Thank you. This was very clear. I hope people will hear what you're saying. I can see why you would get frustrated with we, the uninformed and over zealous!! As a new cherry picking roll hunting copper fevered gal, I DO try to learn, really pay attention to how this stuff works. As of yet I haven't gone to a coin shop asking questions that I probably can figure out with a little research. I really do appreciate you folks that have been in this business for long enough to know what's real and what's a lightning strikes chance at finding that great dream penny.. ......(but it COULD happen). Lol. Thanks again. You're appreciated.

The split date is October 2, 1982 when they changed over from full copper planchets to the "zincsters" as I call them! There were exactly 90 mintage days for the 82 zincsters which means of all the zinc pennies, THESE ARE THE RAREST!!!! In comparison to all the years since that they have been punching out zincsters, the 82 zinc penny has the lowest mintage number next to 2008 when they were ending the Memorial back design. and minted the second lowest mintage for zince pennies with the Memorial reverse design. It's only my opinion but I do believe that eventually this low mintage number will play a part in future collector values for these particular 82's as more and more of them are damaged, lost and disappear from circulation. Just a speculative thought!!!

Good for you! I’m so glad theres people reminding the public only maybe TWO of the rare coins are graded and known. It could be the same coin resubmitted for regrading! I think theres other coin channels on TH-cam that hype the video titles for clicks or membership, but are talking about “rare” coins without emphasizing the word RARE. Honesty is important, its why Daniel is such a great resource.

There's a reason why there's so much being offered for a coin because of its rarities. I hope u continue to keep it real with honest feedback and preparation

For the facebook groups related to the hobby we are flooded daily with confused folks asking about the 1982 Pennies. I always tell them that what they are looking for has to meet 4 criteria 1) 1982 2) D-Mint 3) Small Date 4) Copper Coin (approximately 3.1 grams). If it doesn't meet all 4 of those criteria they don't have what they are looking for. I also tell them the odds of finding one. Too many folks waste an inordinate amount of time chasing these only to end up with nothing in return (2 confirmed out of over 6 billion 1982 D-Mints). Nothing wrong with casually checking while you are looking for other things, but definitely wouldn't chase these.

Interesting. This is my first time checking out one of your videos. It was upfront and honest. I recently bought a small coin scale from an eBay seller because I inherited my Mother's modest coin collection. I came across a 1982 large date (apparently) and it weighs 3.1 grams. I checked it against two other 1982 small date pennies that each weigh 2.5 grams. Since I still have my microscope from my high school days, I'll check it out closer than I could with my magnifying glass. among these coins are 6 Morgan dollars from 1879 to 1892 and a 1922 Peace dollar. some walking Lady Liberty half dollars from the 1940's and various silver dimes and quarters from similar years. Also a lot of pennies from the teens, 20's, 30's 40's (no copper 1943, just a steel one), 50's etc. I intend on getting a red book as suggested. So far it's been fun to go through them all, separating by date, etc. I've also posted some videos and some of the coins if anyone has interest to look and comment. Thank you for posting. Best to all.

Also, zinc is a harder metal and they were having problems getting the original dies to strike good clean numbers, even after turning up the die pressures, so they had to retool the dies and make the numbers a little bigger so the serifs and detail features would impress clearly. Not trying to sound like a know-it-all, just trying to help with some details!!!

I’m sorry but I have laughed about every 3 seconds watching this because I can sense your frustration with this topic .
I guess the difference between true collectors and collectors is those who see $$$ and the ones who wouldn’t sell their 3$ nickel for 300$ because of sentimental reasons . I’ve never sold but I like your videos .
