  • This video is a 3 year update to the Teknor Apex Zero G 50' Garden Hose, Model 4001-50. I've had lots of people ask me on my 2016 video review about how well I like the hose after using it for several seasons. In this video, I explain the advantages of this style hose and how I like it now. I actually thought it was seeping water from the end, but it ended up being the problem of my garden spigot on the house. Several other hoses I've owned started leaking on the ends and eventually needed to be thrown away. This hose is the best one out there in my opinion and I'd buy it again if something happened to this one.

      flexzilla hybrid polymer. lightest hose i've used and has good pressure but has a bit of twisting resistance when using with a wand at certain angles. metal hoses would be the perfect hose if they actually had decent pressure. im still searching for a 3/4" hose that's not super stiff. i just ordered this hose in the meantime and judging by the video, it seems to have all the characteristics of a hose that im looking for. Thanks for the review and update!

      My zero-G hose has worked well over the years, but recently the end flew off of it (I guess from the force of the water). I tried putting on a new male end (an Orbit hose mender), but it isn't working right (it's leaking a lot). You mentioned in this video that this hose cannot be repaired. Is this true? Is this due to the type of material that the hose is made out of? Maybe those hose menders are only for rubber and vinyl hoses? Any information that you can give me would be awesome. Thank you!!

      Yes, punctures easily. No good. Qvc has a metal flex tubing that has been amazing so far. I am done with HD and Lowes products. They companies change color of the hoses every week or two so the item number changes and even uf you have a receiot the item numbwr isn't there. Great scam if your destiny is hell.

    I had the same Zero G hose, 5 year warranty. Sprung a leak 2 weeks before the warranty expired so it lasted 4 yrs. 11 months and worked great and the Teknor company paid me the money I initially paid for it. So not a bad deal. I wouldn't buy thinking they'll last forever anyway.

      A few hours ago, I ordered the 50' Zero-G hose from Northern Tool & Equipment online for pickup at the local store. I signed up to get their e-mails and got $5 off the price of the hose which made it $5 cheaper than any place I found. I ended up paying $31.98 and picked it up in less than an hour. Lowes carries this brand, but all sizes were SOLD OUT at the nearest 10 Lowes locations. I even tried Ebay, but couldn't get delivery for 1-2 weeks. Good luck finding this great product. I have one that's just over 3 years old and still works great. My cheap expandable blew a hole and I'm tired of replacing them. You'll pay a little more for the Zero-G product, but will save in the end. Commercial over....where's my money.

    I have a 100ft one (believe it's the same got it at Costco looks identical). On my second summer with it use it a few times a week for sprinklers. It's great, but it does kink a bit and my only gripe is you have to unroll the whole thing to use it. Nice and light though and been shocked it hasn't broke. No leaks either. I'm happy with it for that application.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for the response! I have mine stored on a hose holder on the side of the deck. I can take a few off to just use some of it. I do notice that it may kink slightly, but not shut off the water entirely, like the Goodyear hybrid hose does.

    I have 2-50' Zero G water hoses for several years or more now and I like them (no leakage at all). They are light and easy to carry around. I can quickly wrap them up for storage or throw them in the pickup and keep it moving. The only problem I have with them is they don't provide enough volume to feed my 4 gpm pressure washer (was getting cavitation) when compared to my other similar sized water hose. These hose make using a hose end sprayer around the yard a lot less challenging because of the light weight and flexibility. I guess I would need to step up to the 3/4" version to satisfy my PW. These are great hoses other than the issue with the PW.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree with all that you said. The Zero G puts out more water than most hybrid pocket hoses. I'd like to see more GPM as well for my pressure washer as well.

  • @ArrowItArchery
    @ArrowItArchery 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    I've got three of them, longer than 3 years now. No leaks or busts. I love how easy they are to wind or unwind to use. Kink free and handles like a rope when not under pressure. The only problem is, if you leave it connected too long to your spigot, the threads will literally weld together because of being two different metals. Once I finally got it unscrewed from my house, I installed a "quick connect" fitting to it. I like the quick connects anyways and have them on every connection around my house. I give the hose 5 stars because all three have held up over all this time. This is NOT the infomercial hose that shrinks when pressure is removed. It doesn't shrink, but simply goes flat and becomes easy to handle, pretty much like a rope like I mentioned earlier.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting, I haven't had mine on long enough to weld together. This spring, I'll likely buy another Zero G to replace a leaking off brand hose.

