  • I was originally going to drive to Iowa for RAGBRAI with my mom and friends, but I decided at the last minute to ride! 600 miles and a whole lotta heat and headwinds stand in my way. let's do this!
    In this episode, my little neighbor dyes my hair pink, and I leave behind the Rocky Mountains for the eastern plains of Colorado.

    Your video brings back some memories of my ride across the country in 2011 from San Francisco to Boston. My ride that day was from Fort Collins to Fort Morgan but I see it looks like we travelled on the same route starting around Greeley. Had to laugh when I saw the segment when you stopped at the mini-mart in Kersey for fuel. I was running out of water when I passed through downtown Kersey, which you show at 12:00 , and there wasn't anything open except a saloon so I stopped in and the bartender filled my water bottles. Little did I know there was that mini-mart right there up ahead at the intersection with US 34 where, just like you, I stocked up on fuel. The primary reason I chose that day's route was the very nice wide shoulders on 34 rather than the more direct route on 14 which had little to no shoulder.

    Hello Ryan, It was nice to have met you…Day Two, Adair…we were eating home made ice cream in front of a church when you happened to walk by...had to say hello! Egads man! You called me hardcore for participating in 13 RAGBRAIs…hardly my friend..you are truly a HARDCORE ADVENTURER! Boulder to CB during a heatwave? WOW...I'm not worthy…ha! Again, LOVE the videos! Keep up the good work! And remember…the two most powerful words in the universe (Or at least in mine)…..BIKE ON!

    Good to see another video again biker brother! I was getting worried about you. I actually have some news. Your videos on RAGBRAI made me ask a friend if he wanted to do it in 2020! Now I'm hoping I can do it. I'm in rehab after my second leg amputation, but assuming I can ride I'll be spending the whole year training for the 2020 RAGBRAI. We will have to meet up and bike a bit next year.

      @KimAcheson 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@duzer Ya, that will be cool to see. I have found a few single amputees on bikes and less double amputees. So we have room to grow and get more amputees on bikes!

    That looks like a Canadian penny (8:09). Maybe I dropped it in Boulder when I was there...about 15 years ago! I love Boulder and hope to return. The flatirons are indeed the signature of Boulder. The Pinion Priority is perfect for that dusty gravel road and smooth tarmac. No derailleurs to fuss with, no chain to lube!

    I am so glad I can follow you on another bike adventure. We left Denver on Amtrak Sat. 7/20 and there were several people on the train heading to RAGBRAI. Unfortunately heavy rains caused lots of flooding through Colorado and Nebraska making the train 11 hours late, and all those bikers missed the first day. I had breakfast with a couple trying to figure out if UberX could help them catch up. I hope to one day experience RAGBRAI, but I think I will drive to Iowa and not rely on the train.

    My apartment complex has flags as I leave my driveway, and they determine what direction I go on the riverway. Some days I don't mind fighting them out, some days I don't mind fighting them on the turnaround back home. Just depends on my mood.
