Hi Gena. Many thanks for your reaction on this song. V said in the Vlive with Jimin that he was inspired by the proposal scene in the English movie ‘About Time’. The male protagonist proposed to the female protagonist while she was sleeping. I watched a reaction video earlier and the guy said that this song is a spirit shower as it can cleanse one’s spirit. Yes, V was the director of this MV, along with being the songwriter and RM helped him with the lyric as he could use limited English vocabulary. He spent many sleepless nights shooting the MV in the midst of his world tour earlier this year. This beautiful song is a gift presented to Army. This song made many Army teared up because his voice contains so much emotions and pureness. I fully agree with your views about his voice, vocal range and fashion style. He is the one who attracts many people joining the Army and I hope Big Hit will give him more chance to showcase his talents. Could you also do a reaction on V’s Singularity and Scenery? @@GenaVlogs Thanks! It's only lately that I learned that Winter Bear is of Indie pop/folk genre but Scenery.... hmmm I think it's more like a Korean ballad. I guess international Army prefer Winter Bear but I love both songs. V has a diverse interest in music ranging from classical, hip hop, indie to jazz, etc. I'm not an expert in music. All I could say is that I love his voice which can always touches my heart.
It’s most likely about his loss of his grandmother, (lyrics and title don’t make sense for a normal relationship story, and he mentions “she”) But anyways he cared so much about his grandma and really expressed his emotions when she passed away, he used to be very childish, and it seemed ever since that and other losses he’s become more serious and chill, like an unspoken emptiness in him that carry’s on, and I thing this song the vibe reflects that, it’s chill but songs melodies hallow with emptiness and longing, but like a promise for something brighter, Ppl think winter bear is about him because of the nick-names but it literally about sleeping like a winter bear, the lyrics “fly to me” “imagine your face, say hello to me” it’s obvious he’s missing his grandma, “fly to me” saying how she’s in heaven as an angel looking after him (he mentioned that when he announced his grandmas death that he’s sure she’s looking after him right now and smiled a lil with tearful eyes) so he misses her and wants her to fly to him, she can see him from heaven, but he can’t see her, so he says “imagine your face say hello to me” so he really missing her wishing for her presence but then says sleep like a “winter bear” and bears during winter hibernate, go for a long sleep, but then spring day will come (reference to their song and concept which was based on missing someone who’s passed) and spring day will be when he gets to see her again in heaven, since she went into sleep like a winter bear, heaven is the light when spring comes, and V said he got inspired by a movie and in the movie a guy proposes to his fiancé while she falls asleep and it’s based on time, but in V’s version he saying to his grandma to rest in peace like a winter bear, almost like a promise “You sleep so happily” “ I wish you good night, good night” but since the song is based on longing, hoping to see her, getting to see her at least once, someone said when the video rewinds, it’s him wanting to rewind back time into his grandmas arms, since life happened the way it did he wants to rewind time to the moments when she was alive,
