its the way you are Forced to pay attention to him when he performs. Watch their Immortal Songs stages, all 3 of em (FYI they won 2 out of 3, which is an insane feat) and when Hongjoong takes the stage, its like, the entire stage and environment focus itself on him.

In regards to Yunho, I always attribute his comparatively less "intense" expressions to the fact that if you watch him dance IRL or in fancams he literally has to FIGHT not to smile when he dances. That's just kind of his natural inclination and expression. Their concepts are always charismatic but he literally RADIATES joy when he dances (i say this as not even a Yunho bias lol) so it goes against his instincts I think. He loves it and it's so precious when he gets to dance and he doesn't have to control his expressions. He's always so bright then. I hope they can do another WAVE kind of concept soon. It was so nice to see the contrast. Thanks for your lovely commentary. Hope you are doing well!

@키미 in general, he is a human full of joy & positiveness that it's really overwhelming. Being able to hide this side of yourself to perform like that needs really talent & dedication. I love how he can't hold back his smile while dancing (as you can see in various old fancams), but the way he is now able to push this aside is incredible. He was always very talented, never got appreciated for it. But now? He improved so much that people don't praise him for his dancing in general, but his improvement, which is even better. They finally see what his internal struggles were & how he overcame them to be the professional performer we all know & appreciate now. I'm massively proud of yunho & how he grew in the past years. Damn loving this boy too much hours are open again i guess xD

I understand he sometimes might be shadowed by San, Hongjoong and Seonghwa when it comes to overall stage presence, but I'm so happy people are finally seeing how much he has to offer

Recently, I feel like they been focusing on showcasing Yunho, Seonghwa, Yeosang and Wooyoung. The others were the eye catching members, but now that they’ve been doing this, I feel like every member is getting some kind of recognition which makes me really happy :)

YES I notice too that Hongjoong is so fluid, soo natural always having fun, like a fish on water, and more than getting in role I think he is feeling the present and environment with concentrated energy on him hypnotizing everyone but at the same time in other dimension and all the expressions and emotions comes totally natural for him like he doesn't need to fake it just pops up, he doesn't need to do extra effort that's why I'm so amazed! And when he does makes expressions on purpose you notice the difference but he doesn't have to, I think may be even better when he doesn't act on purpose? Like at the end of mama he had that expression bc he was kinda mad he thought he didn't find the camera or something so that was real! And when he is having fun(practically always) you can notice his smile and moves are real he doesn't have to make himself on a happy mood like in Wave or Illusion and fake smiles be he is already content! And even off stage in schedules or normal life he has that presence he doesn't need to do extra bc he already is expressive and transparent with his emotions, but also have the collected and elegant yet warm inviting aura, very charming and again hypnotizing that steals your attention!

Finally someone else who mentions that this song was teased at the end of Thanxx. I noticed right away that I had heard the melody before so I went back to listen to the previous release which was Thanxx. It makes me excited for the next comeback since I assume that as the ending teaser wasn’t on the album it will be part of their next comeback as well.

I think as a fan, mingi's absence just dampens the energy a bit. Mingi has always been uniquely impactful on his own and it contributeds to the color of an MV... But him just being represented in the radio....sombers a lot of the energy from the MV.
Nothing against his absence... We're glad he's recovering. But it's also not quite the same. To anyone new, they won't notice it.... But to all that knows... It's just different

They'll have more videos for this album and they need money for Kingdom that's why they probably they didn't put a lot of budget although I think it's not a small budget
I think also its because mingi is missing, the story is created and probably planned already. So i guess this mv is them “waiting” for mingi, which is why they’re sitting listening to the radio. And the action and big budget will come when mingming comes back
from what I read, idols need to pay for every official MV which is one of the way to support the budget, and that includes Ateez too. Remember at weekly idol when others surprised that Ateez have 2 MVs instead of only one? Yeah cuz that cost idol's money, and they only rookie at that time. So KQ tone down the budget for fireworks is good too, considering that Mingi is not taking part of the filming, and they need to consider payment for other projects too (mostly on Kingdom)
This is why San is called SataN. I truly believe he's got an alter ego when he's dancing. That one part on the Seo Taiji performance really proved it to the whole world
we don't even need to explain why we all generally agree that san has a dancing beast inside waiting to be uleashed but we also need to talk more about how incredibly controlled and slick he can be with his dancing when he has to be. the beginning of this song is the perfect example. he even said "it has to be done in a gentle manner, but heavily" and that's exactly how he did it. you can see what i mean much better in the performance preview they released before the mv. no one does it smoother than him. and as many people have said already, he knows when he needs to tone it down, and when to bring it up. and switches between both seamlessly. he's both extremes and the very balance of them. the type of born performer i've never seen before

About yunho, i saw so many people saying that “he fights against not to smile during performances” and tbh i don’t get it. Yes he is a bubbly person and it’s naturally in him to smile so much but i feel like other than fan meetings and less strict performances you can literally see that serious side of him during performances. When he smiles, it’s right on time that it doesn’t make the performance bad for me tbh. It just looks GOOD. Also lately, he’s improved A LOT in his facials. He’s been showing his demonic side more. I also believe that the reason behind him being under appreciated is the company for not giving him enough chance to shine especially with his dancing skills. He is absolutely an amazing dancer. Personally one of my favorites in kpop. He deserves more center and eye catching parts
when he talks about seonghwa I feel so represented....
If Mingi was in the video for his rap portion, I think that would have brought another level of power to the first half of the MV.
The fact that they included Mingi in the form of a "radio" when he's still recovering has made us all Atinys very emotional!

