@@devinsonam yes I do. It’s a large empty wall space and I’m copying your design. I love the way u did the lighting also. I watched your video over and over so I think its pretty much stuck in my brain. So once again thank u and big hugs for that beautiful baby.
Hi, Devin. Came across your video. Your idea incorporates the mildly rustic look I'm looking for and looks really great! Since I'll be DIY'ing, I'm most concerned about how much weight can be put on the shelves. I assume you screwed the brackets to the studs in the wall? How did you determine how thick of a bracket you needed and the number of them you needed? Are any of your pots ceramic? Since you did this years ago, is there anything you would have done differently? Thank you!
I went with the thicker brackets but most of these types of brackets can handle a lot of weight and since I had multiple per shelf it helps distribute the weight. The boards are really thick, so that helps with the weight it can handle. I never worried about weight bc of the lumber used. I screwed all the brackets into studs. I don't think I would change anything about the style, I could have even gone with a thinner board to reduce weight on the brackets. Hope that helps!
100% Yes, you nailed it! It was nice before but wrought iron n wood just pops and I love what you did and now I may have an idea for my own new apartment livingroom wall. Thank you for taking the time to share your journey w/us n God bless y'all! P.S. What a cute baby girl you have there n so good natured n quiet for mommy. 😇
Great video for ideas for my plants both live plants & my artificial plants that I didn't know how to use them in our new home. Your baby is adorable, too.
I just want to say, this helped me out a lot, I'm not using it for plants but books. I was stuck on how I was going to paint the wood and the type of brackets to use but you saved me thank you.
@@devinsonam yes, that's my plan I actually just went to Kent and picked up some wood to make shelves and a few small cactus plants ... Starting small see how I go
Totally love the after. I'm going to buy my wood tomorrow, been watching videos to see which thickness and stain I like. You totally nailed it I love this. Thank you for sharing.
I really like your shelves framing the window! I've added the lights you added to the top shelf to my shopping list. We have a lot of dark months. Lights are needed!
Thanks! I actually have updated the lights i use up there to strip LED lights. I made a video with the updates th-cam.com/video/6l-Q492zzoo/w-d-xo.html if you're interested!
That looks great! The center really needed that. Purchased ikea shelves that are not yet up. The 12" width looks great on yours but the small plant room I have almost makes me feel I won't see the plants. Shelf width is about 11 3/4. So just ordered their smaller one. And they're so heavy. Love your bracket idea. Afraid the brackets from ikea I have won't hold. The shelves have quite some weight to them.
I’m putting up shelves as well for my plants as well. But would like to know what is the width of your woos boards plz, and where did you purchase the wood boards from?
Awesome job on the shelves Devin ! This has been exactly what I've been looking for ! Thank you so much for sharing ! Happy New Year 2021 to you & your family 🎉🎊 God Bless .
That's a good question! I wanted some space to walk behind the table and try to avoid animals knocking down my plants. That window is a North facing window covered with trees so it doesn't get that much light, but I see why it would make sense to put it under the window!
Your baby is absolutely adorable. Looked like a little bobblehead outside the way the video was..LOL. Such a good baby. Why didn't you at first use the under shelf brackets where the shelf was held from underneath and had a strong support. Looks very good. God bless you and yours🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 It really is beautiful, you did a great job. Hugs for your little darling 🥰🥰 pls know my comment about your beautiful baby being a bobblehead was due to the video doing odd things in the background. It was on fast speed. LOL. Just soooo cute and so good..God bless🙏🏼🙏🏼
Wow I love it I have 15 plants and my mo Send her 7 plants and one cactus. They all in hobby room. Thru don’t like less light room. My hobby room is full sun.
I think you could make one that looks similar pretty easily. Buy a set of 4" (or your preferred height) on Amazon and maybe a wooden round (they have them at lowe's/home depot for about $10) and just paint or stain the wood and attach the legs and voila
Really like this and looking to do something similar. Do your pots have holes in the bottom? As water can go everywhere if they do? I was thinking of putting long concrete slipped trays to catch the water run out of my plants.
Great job on the plant shelves! They really bring a warm touch to the room and the plants look beautiful and happy!
Thank you! Exactly what I was going for.
Yes I agree
I love these shelves. Love the brackets. They are larger than most and give it a nice sturdy look. This is now on my wish list.
I like the way it looks now.
Omg I am so jealous. And with a baaaby? Good good job. I absolutely love every thing about it.
Thank you! Do you have a space where you can create the shelves? or something similar?

Thank you! I really like the wood and iron mixture too. White was clean but this makes more of a statement.
So cute! Pretty much the style I'm going for but dont have as much natural lighting on my wall so figuring out how to add lights to keep them growing
So I added in strip LED grow lights from Amazon. In my Grow Lights video I talk about them! I updated them from this video to add more light.

You are great at styling shelves!!! These turned out great!

beautiful
Devin, this video is wonderful!! Super informative, and VERY thorough. Well-done!
Beautiful, try adding some bowls or the disk that catch the water over flow to prevent damage to the wood.
Yes! Since filming I’ve added trays under the plants that have a pot w a hole…got too messy!
I am super impressed, love everything about this! I will give it a go in my living room.
Thanks! I’m happy you’re gonna try it too 👏🏻
Good job, well done & planned out ! Good tools too

They look great! Thanks for sharing how you got some extra light to the plants. I was wondering about that while you were styling.
I love how you made this look. What is the name of the plant next to the arabic writing frame? a potato vine or a neon pothos?
It's a neon pothos!
You did an amazing job! 👏🏽 👏🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Beautiful, inspiring, talented. Where did you purchase the brackets?
Thank you! I purchased them off Etsy but lately I have been seeing them at Home Depot.

amazing, inspired to do the same
Awesome look!
I’m putting up shelves as well for my plants as well. But would like to know what is the width of your woos boards plz, and where did you purchase the wood boards from?
I believe the width was the standard 10" boards from home depot or Lowes if don't have Home Depot. They are a lumber piece of wood.
Perfect.
Love it going to do that same
Excellent
Love your shelves! Curious how much space is between each shelf?
I believe about 11”

That's a good question! I wanted some space to walk behind the table and try to avoid animals knocking down my plants. That window is a North facing window covered with trees so it doesn't get that much light, but I see why it would make sense to put it under the window!

@@robertvega8854 Thank you and you're welcome! Means a lot to me

OMG… love this! So pretty! I also do my own shelves!
Can this same technique be applied to outdoor use? I'd like to put shelves on the side of a shed in my garden.
I would say so! I would just make sure you get an outdoor stain and sealant to protect it from water and such.
love it..
make a video how to make plant self.

Love it 😍I'm trying it soon!
How far apart did you space the shelves? Did you do a 12” or 16” spacing?
Mine are actually 19” apart. I measured from the top of my window then made them tall enough to hold taller plants.
Really like this and looking to do something similar. Do your pots have holes in the bottom? As water can go everywhere if they do? I was thinking of putting long concrete slipped trays to catch the water run out of my plants.
Since creating these shelves I’ve put trays under all the pots! It was getting too much to take each one to the sink to water and let drip 😂
