In MTC you can interact in your oponent turn, so aggro has a huge disadvantage, and in MTG you do not have a health cap, so in theory, if you heal for 200, you have 200 + your initial life, there are a lot of other motives to make aggro actually the good guys in MTG.
You guys are both wrong. His nickname is Brian "Please don't call me Brian 'Brian Kibler' Kibler from Brian Kibler Gaming" Kibler from Brian Kibler Gaming.
this video was uploaded in 2015, the same year that i started playing Magic, also when i was 13. i got to know him from his hearthstone gameplay shortly after. and now he's back playing magic again.
Now Brian is playing Hearthstone, very well, and with a smile on his face. He also broadcasts the highlights on to TH-cam very often and almost always laughs after he wins. It's nice to watch because he's not in the room with the other person so he can say his thought process out loud to the stream and you can truly understand what is going through his mind.
The best thing about Brian is that he is really a good guy! The kind of person that you would want to represent your game & your community. Thanks for posting this as it was very well done!
I love this. I don't care what he's like in private, his professional attitude inspires me to want to play the game even more. I've been into pro gaming for awhile but I've never had an athlete that I liked until watching this biopic. Thank you for the content and know you've made a video that will greatly impact how I play magic.
This was an excellent video; really dove deeper behind the game besides mechanics and specific cards. It really brought out the magic in Magic, and I thank you for that.
I've been playing Magic off and on since the mid 90's, and there's no better advice than "play to your strengths." It's something that I don't do nearly as often as I should, simply in the pursuit of fun.
@@tempestandacomputer6951 It's actually from Hearthstone, where he also competed and commentated for a while. There people's name cards were typically displayed as [First name] "ingame name" [last name], which in his case was Brian "Brian Kibler" Kibler. I assume he expressed his dislike towards this at some point and thus the meme of Brian "Please don't call me "Brian "Brian Kibler" Kibler" Kibler was born.
This reminds me a bit of when I found out Day[9] was a Champion Starcraft player at 17. I was introduced to him as a TH-camr who did strategy guides; I didn't realize he had such a storied tournament past.
I love the competitive spirit. All the greats of any medium, whether it's card games or sports or any other competition, sound exactly like him. They needed to be the best and would never go halfway into something.
Well edited and narrated! loved the documentary. I'm new to Magic and it's channels like this that spark that fascination in me to learn more. It's amazing to see the depth of this game.
As a yugioh player, really appreciate the way magic allows players show up to an event with a completely custom deck and have a chance at winning. In yugioh there might be 5% of winners playing something self made and unique and that is a stretch. The best you get usually is a meta deck with a few tech cards here and there
Pretty sure he is an inspiration to so many people who play the creature strategies. Seeing him play GW Hatebears against Ben Stark and Naya Zoo at GP Richmond just help push the idea that non-conventional play styles aren't synonymous with bad play styles.
Its interesting seeing his Magic History as a Hearthstone player. Personally, i always assumed he got the nickname "Dragonmaster" and his "Dragon Army" idea from Hearthstone since he was one of the bigger advocates for Dragon Priest prior to Whispers of the Old Gods release, but its interesting to learn that it was a unconventional card and strategy that earned him the name. Good to see Kibler hasn't changed too much.
Dear Brian, im going to a qualifier tournament today.. and im gonna try to be just like you.. the swag, the smile and hopefully the skill.. Gruul for life... hope i d good!! 😎
This was a great feature. Even having been playing the game for over ten years it's this video that made me realize that some Top 8's and above can actually look good on a resume (if you're applying for a game design job at least). The only criticism I have is that like the artist videos features like this should have their own series. Just don't name them 'Inside the Artist' and 'Inside the Player'. I mean I'm surprised 'Judge's Corner' isn't lumped into 'Inside the Deck'.
Does Kibler still play magic? I actually know him for streaming hearthstone and his affinity for dragon based decks. I guess his love of dragons goes back much further then.. that's pretty awesome.
Viva La VS. System! Some of us know Brian as the inventor of Common Enemy, the Doctor Doom/Fantastic Four deck that would remain relevant for the entire history of the game where it’s signature card was legal (4 drop Dr. Doom made 2 of the 3 VS. Pro Circuit finals it was legal for.)
man, I love this.
Hey sam, why dont you try to do some historical card stuff, like for instance "Art of Time Spiral", in addition to your current art stuff?
TheMagicManSam
Hey man like your stuff
Blast from the past
hi sam
The funniest thing about Kibler being famous for playing the aggro in MTG is that now, as a Hearthstone player, he's a grindy value-control player.
he still plays dragon decks doe :)
Yeah... value taken to a disgusting degree.