Every time I watch this MV I'm even more struck by Wooyoung's dancing when he's in the center. It looks like he's improvising and just grooving with the beat. It's soooo difficult to make something learned feel genuine--props!
My favorite part about this comeback was yeosang’s consistent screen time and the lines he got throughout the song ㅠ finally after 2 years lol
Yes, I'm just slightly upset that they didnt give him all the bulnuriya parts at the end of each chorus except the end, his voice is great for it, and if we really think about it, he still has very little lines. However, I'm glad he got the ending fairy and the 2nd line of the song in which we actually hear him sing louder like smn era
Please keep in mind they all have different voice tones and that Ateez songs usually are better suited for the other members with higher voice tones. This one really suits Yeosang's low tone which is why it's easier to give him parts more eavenly in the song. He still has about the same amount of lines, but to me it sounds like they use his voice a lot in the backing track (with Yunho and Seonghwa).
@@amya6939 Letting him do it alone at the end is that final touch which makes it a great way to end the song. If he had done it earlier in the song it would've been repetative and wouldn't have had the same effect at the end 😊

Maybe I’m the only one but I am obsessed with that performance video they first released. It feels like electric sparks coming out of it. It doesn’t feel like the mv lives up to that. It’s still really good but that performance video was INCREDIBLE

More than anything, I really love how they got super adventurous and experimental with their music in the zero fever series, not to mention the growth of the members individually... Super excited for Kingdom! Both their slower songs and harder hitting hype songs are absolute bangers - though I'm pretty sure we all knew that - so I loved this just as much I loved inception and the many songs that came before it. With that said, I'm curious to see what PD thinks about Take Me Home! IMHO, its an absolute masterpiece. It's like that new fix of drugs that I need in my system everyday, mashing that song on repeat every single hour of every waking day ever since the album dropped.
PD, You are going to loveeeeee "take me home" from fever part 2. Trust me on this, it's the nostalgic type you like.

I totally agree with the first part of the music video being visually dead apart from the members' energy and here is the reason which I came up with:
In one of their concept teasers for this comeback, there was a voice over by maddox in which at some point he went, that "the boys" would revive the dark dead world with their voice and energy. And I think that's why the first part of the mv was scenically bland, it was a representation of the dead and rotting world but then ATEEZ gives new life to it and brings the light and energy back with their performance and thus, the second part ends up being so alive and magnificient!

I love when ATEEZ does the epic/dramatic. HALA HALA/SMN/ANSWER and a lot of their b-tracks (Precious, Horizon). I love when they incorporate the intro music (HALA Expression Revisited), Declaration (before Answer)and the Long Journeys. I feel that when they incorporate those into their track list just brings them on such a whole new level and sets them apart from so many of the other Kpop groups. I wish we got to see more of that from them. I feel this is a fun track for them, like when they performed THANXX, that was so of the most fun they looked like they had on stage. I see this being on the same lines of that.I have loved Yunho from the beginning. I love the fact that he can never sit still. He LOVES performing and I feel he's more on the quiet side but when he's on stage he is able to be in his element. Hongjoong is on such a different level. He's so dynamic. And San...oh San...San performs with his body and soul. Even when he "marks" it, he still can't help but feel himself (figuratively and literally).

At around 4:02 when San is sitting against a wall singing Look at those drunk fools, and turns his face toward the camera, he is so drop dead handsome, I am stunned.
I felt EXACTLY the same when Wooyoung came on screen. ATTACKED
I'm a communication designer, so while I'm not a professional in videography in any way shape or form, I spend a LOT of time thinking about visual communication. I think your reaction is spot-on; the dusty, dry visuals at the beginning of the video do their job in telling the story of the video and setting the viewer up for the grand finale. In that sense, the video has really good visual communication. Filling up the beginning with aesthetic fluff wouldn't make sense. But I feel like there could've been a way to keep the good story communication, while also making the beginning a bit more visually engaging. I don't know if it's altering the use of color and setting in the outdoor shots, or something more intentional in the design of the indoor spaces (idk how a claustrophobic underground bunker can feel empty but it does at some points), but a dusty industrial apocalyptic video doesn't have to be lacking in engaging visuals (just look at mad max fury road!) and a couple small tweaks to this mv could've taken it from an 8 to something spectacular.
Yunho is really like an energizer.. Idk, every time he appears, i just wanna smile

Great point about ATEEZ knowing how to "end" songs! I totally agree, while in this song I was hoping for a changed-up final chorus, they really deliver in their other songs by having great bridges or wacky final choruses (like Say My Name, Pirate King,)
I was waiting so much for this one! It's really heartwarming listening to you talking about San and how his inner demon shows on performances like this, he was born to be on stage and it shows. There's something about him that keeps you looking at him and in the blink of an eye he's another person, he literally becomes the character that the song tells him to potray and that's amazing.
