@@SEA-BASS1| Making a college football championship game isnt proof that you're a great coach. Sonny Dykes is proof of that. 2023 TCU and 2024 UW have alot of similarities between'em. Both flirted with disaster the entire season. I think both had 10 wins of 10 points of left. Both team's luck ran out in the national championship game w/ blowout losses. My point still remains. - Bryan Harsin and Kalen DeBoer both come to the state of Alabama with excellent winning percentages and conference championships. - Neither had any connections whatsoever to the south. - Neither were great recruiters - Both have a very similar low key subdued personality. - Both are around the same age 48 &49. -- Both are from the upper edges of the country (Idaho and South Dakota)
There is enough talent currently and coming into Alabama, that he will have some time to recruit. I think they might take a minor step back next year, but it won't be big.
This is really stupid. But I can't be mad at Coach DeBoer for taking the job. It hurts a lot right now obviously as I'm a Husky for life and my university has endured a lot of chaos pretty much all through the 2000s. I'm thankful for the 2 years we had with DeBoer. I am tired of Washington being viewed as a stepping stone coaching position. And this new AD needs to do something to fix that. Washington deserves to be a coveted job in college football that won't be such an easy place to pry a great coach from. Well Alabama isn't going to lose a step, and in fact will now be better probably because Nick Saban was tired. DeBoer is far from tired. I'm really just interested in what Washington is going to do to fill the giant hole that is left by the loss of all of our great players and now our phenomenal coaches. I'm sure the whole staff is going with him? Or will coach Grubb stay and Coach Shephard stay and keep this thing somewhat together? We need answers in Washington.
Couldn’t have put it any better. UW’s AD needs to figure it out. A lot needs to change. NIL, recruiting, etc. If Oregon can find a way to make Eugene attractive, Seattle can be made a great job.
He is a good coach. But he can’t make adjustments. He should have put his back up running back in the game against Michigan. Showing loyalty to a guy dragging his leg around crippled the offense for 4 quarters. Made the game one dimensional.
U dub isn't bama and does not have the depth. Dillon Johnson on 1 and a half legs was a better option than the next guy. That ultimately sums up the reason for him leaving Seattle. 2 and 3 star recruits vs. 4 and 5's. That disparity cost him his 15th win this year. Deboer hopes to have just eliminated that disparity...if he can maintain a top 5 recruiting machine, which is really the only question about him, but it is a big question, and a large portion of the puzzle.
Those days are over baby. Alot has changed with southern teams. Just 15 years ago the SEC was known for defense and not having good QBs. There's still some defense but it's not really the same push and culture is different post Saban. Coaches and players get poached and NIL/Portal keeps players moving. Hard to build a program culture when the players/coaches who adopt it run off somewhere else. All the players that leave are not there for an example of "the process" to the new guys anymore. We saw it at Bama these last few years with very uncharacteristic issues around the program despite thier relative success. Michigan just got caught in the biggest scandal in recent memory and went on to get the National Championship trophy. The only culture that matters anymore is winning no matter what and it has to be rebuilt year to year.
They should have went after DeMeco Ryan Houston texans coach. Former player, nfl career and he has turned Houston back into a contender. I wonder why not go after him 🤔. I would guess experience
your a fool if you think ryans was leaving an hc position in the NFL. that comment is the exact reason why people like you arent involved in coaching searches. it seems like everyone forgets saban signed off on this guy
I'm a Dawg fan but Lane at Bama would have been scary. He's winning 10 games at Ole Miss and killing it with the portal. This seems like a good hire though, we'll find out.
@@MyNameIsJeff872 even the appearance of a coach and young staff members can destroy a program and there's a lot of stories of him being extremely too friendly

He beat inferior competition this season and just barely in most cases. Guarantee nobody is happy with him by the end of next season. You are right, because Sabin never made it in the NFL and Jim Harbaugh lead the 49ers in the Super Bowl. Nick Saban is a good college coach, and Jim Harbaugh is a great football coach at all levels.

@barneyaamps- that comment isn't true. We went after one other person, we called Kirby but knew it was a no go, after Sark it was Deboer, we never went to Lane, I wouldn't have minded it though. I'm happy with Deboer, he's a perfect fit. I would have like Demeco Ryans to have gotten a stronger look too
U really had to throw Deion name in there, he was as much of a candidate as I was
Well Sark won’t leave now. But you never know. But I agree.
Its a good hire but its very hard to be any coach following up Nick Saban. Its def a completely diff coaching switch from saban being a offensive guy.
DeBoer is an offensive guy. His defense in Washington was ranked 93rd. So he's definitely not a defensive guy. He's a bad hire. Unproven at this level. Especially in Bama. Only did well against teams with a passing defense outside of the top 50 😂 See what happened when they faced the #1 defense of Michigan

Can he recruit in the SEC?
Of course… Geez, you guys act like Saban was not a northerner before he started at LSU. He didn’t have a problem recruiting.
Dude, Sanders was never even a whimsical thought...this is a serious program
Ok the Washington head coach really here we go back to the hard times no defense no good running game we are going to loose to our rivals for the next hundred years
With the bama machine already in place, he definitely wont crash it.
Saban is the machine. Other coaches trying replicate it showed that it’s nearly impossible to do unless you’re Saban or Kirby
@@jdtheguitartist saban built the machine so big that the machine is bigger than him. Bama still has the brand, resources, facility & most important, the roster all in place
Deboer won't be saban #2, but you dont have to be kirby or saban to be a good enough coach to not crash a machine thats already in motion. If he can just maintain it, that's A big W.

My biggest concern is his lack of experience, particularly with running a major program. I think the journey is important. If Saban hangs around that could help.
Lack of experience? I don’t think so. As long as he surrounds himself with great people, he will do fine

Awesome
Bama didnt learn from Auburn's pick of Bryan Harsin.

- Neither were great recruiters
- Both have a very similar low key subdued personality.
- Both are around the same age 48 &49.

Yes. He's staying to help guaranteed he's set up with success
Get Pete Carroll in at Montlake - anything less feels like abject failure.
There is enough talent currently and coming into Alabama, that he will have some time to recruit. I think they might take a minor step back next year, but it won't be big.
Too early to know since the players have a month to decide
Lane Kiffin would have been better...he knows Alabama and what it takes to be in the SEC..
Washington , isn't that where Willy Tagart came from .
Does Washington offer the same bread as the schools they leave for?
YOU are one more delusional person!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’m an Alabama fan and I absolutely do not approve of this hire.
Thats the reason Murray is smiling from ear to ear. He knows Kirby and Freeze are going to dominate this fool.
is Aaron at a frat house?
Worked last time the hired a coach from the state of Washington. Roght?
I know this ain't happening, but go with me. DeBoer brings Will Rogers with him, and he finally puts all of Aaron's SEC passing records to rest.😂
Big shoes to fill. Tough act to folllow
I take it the first three candidates said no?
Given who was willing, its the right hire.
This opinion is worth what you paid for it😂
No southern roots, doesn't have the southern contacts or understands the culture. You would think Bama would have learned from Auburn's blunder.
LSU stay hiring guys with no southern ties and they still win chips.
Nick Saban entire coaching tree getting new contracts not to leave. LOL
They should have went after DeMeco Ryan Houston texans coach. Former player, nfl career and he has turned Houston back into a contender. I wonder why not go after him 🤔. I would guess experience
