He revealed a lot. What an interesting way to describe their minor 'industry' funders (3% of $3million?) who are under particular 'threat' (grog, tobacco and sodas). Sounds so innocent, I almost feel sorry for them. Wish it was longer. Thumbs up to Guyon. Well done for the challenge.
Guyon showed himself as an attack dog, with an agenda and no real fair or balanced outcomes.
The Taxpayers Union needs to extend to Ratepayers, who are getting smashed the the moment with 20% rates increases and councils imposing claims on titles and funding debt off back of value of private property and their ability to use this as security.
For sure, but the "taxpayers union" doesn't support taxpayers. It supports big corporate interests who pay as little tax as possible, certainly a lower % of tax than you do. Also, it's not a union.

@firefox5926 If the government's fiscal position was not so negative and World Economics not was not good at the time, Roger Douglas's ( Thatcher ) thinking would not have become fact. He sold productive assets ( taxpayers /citizens assets), which meant we lost the income streams to pay or contribute to interest on debt. Furthermore we reduced governments ability to influence the market.

What waste happens in private businesses? It affects the price people pay.
Not really, it affects the profits they make, the price is mostly influenced by supply and demand. Private businesses are incentivized to reduce waste because they get to keep any savings. When Governments run out of money they can just demand more.

Comparing the economies of NZ and AU is a fatuous exercise where AU is rich in minerals where our country is primarily farming and horticulture.

A USA economist has shown that since the mid 80s production gains have been passed on to employees at lower % than when unionized workforce existed.
It's the decisions we make, we have a lot of minerals we refuse to dig up. Singapore is also rich with a similar population and no natural resources.

I wasn't sure how fair this would be - then saw Guyon's shirt. I really shouldn't have expected anything fair. Government (more so under Jacinda and Grant) funded we can't expect anything but a view against the centre or right, even if thats the fairly elected Government.
