What about one of my absolute favourites, a short sleeved crewneck sweatshirt. Fits kind of boxy/oversized, collar hugs the neck. Works perfectly with grey sweatpants, but can look too casual, like you're just chilling in bed or whatever. Personally I don't care though, I am more comfy in sweats and for me when ir comes to sweatshirts and tees, a thicker, higher collar that hugs the neck, like a mock neck even, is essential. I do like a slightly baggy, boxy fit as well, because I just don't find tighter sleeves and chests to be comfortable. If my t-shirt is a little too long or baggy, I do like to tuck it in and that way I still get the boxy, slightly oversized look, but the length doesn't ruin it. The main thing I don't like with t-shirts and sweatshirts is necklines that are too wide, sit too low or have a really thin line and not a thicker one. I just find it looks ugly and messy. A tighter neckline that hugs the neck doesn't stretch easily and keeps it's form, so I don't have ro keep worrying about how I look or pulling the back of my shirt down to pull the neckline up more.
I recently got gifted V-neck sweaters but wore with crew neck T-shirt & felt something was off. I’ll try it out with a dress shirt 👔. Thanks
Turtle necks are my new favorite. Especially rolled over. It's a classy smart look
I'm surprised you felt that quarter zip sweaters shouldn't be worn by anyone under 40 because their very popular now. They give younger people an elevated sporty sweater option without looking like their grandparents. You left out sweater vest, which I'm not a fan of wearing by themselves, but I do think are great for layering, especially if you are wearing an overcoat by itself & need something thicker over a t-shirt to balance out the look. How about a video on how to wear western style since you're the stylist for Keven Costner, who's staring in Yellow Stone? 🤠
Might be your best video yet! I learned so much!
I've gone with branded, embroidered-logo 1/4 zips for corporate tradeshow attire precisely because it ages up our staff (lots of folks in their 20s) and helps us give off an air of experience/knowledgeability.
Learned a lot today. I was just trying to figure out the difference about all these just recently. Thank you, Ashley. This was done so well. Keep it up.
Great video Ashley! I opened TH-cam this morning for some ideas on how to wear a sweater and your video popped up first. Thanks!
Absolutely fabulous - so much quality information here. I love your channel.
Thank you for the video! I love Merino wool and my go to's are crew and V neck in a solid color. I still like my quarter zip but mine has a small pattern across the chest which is probably a ski sweater so I only wear that with jeans. Fitted right, I have gotten complements on all of them. I think a good sweater will highlight your silhouette
I agree with everything besides the quarterzip can only be worn by older guys lol. Great video!
Ashley I respect you I need videos like these
The quarter zip sweater does not make you look older and I have worn my merino wool polo sweater with a blazer.
So much great information! Thank you Ashley!
I have a Massimo Dutti merino wool polo sweater that fits perfect but it’s just a smidge short on the wrist. It falls at the wrist bone but during the day it hikes up. Is this OK or will I look like Peewee Herman? Lol
This one is my favorite video so far.
13:50 - that is a V neck, not a crew. Ashley, details!!!
I have silk cotton roll neck sweater for summer and wool one for winter and fall
Excelentes consejos. Gracias.
Great and very timely video!
whats your thoughts on sweater vest?
Ashley is the best as always, thank you so much.
what, no sweater vests????
This video was informative, thank you.
can you do a video for wool trousers? and some recommendations?
I appreciate the review when you state why it works or why it doesn't. In some of your videos some options are crossed out with no reason whatsoever
Loved the video, absolutely agree. I have seen so many people wearing collar shirt on crew neck sweater nd crew neck tshirt on v neck Sweaters. It looks extremely nerdy, i would suggest guys stop copy pasting the outfit of models, models nd celeb are extremely good looking people, they will even look great in blazer with sweatpants.
Ashley, make a video how to dress if you are large guy...What to dress alone, without layering...Give us some examples...
Common theme throughout = Ashley loves low top white sneakers!!
There is nothing wrong with looking older by wearing certain types of sweaters (assuming they even do make you look older in the first place) because women have a fairly low age preference bias when it comes to men. It will also help to make you look more professional to older business colleagues.
Thank you!
So when you say hoodie, you only showed the non zipper/pullover options. What's your take on a zippered hoodie?
She doesn't know zipper hoodie exist 😂
Has anyone managed to get the app yet? I've been on the waiting list for months :(
Hi Luke! Thanks for reaching out. We're getting super close to launching! If you've signed up for the app, then keep an eye on your email inbox!
