Well the Philippines is high on english language proficiency because we're so obsessed with the west that we literally have "English" as a subject in our curriculum since 1st grade all the way to college/uni.

While in school, it would be more efficient to teach subjects like Mathematics, Sciences, and the likes in English as majority of the terms do not have corresponding Filipino word.