    If the ends were made of brass instead of aluminum there would not be any problems with corrosion when it is attached to a hose bib or any other device. Aluminum threads also tend to gall (compared to brass).

    I had this hose for a year and it leaked badly about a foot from where it attached to the faucet. The company sent me a new one, and that is still working a few years later. However, I found it kinked very badly until I learned the over/under method of coiling which prevents it from twisting when its unrolled. That was like a miracle. Then I bought the Flexzilla hose, which I actually like much better than the Zero G.

      If it was leaking in the proximity of the fitting, did you try a different gasket? Some hose threads will bottom out on the spigots before the gasket even begins to seat. Not all of those gaskets are the same thickness. Inexpensive little trial if you still have it. 😁

At first I figured it was the nozzle coupling...better, more washers, etc. Nothing worked. Then the aha! moment. I could see the water escaping at the joint of the hose and its own hardware. I wish I would have seen this video. I bought that Silver Bullet pocket hose piece of crap. My Silver Bullet last a little longer than your Silver Bullet. Mine beat yours by one day. That's right a week and a day. It formed a littIle blister and started leaking. I did buy the Zero G and it is warranteed for 5 years, but be sure to keep your receipt and the stated warranty along with the bar code. The Zero G has metal connections on both ends and rated at 600 plus psi, and the Silver bullet has metal on one end and plastic on the other. It's about 10 dollars more at Lowe's, but worth it. I don't like the idea that both ends aren't easily, if at all repairable. I see there is a video saying there is a repair that can be made to any of these hoses. The Silver Bullet says to let the water out and and store inside after use. I see on the tag on your hose, it says to store indoors. Now who is going to do that? I don''t see any sense in a collapsing hose, because you damn sure can't put it in your pocket afterwards. The Zero G does not shrink down if you turn off the water. There is no warranty time specified on the Silver Bullet. In case you think I just got a bad one, guess again. The Silver Bullet evidently has a high store return rate. Of course an exaggeration, the lady at returns said everbody is returning them.

    Who doesn’t want a lighter hose to haul around the yard? PROBLEM but not a game changer is 1. It doesn’t hold enough pressure to clean your gutters when you pull it up onto the roof. 2. The threads on the hose end are aluminum and easily cross thread when applying a hose end sprayer. Take care to only HAND TIGHTEN an accessory on those threads. They aren’t strong like metal and next thing you know your hose end sprayer has seized itself onto the end. Better love that hose end sprayer for that hose cause you ain’t getting it off!!

    Worst holes I've ever owned. I gave mine away after about 60 days. This hose kinks like crazy.

      I have decent water pressure at my house and that helps it from kinking. The place I work has 60psi and other hoses that kink never kink there. You're water pressure may be the reason.

    Do not agree I know many people who are dissatisfied with their zero G as am I. The joint to the connector leak, many of them so I call BS on this one.

      I think the comments on this video are pretty positive. I've had good luck with mine so far. I've owned others that haven't lasted 2 weeks, lol.

    My favorite hose is definitely this one! amzn.to/39kDhKp it's metal and doesn't ever get kinks, never breaks, really durable. Pretty cheap too imo.

      This hose doesn't kink either. Zero G is the best in my opinion.

      @@MarkThomasBuilder thanks for the feedback! I only mention the one I linked because a lot of these style hoses tend to leak or tear, but I haven't tested this one. Good to know. I had one similar to this which busted but it was cheap lol.

    Do not trust this guy, he must be get paid from Zero -G hose company. I bought my 100ft Zero-G hose about less than 2 years and leak near the male connection. Also, it does kink if not rolled up without any twisting.

      I can honestly say that I bought this hose with my own money. This is not a sponsored video. I even went on to buy their 75' pro hose last summer and their 25' patio hose. This is my favorite brand and I'm sorry to hear you haven't had a great experience with them.

      There's an interesting mix of reviews on this garden hose. Most people seem to like it, but there's definitely a few bad experiences too.