Just a suggestion, maybe you can start using photos of more diverse body types instead of just skinny. Like dad bods, a little on the heavy side, muscular etc, etc. Or do dedicated videos on them.
lmao @ 2:50 She pulled up the worst example to exhibit a younger guy in a quarter-zip! Still, no merit to this argument. I'll pop a quarter-zip over a white tee, pair it with dark joggers and clean white sneakers, and it ends up looking awesome. Maybe I'll add a quilted vest if it's a little chillier or I need the extra pockets.
She is just mad because she's in her 40s and guys in quarter zips are passing her up for 20 somethings.
Tate looks amazing in 1/4 zip.
@@billybanter9573 Thanks for the contribution.
2:47 SHOTS FIRED!!! CALL 911!!!
Seriously the best fashion advice on TH-cam!!! Thank you Ashley 🙏❤️
Yes great video. I always wonder why the endings are so abrupt. Rest of the video always has good production value.
Thanks lady.
love it. I think you are the first one that says no shirt under crewneck sweater
This was quite good and helpful
How can you shrink a sweater that is a little too big?
Excellent content
A sweatshirt is like a hoodie with no hood
🤯
Are tight, cropped chinos still in style?
Ok great advice if you don’t live in Chicago IL. Do you not know it is freezing here . We can not dress like that here because it’s freezing!!!!!!🥶
Lost me when she said James Bond style was bad for men!
I like polos with pleated trousers😌☝🏽
commenting for the algo. amazing vid!!!
surprisingly quarter zips and half zips are trending right now. even in the NBA, coaches swapped the suit for quarter zips
🐢 is 👑
In Italy, older guys (40+) wear the long sleeve polo necks over a shirt. It looks very polished and put together.
For cardigans, watch Daniel Craig as James Bond, pure style class.
Essentially if your a 39 year old slightly fat guy like me you can’t wear anything without layering something over it. So either get to the gym or get used to feeling hot and smothered all the time. No less than three to four layers so the world is not subjected to my fat ass lol
I've been wearing quarter zip sweaters since HS. As it was stated earlier, take her advice with a grain of salt.
The stuff she talks about looks like it's straight out of J Crew, Eddie Bauer, or prep school catalog. Her fashion advice is for a specific type. She discusses nothing that has flare and snap.
She sticks to like 3 colors, why no color? Why are guys so afraid of color? Also, says as a big guy to leave the shawl collar cardigan un-buttoned, even though moments earlier she said leaving it unbuttoned causes it to lose its shape and looks frumpy.
So werid ive been watching videos on knitting machines and want to grab one to make sweaters and beanies for myself family and charity. I think God and Ashley are trying to tell me something. 😂 I wear a shawl button cardigan like a jacket from target all the time its the most complemted clothing i have.
I like Ashley and her videos are interesting. But for me, this one’s WAY too prescriptive, especially the ‘rules’ about how a crew neck ‘should’ fit.
Should be taken with a grain of salt. If you want to dress better, go to Derek Guy for more sound style advise
Uh yes we know what a hoodie is.
fat, bald, short or too pale skin guys get always a warning 😆😁
I didn't know clothes can age people 😂😂😂😂
Please take her advice with a grain of salt. She obviously has a very specific audience and clientele with the same look and deviations from that look, she considers to be “wrong” or a fashion faux pas. She sticks to the same looks year to year instead of introducing new looks for people to try 😐
That’s basically because people have gotten smart and realized that timeless pieces are better than following stupid trends. Sticking to the basics is a bit better and has a lot stress involved. This way you also don’t have to spend a ton of money. For me, I invest a lot of money into my clothes so that I don’t have to buy any year after year. You get timeless pieces that look great on YOU and that you enjoy, ones that are also made of very good quality, and now you have a wardrobe that you really don’t need to worry about. You also don’t have a ton of extra clothes that you don’t wear. You actually save money this way. And look better imo. I do agree though, I think things she says that are wrong aren’t necessarily wrong. It’s all up to you honestly. Wear what you want. People take way too much advice from people on the internet.
@@gandalf3453tbf the majority of the outfits she showcases were trendy at some point in the last decade. Dont think there such a thing as 100% timeless basics. Even a sartorial wardrobe is gonna be influenced by its time
@@chocobarre3178 but a tshirt? Crew neck sweaters? Denim? Boots? I feel like all of those are completely timeless.
It’s basically how to look business casual. A lot of guys have no clue and rely on their gf buying them stuff
Yeah her clients are celebrities
The only thing sexier than sweaters is pajamas.
BS
I shouldn't have stayed through the cardigans. I hate cardigans and nothing she showed changed my mind. They look terrible 99% of the time and I'm not the guy that can fit that other 1%.
Sorry but the t shirt hanging out under the sweater just looks sloppy. Not a good look for a self-respecting man.
I’m a little too bad ass to dress as vanilla as this chick suggests.
I don’t agree with many of your Tipps sorry
