as a French person, what you made is the basis for hot chocolate, except I think you're supposed to mix the chocolate cream with milk to thin it out and make it drinkable

    • @shannon4180
      @shannon4180 หลายเดือนก่อน +34

Agreed. You would add warm milk or cream until it's perfectly drinkable. And if you like it sweeter you can add powdered sugar to the whipped cream.

I also think that she may have heated the milk up to much which will make the texture way thicker then it should be.

@@RachhLovesLife If you guys want the hot chocolate luxurious feeling, but not something unhealthy nor overwhelming, you can try it the Portuguese way! We use milk, chocolate, brown sugar, a touch of vanilla, and cornstarch - cooking it on the stove mixing nonstop with a wooden spoon (metal on metal wears it out)
Can take a few tries in amount of cornstarch and chocolate, to figure out which consistency you prefer (thick, Velvety, but still a drink! So, not making it so thick that it isn't anymore)
One can add some cinnamon and a pinch of nutmeg when wanting to jazz it up, it is served in a big mug, meant to nicely warm you up in winter windy days!! Feels like a foxy warm hug from the inside
The type of chocolate has to do with personal preference as well! 😌

We also prepare that type of hot chocolate in Spain. We use it to dip churros not really to drink from the mug, I guess it's a different concept from the hot chocolate other countries enjoy. When we finish eating the dipped churros, we use a spoon to eat the leftover hot chocolate :)

I have used the pretzel wreath as a snack table centerpiece before, huge hit! I did the same method but made the circumference much larger, added more layers, used mini M&Ms for the ornaments, and larger candy canes. It was easy to snap off pieces for your snack plate. It was displayed on a large round charcuterie board

I take little pretzels, melted almond bark, and a canister of peanuts and mix them all together in a bowl. Then dump out on parchment while it's still warm and spread them out. You can sprinkle with red and green sugar sprinkles or tiny m&ms (or both, don't let me hold you back). Let them set up and then break them apart into little clusters. I think it's called Pine Bark. Every Christmas I make this and people eat that stuff up. So cheap and simple, but so addicting lol

I lived close to Lexington when I was in college and I loved seeing the ice storms (dangerous, I know) but it was so pretty seeing everything with a thick layer of ice on it! I live up north and had never seen that before! Just regular snow and icicles. I mean, I've seen plenty of icicles reach from the roof of a two story building down to the ground, but really, I've never seen anything like a Kentucky ice storm!!! Beautiful!!!

@ - You are right, I requested churros - not porros - without the sugar. I lightly salt them, as we did when I was a child living in Torremolinos in 1965. The salt enhances the sweetness of the thick chocolate. Sundays at San Ginés in Madrid.

I make chocolate candies every holiday, a little tip is to put a cookie sheet underneath your parchment paper before you start making the wreath you then can pop it in the fridge for 3 to 5 minutes and it’ll be harden quickly but also you can move it places.
I also make homemade hot cocoa every year and my recipe includes powdered milk, powdered creamer and cocoa powder, people have suggested the Trader Joe’s one and I do like that much better. I also buy the freeze dried tiny marshmallows to add in it. I make a humongous bowl of it and then share it with everyone. You could add mini chocolate chips in it or mini cinnamon chocolate chips so on. I personally like the mini because the regular size chips just do not seem to melt as easily. When I do go to make a batch you can use hot water but I still prefer milk it makes it much richer.

I’ve been making the French style hot chocolate for a few years now, I use 3/4c of whole milk, 1/4 cup whipping cream, it makes it a little less thick but still rich. And 4oz of at least 70% dark chocolate and a teaspoon of powdered sugar. Then plenty of whipped cream. It’s delish. Oh also a generous sprinkle of nutmeg lol

My girlfriend loves making cinnamon buns, but over the last couple of years she's been making them as knots instead. Like you make the dough, spread out the butter and seasoning, fold it, cut it like you did the pizza and knot them. You can probably do make those into bows instead of knots.
To make them even more christmassy you can also add some nutmeg, allspice, cloves and ginger.
We also always make Aniseseed buns which are great (do not confuse this with staranise, very different spice)

We make a cinnamon roll wreath every year. We use 2 cans of the Trader Joe's cinnamon rolls (in the cans), make one roll into a bow shape, then make the others into a circle. Bake, then use the glaze to attach the bow, and pour the rest of the glaze on the wreath. Add Christmas sprinkles etc. It looks even more festive on a cute Christmas serving dish!
I love the pizza roll trees, but what about using crescent rolls (pressed into a rectangle), making the strips much smaller? Use cheese and pepperoni as the filling, and serve with marina sauce! YUM! (OK, now I'm hungry!)

I used to bake a lot so I have so many amazing recipes to choose from, but every year my mom and I always make Nestle toll house chocolate chip cookies (using the recipe on the back of the bag) and add Christmas M&Ms. We also use a banana bread recipe from an old cookbook from the 80s or 90s. We make both of them in huge batches (the banana bread we made yesterday took 7 cups bananas, 12 cups of flour, etc). So nothing really special with the recipes, but it's still a tradition to make them 😊 We usually have the Rankin Bass Christmas movies playing on the TV while we make the cookies

I am definitely going to make all of those..maybe not the hot chocolate but I am going to make so many little wreaths for the neighbors and people that stop by! By the way, I think I’ve watched every one of your videos and I LOVE them. Love your reviews and it really is just like you are talking to me, very personal feeling. Thanks and love your attitude!! Merry Christmas 🎄 !!

I will totally be making those Christmas trees but with pizza filling and marinara on the side for our Christmas app party. 😍

For the pizza dough, you could try brie and dried cranberries or currants or jam and stick some rosemary on them with honey, add flaky salt or decorating sugar for a little sparkle

Those ham and cheese Christmas trees looked delish! I lean more towards savory snacks, but the pretzel wreath was super cute! We don't get snow where I live, but there is snow about 100 or so miles from me! We just get the coldest rain all winter! LOL

We have been making a pear and blueberry crumble for Christmas the last several years and it is amazing whether you use a crumble mix or make your own from scratch, both are good

I don't remember a Christmas when my Grandma didn't make rice crispy covered marshmallows. Take a regular marshmallow (or larger if you want THAT much of a sugar rush), dip it half way or all the way in melted caramel then roll the caramel coated part in rice crispy cereal.

Here it already has been snowing a little bit, but as always it melts away. It became pretty rare for us to have white winters in most parts of Germany.

Add some marshmallows to the pretzels. The marshmallows can be used for your drink. Heavy cream with some Dutch honey for the chocolate with the marshmallow melting will look amazing at adding them by layers then sprinkling the mallows, plop that candy cane bow and voila! Hot salted butter chocolate optional topping crushed pretzel pieces, candy canes !

Where I live in Quebec I didn’t get any snow yet, but I agree with you I complain a lot about snow, but I love to watch it fall from inside, when I know I don’t need to get out that day !

Love these! The wreath, you need to alternate on the second layer of pretzels, overlapping between two for stability 😁

For the wreath, halved glacé cherries to decorate it would be perfect for baubles or holly berries!

Got our first dump of snow last night. Mother Nature decided it was finally time to look like winter and gave us 6 in.