Because I think in Magic controls are considered to be the "evil guys", and aggro are the "good guys". But in HS it's the exact opposite.
In MTC you can interact in your oponent turn, so aggro has a huge disadvantage, and in MTG you do not have a health cap, so in theory, if you heal for 200, you have 200 + your initial life, there are a lot of other motives to make aggro actually the good guys in MTG.
Kibler: What? Magic has a hall of fame and I'm not in it? Hold my beer.
oh man, i dont even play magic but i know him from hearthstone...full respect for this guy
You should play Mtg it's amazing! I played HS but mtg is still the better tcg.
Man, I love Brian "Stop calling me "Brian "Brian Kibler" Kibler" Kibler. Of Brian Kibler Gaming.
hahahaha
Prof 1 н
There is no other word I can think of for this besides fantastic.
TheManaSource what about the fact he's moved to hearthstone now
@@doncon_380 What about the fact that he's playing MTG again?
I'm glad Natalie made him shave
right? all respect to the man. but his chin simply was not constructed for that beard.
They call that beard the "Christian Snowboarder"
Bo Bobby I'm pretty sure it's the Smash Mouth All Star.
He shaved it before he met Natalie. According to her, she never would have dated him in the first place if he had it when they met.

Eravar The Slayer and he's one of the top players in that too
this guy is my hero for magic

This was a wonderful video. It truly was.
it's great to see someone with a similar deck building style as oneself and win big, this guy is awesome.

I love these Inside the Decks but amazing production value on this one. Awesome work!
Brian's Analytical mind is beyond amazing, watching him predict exactly what is going to happen just blows the mind.
A great tribute for a great person, player, streamer and caster. Thanks for the video, it was really emotional to know more about his career.
Definitely one of my favorite pro players. Looking forward to seeing more of these from Inside the Deck. :)

Recommended 9 years later, still an awesome video.
I really hope we can get another one of these soon. This was a brilliant video. Brian Kibler is my second favorite Magic player ever
daamn. I discovered Kibler through Hearstone. i had no idea he was such good magic player
I remember reading his articles online back in 03 and 04. He was always a Hall of Famer in my eyes
Just now learning MTG and Brian is a wonderful advocate and champion from what I've seen on his YT

Having started playing Magic last year and hearing Kibler’s voice but seeing such a younger different face is dope.
-"You're not HOF material."
-"Yes I am"
-"No you are not"
-"Hold my beer" -> *Becomes a legend.*
I mean everyone knows his true title is "The Most Handsome Man In Magic"
I really enjoyed. I wished his decks would have been showcased more.
Love these vids, keep up the good work

This is better than Enter the Battlefield. I'm not kidding.
Kibler looks even younger and healthier now
Isn't he the shufflemaster too? :D
Do more of these!!
Lets see one for Kai and Chapin, maybe even someone like LSV
Amazing video
Kibler and Finkel are my favs, but thats not suprising anyone.
One of my favorite hearthstone streamers. Didn't realize he was a god at magic too.
Seeing this coming from the Hearthstone community makes me happy to get surprised that Kibler is this good at mtg as well. 🎉
While Mr. Kibler is my role model, I'd like to see one about Jon Finkel, oh wait you guys did that already, awesome keep doing it.
Besides all of his oter achievements there was that one time he broke standard with caw-blade. That was a thing hahaa
HE made Cawblade? I thought I loved him but now, I think I need to mull over some things
Brian Kibler you are my HERO!
Amazing video, about an amazing man/myth/legend.
This music is very nice

Those were the days guys. When Magic was an epic game and not just a cheap cash grab.
Brian kibler is awesome i love watching his streams
I love dragons. And I want to play a dragon deck in modern. To show big mana cards can be played outside of combo decks or Tron decks.
Does Kibler still play magic? I actually know him for streaming hearthstone and his affinity for dragon based decks. I guess his love of dragons goes back much further then.. that's pretty awesome.
He does on occasion even though Hearhstone seems to be his main game now.
Neat video. Who's the host, the voice sounds kind of familiar?
Seeing him without a beard feels really weird now.
This man is the one who convinced me to return to my RG roots
Man if only WOTC did quality content like this.

and Hex
im beyond curious how long this all took to put together, and if you guys plan to do the chamber of the snake.
Brian rocks Magic for years, leaves, the MTG people say "Well, no Hall of Fame for you", and Kibler just said "Bet?", returned, rocked Magic again. 😂
