I had a 4h layover at JFK in August and luckily, a flight attendant on my flight suggested visiting the TWA hotel. What a brilliant space. I wish we still built ambitious, creative public spaces like that. What most videos about the TWA center don’t capture is the little architectural details, like the small round tiles that cover nearly every original surface.
The TWA terminal was like walking back in time. The refurnished Arrivals/Departures board was a trip to watch. Pre-COVID, the 1958 Constellation aircraft was used as a cocktail lounge. It was also very cool to get to sit behind Howard Hughes desk. The whole experience was a reminder of a different way to travel!
@@iamxjamesross Yes, it brought back the joy of touring this amazing facility with a wonderful group of friends on our way home from World PRIDE/NYC in 2019.
Hello James, how are you? What or whom is beckoning you to Delhi ? Are you beginning a spiritual journey, India 🇮🇳 is definitely the place to discover your Zen. ❤
*James your video sparked my search to learn more about the TWA Flight Center Architect Eero Saarinen. Thank you.* Eero Saarinen was Finnish-American and designed Dulles International Airport Washington DC. and the Gateway Arch in St Louis. Sadly, Saarinen died in 1961 before the TWA project was completed. He was only 51... Thanks for a video that shows a bit of aviation history...and peaked my curiosity to learn more. *I look forward to what you're going to be showing us, when you're ready, about your trip to Delhi.*
You're welcome! I'm glad I could help peak your curiosity! I will hopefully upload the video soon, I have to start working on it, these videos take a long time with editing! :)
Right on, love seeing other people’s point of view of this place! Awesome part of aviation history, I made a Vlog on my visit, let me know what you think, great video
Very cool video! As an aviation enthusiast, I think this is now on my bucket list...particularly checking out the TWA Connie sitting outside! Much better to be there on a true pool day...I can't imagine swimming outside on a day when the temps were like that! BTW, concerning jam and jelly - did the server call it jelly? Jam is more like fruit puree and sugar, jelly has more of a gelatinous texture. Great to see you here again! 💖
I'm glad I added something to the bucket list! It's definitely really cool to see, and you can see it right in the airport too. Honestly, Jam and Jelly all seems the same to me, but I can understand what you mean now you describe it like that! Thanks! :)
Jam is different then jelly out here in the US he called it jelly because it is sweeter and doesn't have any real fruit species in it. Jam is still very much a thing out here.
Congrats on the trip, James! I love aviation history. Awesome tour of that museum/hotel.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Hi, if my connecting flight is also in terminal 5.. after visiting the hotel do I need to go through security check again? Thank you! Great video!
Yes, the hotel is outside of the gate, but it's well worth the trip!
Is there a cost?
