technique.
    But disagreement is welcome.
    Let's have fun!

    As a huge Lovebites fan, I obviously love Midori. But Miyako is a little higher in my personal ranking. She plays many different instruments and is also a fantastic composer. Anyone who can do all of this deserves all the respect in the world. But Midori is also great!

    • @dregeye
      @dregeye 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      Well, not to be contrary (& all imo), and I don't "rank" musicians, but I listen to some more than others 😉
      Midori wrote "Glory To The World" "Dancing With The Devil" (demonstrated here) & "We Are The Resurrection".
      Miyako is certainly more prolific, but openly states that many of her songs are not embraced, are left aside, at least until she re-arranges them. Miyako is more accomplished on piano & has education in composing as well as performing on piano.
      What Miyako has on piano, Midori has on guitar. Techniques galore, fluid transitions between all those techniques & a unique sense of expressive melody.
      Miyako is 'self-taught' guitar by learning other's metal riffs & songs and thus has a more familiar approach in solos, now expanding with working closely with Midori.
      Midori deliberately chooses 'the unexpected' which is a big part and appeal of their contrast.
      Their solos in "Stand & Deliver" (shown in this video) is an excellent example of this contrast.
      Even if Miyako can play what Midori plays here, she would never think of it!
      I have total appreciation for both, and that they have come together & remain together. I love that Miyako calls their duets "twin-solos" and her off-stage personality is a priceless enhancement to the whole LOVEBITES experience.
      Midori also plays other instruments, at least piano & organ, though does not show us her other musical skills. We see she has a keyboard right in front of her monitor in the video shown here.
      I could go on with details of observations, but I will just remind you that you commented "Miyako is a little higher in my personal ranking" on a video strictly about Midori. Some might say that is in bad taste. Why bother?
      To (maybe) make this comment worthwhile, watch this Midori solo clip from July 2014 I think few have seen
      th-cam.com/video/RMlL00bgad8/w-d-xo.html Composition of this solo is unsurpassed & she composes all her own solos.

    I love Midori. She is a top worldwide guitarist to me. M&M are the greatest dual leads ever IMO. Miyako is just built different. She got lessons from Midori for speed, and now the difference in shredding speed isn't a wide gap. Miyako adds emotion. Miyako is my favorite musician ever, so call me biased 😁.

    • @SomethingToDo360
      @SomethingToDo360 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      “now the difference in shredding speed isn’t a wide gap”
      Personally I don’t think it was ever “wide”, and I don’t think it was ever the main defining difference between them either, so even though speed does play a roll in helping to define the more technical, it is just one aspect to weigh in the balance here. Anyway, I much prefer Miyako over Midori (with Miyako and Fami as my two favorites), but this strong preference for Miyako over Midori is mainly because of everything else she offers in terms of instrumental possibilities, both through her use of piano playing, and through her ability as a songwriter. She’s a total package. I just don’t see her as equally technical at guitar.

    • @DavidKAnderson

      But then again, Midori has never lacked emotional feel and tone...

    • @DavidKAnderson
      @DavidKAnderson 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@SomethingToDo360 I concur. In Miyako's own words "Midori is faster and more technical than I am." Of course, that's like saying a Koenigsegg is "faster and more technical" than a Ferrari! Miyako's never been lacking in chops.
      The number of technically superb players in that "Japanese female guitarist" niche is mind blowing. Li-Sa X, Sakura Yoshida, Saki, Hazuki, Yuki Osaka (D-Drive, East of Eden), the vastly under-appreciated Tomoko "Tomo-Zo" Midorikawa (Gacharic Spin, Doll$Boxx), fusion great Chizuru Segawa, Kanami Tono, Haruka "HAL-CA" Noma...the list goes on.

      @SomethingToDo360 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@DavidKAnderson “Midori has never lacked emotional feel and tone”
      I agree with this, insomuch as I don’t feel this part creates any sort of separation between Midori and Miyako.
      “The number of technical superb players”
      Yeah, the number is quite high, making ranking them difficult. Even though my favorite band is Lovebites, when just comparing guitarists, I often go with Hal-ca and Li-sa-X over Midori and Miyako (I know this part isn’t going to be popular here). Also since we were mentioning speed, I would like to point out that Hal-ca is so darn fast to the point of actually making some of the others appear slow by contrast. Although this is not the only factor to consider, it goes on the weighing scale with everything else.

