    Smallest? pffffft! Here's the one I've been using for a few years: iPhone 8 (BIAS FX 2), iRig 2. Done! haha! Best for poor people like me!

    This is actually what I do when I record; I run through a preamp pedal and a cab sim pedal rather than an in-the-box IR. I mainly use it to monitor and get zero latency, but sometimes I blend it in with the amp sim and it sounds alright

    I think for a fly in gig you can make use of a Mooer Looper X2 pedal which has stereo outputs. and keep it strictly a pedalboard rig and connect the IEM to a Mooer Cab X2 or some IR pedal like that.

    Would it not be better to apply pitch changes to the clean DI rather than trying to apply it after the complex distortion? 🤔

    • @friedrudibega6384
      @friedrudibega6384 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      Yes, absolutely.
      Plus it would use less cpu.

    • @thisguy2973
      @thisguy2973 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@friedrudibega6384it won’t matter much on the CPU anymore since Logic and its built-in plugins are apple silicon-native. You can load literally 1000 tracks on the cheapest apple silicon offering with only 8GB of RAM. As a former Apple employee, I’d say you’d do just fine.

    • @michaelh.7363
      @michaelh.7363 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      but there is no clean DI, because he goes git->chug->interface ->DAW ->interface-> PA

    • @TinoSchulz1990
      @TinoSchulz1990 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In that case an audio-interface with external loop (or additional outputs / inputs) would be great.
      You can then run your guitar straight into the Interface and use Out 3 and Input 2 as an "insert" and place it before / after plugins as you wish.

    • @irishRocker1
      @irishRocker1 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TinoSchulz1990then he'd have more latency and he was trying to avoid that. He could just use the quad cortex as a sound card for the backing tracks and do everything in that.

    Actually adding the EQ after the preamp and raising the "gain" you are raising the volume for the solo...but no any gain boost in term of saturation

    He, well he knows exactly where to go on that laptop program. So what do you buy a CD to download the program switch onto the computer? I've seen like packs of these downloadable disks you can get, with all the switches for the program to help you find yourr chugging recording studio. It's like you can get the options to navigate through the effects in one program, then you switch to the other one that you click on to be able to connect the recorded chugging. Then you click on the CD downloaded program that lets you monitor the effects delay or something for example, if you plugged your pedal into the guitar and then that plugs into the EQ directly in the computer laptop. So I think multitasking hanging out with the boys later would be cool. I'd just have to get another monitor for those extra downloadable disks or CD programs.

  • @Husabuse

    Question here, Ola. somewhat related to your setup.
    I will soon be owning an Apple laptop for work and I am allowed to use it for private use as well.
    So, I would like to start playing guitar through it. Mainly via headphones.
    What is a good entry-level hardware-software combination to start entering this rabbit hole?

    Don't waste the trip in China. I urge you to take that rare opportunity to see stuff like the Terra Cotta Army, the Leshan Giant, and other things most will only see pictures and vids of. The oldest continuous nation in the world has a massive amount of history and culture that goes well beyond modern politics. Plus buy jewelery for missus Ola. The Chinese prefer pure 24kt gold without any "watering down" to lessen the gold content.
