I grew up listening to radio Dublin, Dusty's trail,, Mark Manning on the weekends, and pia Kinsella. I made great friends through that station when I used to write in for pen pals.
I actually joined the station myslef after I did my diploma in radio broadcasting in Newman college in Merrion sq, and presented a love music show 2 nights a week which was very popular in 1996 and had 2 amazing years. Any ex jocks out there, or even listeners to my show who used to ring me, drop me a line. Mark

Dusty's trail was a great show,, I think he got hundreds of letters every week.
The Duran Duran fans were called "Duranies",, some people had nicknames like, John taylors toothbrush and all that.

Radio Dublin managed to attract every Spacer in Dublin who wanted to be a celebrity. Some of these geezers actually thought they were stars. I know because I was one of them. I wonder whatever happened to John Everest, Shay West, Paul Vincent, Pat James (Hey man). Pat Gill is now deceased. Barry deans(Lang) is now a pilot with Etihad.

I remember Dusty's Trail! I think I even remember "Madonna's See Through Nightie". I well remember the meetups in Stephen's Green. Who was it that the Durannie's were always competing with? The Spandau Ballet fans? The Cureheads?

I won this track as a 7 inch single on some show. The DJ came out to deliver it. I spray painted it red and fcuked it up on the roof of our house. It’s that good.

My father in law had a show on that station. He died last year. Leo Malone was his name.

The rusted Radio Dublin Jag at the end says it all. Titles naming the stars would be nice. Well done. JD