    • @mmcpa
      @mmcpa 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@DavidKAnderson If you think Miyako & Midori are equal in emotional playing style, then I totally disagree with you. Miyako has a much more soulful playing style. It's blatantly obvious. Midori is the shredder, and that's blatantly obvious. One is better than the other with their particular skills, which is what makes them so special as dual leads.

    In my opinion, it’s nonsense even trying to compare all the guitarists I just enjoy their playing and, especially, their musicianship. Music is a very subjective matter and it depends on personal preferences and tastes. Who is better, Jimmy Page, Ritchie Blackmore, Eddy Van Halen, Jimmy Hendrix, Marty Friedman, Slash, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, etc.? Obviously I like Midori so much.

    In my opinion, Midori is a bit more technically proficient with guitar than Miyako, while Miyako makes up for this difference in other ways, like with her songwriting and piano skills. I’m probably saying another unpopular thing here, but I’m just being honest. 🤷‍♂️

      Midori technical, Miyako feeling. One thing is Miyako took lessons from Midori for speed, and now that gap is narrow.

    • @SomethingToDo360
      @SomethingToDo360 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@mmcpa “Midori technical, Miyako feeling”
      Miyako is also technical, so I never quite liked the framing of this sort of comment. I also think expressing feeling or emotion within the music, comes in part from a certain emotional or soulful characteristic within the person, and although this ‘feeling’ is considered to be a trait of the Ice Queen (Miyako), I don’t think it quite fits her, at least not in the way I’m describing it here. I feel the same way about different bassists as well, and think some like Juna Serita are actually expressing more feeling or soul than some other bassists, coming from some characteristic within herself, like in this example here: th-cam.com/video/oerl9Ridfmo/w-d-xo.html
      Just sharing my perspective on it.

    • @ricdale7813
      @ricdale7813 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Spot on I agree. Midori is a tad more technical proficient in some areas where Miyako isnt quite the same. But imo that margin is negligible Even Miyako has said Midori has a way of playing and a musical sense on guitar that she just cannot exactly emulate. Which makes their tag Team Guitar Virtuoso duo work as well as it does. If you ever get the guitar music scores from the JPU store you see Midori and Miyakos parts can vary wildly between each other in many songs. But the final product is one seamless bad ass guitar landscape.

      @@ricdale7813 “Spot on I agree”
      I was wondering if people were going to be upset with my post, but it certainly doesn’t look that way. I think my more controversial posts are when I say Fami is overall a more technical bassist than Miho, like in how Fami utilizes more variation, moving smoothly from one bass technique to another: slap and pop, finger style, bass tapping, then adding some harmonics (like in Alien Alien), all while playing fast. In my opinion here, there appears to be a greater gap between Fami and Miho, than there is between Midori and Miyako, at least in terms of a technical display.

    I would never say Midori is better, or more proficient, instead theyre two completely different styles that perfectly compliment each other.. Both have had their individual moments to shine on those guitars.. And do so l I ke nobody else.. My undestanding is they all play piano/ keyboards, just not near as proficient as Miyako ..

    • @SomethingToDo360
      @SomethingToDo360 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      “or more proficient, instead they’re two completely different styles that perfectly compliment each other”
      As to different guitar styles, are you saying that you cannot determine proficiency from style? For example, as if a guitar competition couldn’t be decided unless everything is exactly the same? Also ‘perfectly complement’, isn’t the equivalent to perfectly equal, which you seem to be suggesting.
      I think the people who say the two are perfectly equal in guitar ability, while also saying that Miyako is much better at piano too (like in the exact same post), whether intentionally or not, are actually saying something greater about Miyako, while my post outside this thread is probably overall nicer by contrast to this, even though it doesn’t appear to be on the surface, and even though it wasn’t my goal.
