Note: While I do say "We" a lot during this review, I (Ashton) have still only played it solo! Just so used to saying "we" during these reviews. -Ashton
A quick aside for any Hadrian's Wall fans who aren't aware, the designer also created a campaign pdf document after the original printing. Available on BGG: boardgamegeek.com/filepage/224266/hadrians-wall-official-solo-campaign
This is a great logic puzzle, it looks crazy but think of it as a gamer crossword puzzle. Once you learn the framework it’s so satisfying and makes a lot of sense.
Fun fact: woke up after falling asleep while watching TH-cam to a documentary about the Roman invasion/occupation/integration of England…And, lo and behold, suddenly learned about the actual Hadrian’s Wall!
I grabbed it for $20 used after playing 2-player with a buddy. I had a great time playing with someone else as we talked about what we were attempting to complete (I tried to max scout, while he was all in for temples). So yeah, I have tried the solo campaign a few times (can't seem to beat the first 2 levels).
Agreed. My friend showed me this game back when it came out, and we played two player… immediate impression upon completing our game was that it is essentially a solo game and likely plays best solo! That being said… I have been thinking about picking up a copy ever since. It’s an entertaining puzzle, and without having to worry about other people waiting for you figuring out all the combos each round.
You're absolutely right about this being a solo-only game. I can't imagine trying to teach this to others while they only have their own boards to look at. Have you had a chance to try the official solo campaign?
haven't tried the official solo campaign, since I just wanted to cover what was in the box. Awesome that its free for people who want more content though! -Ashton
I don't solo game but I keep looked at this one but that price makes me change mind everytime... Has anybody ever just laminated a couple pages and used wet erase markers?
I've seen people putting glass on top of it, but yeah the price is really quite steep if that's a concern for you. The replay value in terms of pages included is fine, likely nothing to worry about there -Ashton
i came to comments section to see if anyone else noticed that :) f me that sound is annoying, will all the kickstarters hes backing i guess no $ left for a decent pen

Had to fill out my tax return, ticked so many boxes. Feeling pretty damn Roman right now.
Nice to see a roll and write style game without excessive randomness. Nice review guys!

for sure! Definitely really odd how they include components for up to 6 players ahaha. -Ashton
And now I want to play this game.
Appreciate the Rome Total War music
one of the best games ever! -ashton

Echo the comments that the solo campaign adds an additional layer of variety.
Definitely better as a solo experience than multiplayer.
Lol no way I just bought Hadrians Wall and played my first game of it today!
Just looking at the size of those sheets... man, I still don't know if I want to get the game.
It looks intimidating at first, but once you've played a round or two it's actually quite easy to read the board.
The text and symbols are small for sure, but if you're playing single player that's 99% all you'll be looking at -Ashton
5:55 😂😂
Love the b footage at the end.
ahaha thought it would resonate with solo players! -Ashton
I wonder how this competes with other Roll/Flip n Writes.
It's one of the best on the market right now.
SALUDOS DESDE ECUADOR!!!!. Love your videos.
cheers man!! More stuff coming -Ashton
i was wondering, will you review frosthaven ? thanks
yep, we will review it! Just waiting with bated breath atm for it to come in -Ashton

Great video! I dislike roll n write though.
Even people who dislike roll and writes have enjoyed this one. It feels more like a medium weight euro than it does a standard roll and write.
Your pen ink is a pain in the arse for those ADHD to watch! By the way. Have you tried campaign mode for solo? It’s challenging.
Dude, you need a better pen!
