I can barely even get to the shops since having 2 young kids. You’re carrying one, wheeling another and yet still having fun travelling/ at Whitby etc. Hats off to you and thanks for the fun videos!

The Steam Punks started turning up about 2007, just paraded about the town, unfortunately I think they were responsible for creating the large public crowds who go to take photos. Most of the Goths I knew hated having picture taken and avoided the old town from Saturday till Monday. I do miss the town.
When you told that person "No I'm just me" brought me back to my high school years although I don't appear Goth on the outside I'm Goth in my spirit always but Halloween time I always got asked "Huh huh What are you going as yourself?" and I'd always be like "Why yes thanks for asking" lol

If you’re having hearing issues, also get tested by audiologist for Otosclerosis, it’s a slightly rare genetic disorder, can be triggered by pregnancy, affects hearing. I thought same, was going deaf from shows. Only know cause I have it 😂

Whitby is one of my favourite places. I was there at Halloween thus year. Been to that rock shop and my son wanted to get cannabis flavoured rock. Can't imagine it was particularly tasty. We went to the Abbey to see it illuminated.
Out of complete curiosity, what is the dead give away for people who dress up as a goth and you immediately know are goths?

Nice to see you got to Whitby. You should definitely go out on the Bark Endeavour next time. We call it the bouncy boat and generally go en masse and sing along with the sea shanties. There is a small Captain Cooke museum in the old town as well plus there is also a rather cheesey pirate crazy golf in one of the arcades that is fun on a rainy day.
The museum in Pannett park is good too. Lots of fossils, a weather machine powered by leeches and a hand of glory.
Years ago all the goths used to really dress up especially for Friday and Saturday night at the Spa but since the people who come to dress up for the photographers, it's almost as if the goths dress down to get around without being hassled. I don't have a problem with people dressing up but they do often take accommodation and aren't buying tickets for the music events meaning goths are out in outlying areas like Robin Hoods Bay because they can't get a cottage and events can struggle to sell out. I do get why people want to come and join in with dressing up though.
I don't know if you have read any of Paul Magr's Brenda and Effie books about the bride of Frankenstiein and a rubbish witch guarding the hellmouth under Whitby but the hotel you stayed in is definitely the Christmas hotel in the books. If you haven't come across them before they're fun. Never the Bride is the one that comes to mind but there's a whole series of them.

I was keeping a look out in these videos for my aunty, she went and bought me a little dracula keyring and a bat stuffed toy.
At events (mostly reenactments) when people ask who I'm supposed to be. I tell them "myself". Even better I just say what I am. Then when they ask my real name and stuff, I repeat what I said before.
