"Four Strong Winds" (Cover): Another Sunday Morning Tune (No. 144 )

In 2005, Ian Tyson's "Four Strong Winds" was voted the greatest Canadian song ever. First recorded by the folk duo, Ian and Sylvia, the song has been covered by many, many people, most notably by Neil Young who performs it often. I spent the summers of 03 and 04 cruising BC on my sailboat and this was played so much on the radio it had become an alternate Canadian national anthem. You know Ian passed a couple of weeks ago. If you haven't found it, search Ian Tyson 50 Years Ago and listen to that one. It's a later song and has a sort of home recording quality but it sure is a beautiful song about an old man reliving his youth which some of as seem to be doing a bunch of these days.

I did know about Tyson's passing. I guess that's what got the song stuck in my head. I had first heard the song in the real old days from Ian and Sylvia, but I most remember listening to a busker in Toronto do it and it was powerful. Your BC sailing days sound marvelous. Thank you for listening.
