For the millionth time - raising interest rates only curbs inflation that is "demand-driven." This is when people are borrowing and over spending because interest rates are too low. That is not what is happening in Russia (or anywhere else on Earth right now).
You've not factored in all the maths, £35 is the equivalent to a russian pensioners entire week income, so the inflation that's hitting them would be like the British Christmas tree being about £500 to you, so a pretty shocking price.
Instead of worrying about your own inflation in the EU which is worse than Russia, you are talking about Russia. I guess it is more satisfying to talk about others to make you feel like you are not alone in your failure.
The high inflation that the Russian economy is dealing with includes the cost of war, higher wages for the conscripts going to war, the high salaries of millions working in military factories, and sanctions. However, once the war comes to a halt, as eventually all wars do, there will be millions who will be out of high paying jobs, including providing tax revenues back to the state. Thus, inflation, subsequent unemployment, and lowering oil prices will be issues that will continue to drive down the Russian economy and provide a slow, if not a stagnant, recovery. So, even if Russia wins the war, which is doubtful, it still loses a decade of growth. JUST SAYING...
Russia is at war for 3 years but surviving well...inflation is at a high now ... But inflation is very high in UK and France also .... Can you please analyze why ??
UK inflation is 2.6 per cent. Russia claims its inflation rate is 9 per cent but few economists believe this figure. Bank of England base rate is 4.75 per cent, following two reductions in recent months, Russian central bank rate 21 per cent and would probably be higher without the Kremlin's interference. Get your facts straight before you comment.
and everything could have ended without starting in Istanbul 2022. but the greed and stupidity of the Ukrainian leadership, the incitement of the West gave Kyiv instructions for war.

Is this chap working for Russia?.. He certainly isn't an independent journalist or an economist. Russian people are struggling. If you are a pensioner you are on about $140 a month. An average salary is $500 a month. Try paying your rent and buying food on this. Why is butter locked in cases with security tags?. Everything is ok is it?..😂.. I would be a better journalist than this fool. 😂
I also felt that the chap is taking the bright sight for Russia. The facts he mentions (like increased effective salary in some industries) is correct (at least, I heard it from other sources as well). But pensions are indeed 15-20k ruble (still enough to buy 10 Xmas trees) and average income in parts of Russia is below $500. Average is not a good measurement, because of the high inequality of income: Moscow and St Petersburg have high incomes, some people have very high income. That increases the average salary, while the average Russian has the (much lower) median salary.
I don't know, I live in Russia, I'm 35 and for all my life I have never had such a salary as during the war such a feeling that our government begins to work only when life weighs on a thread and as sad as it may sound but it would be better if the war did not end.

Russian will be waiting in line for bread again. Thanks Putin for being a great leader
Remind us when were Russians waiting in line for bread. Was it in the 90's when Russian President was the western puppet? The one presented that danced drunk in front of Clinton and Bush - but west liked Yeltzin and called him democratic leader?
For the millionth time - raising interest rates only curbs inflation that is "demand-driven." This is when people are borrowing and over spending because interest rates are too low. That is not what is happening in Russia (or anywhere else on Earth right now).
The war cost Germany than Russia😂😂😂
Christmas trees costed £35 here in England. That was no inflation?? Okay
Russian inflation: 9.5%
EU inflation: 2.4%

What an incredibly ignorant comment 😂😂
@@nigelgarrett7970 What is Debt of EU countries America canada vs Russia???? Tell me
The high inflation that the Russian economy is dealing with includes the cost of war, higher wages for the conscripts going to war, the high salaries of millions working in military factories, and sanctions.

Russia is flowing with money, that is why there is inflation, and the war with the west (via Ukraine) is boosting the Russian economy.
*Because of his war, there was a "Christmas Day horror crash" news everywhere.*
How many Russian families are mourning for their dead close ones at 2024 Christmas? 10,000 more...?
and everything could have ended without starting in Istanbul 2022. but the greed and stupidity of the Ukrainian leadership, the incitement of the West gave Kyiv instructions for war.
Merry Christmas everyone!
Be blessed!
Looks like Christmas was slightly safer in a country at war than in Germany.

Yes, but obviously not nearly as bad as Russia. All the world’s best economists agree that Russia is in huge trouble, of which it has no way out. It can only get worse.
Russia won't be a country for very long...
