I found twenty one pilots when I needed them the most and they truly helped me stay alive , their thing is literally “stay alive |-/ “
Been following them since their self titled album and damn i love to see how much they have grown as a musical duo! Seen them every tour and just secured tickets to Clancy! Cannot wait! Lets goooo!! TøP
TøP has had a chokehold on my soul since 2009-10. Their music has gotten me through the toughest times in my life, and they give me (all of us, really) something to journey through for a couple minutes. Then, there’s the Clique. You beautiful, beautiful people. I will be going to the show in Philly, I hope I see so many of you there!!
It’s actually really interesting because I didn’t get into Twenty One Pilots until I began listening to their album Blurryface. That was the first album that introduced me to their music. And now safe to say that I am hooked.
I mean these are all reasons twenty one pilots are the musical love of my life!! But, if you really think lore and complex crazy worldbuilding hasn't been done before, you should see popular kpop groups, such as TXT and Enhypen. It's why I like them so much too, the attention to detail and story and music videos and fan theories and supporting media is insane. But yeah Twenty one pilots is one in a million |-/
Certainly! I think the unique aspect that I was trying to convey isn’t the world building. Artists have been doing similar things for decades. It’s the fact that it is so commercially successful in American markets that are generally saturated by predictable pop-music.
Back when they did Tour de Columbus, I was lucky enough to get tickets to their last show on that leg of the tour and I was just struck by how many different people were there. There were grandparents, “emos”, people who I didn’t associate to be fans and in a variety of ages, too. I know it was a hometown show, and they are very supportive of the band. But when I got to see them on their Trench tour, the same crowd had been there too. TOP is for everyone and that makes me so happy ❤
I love (or hate) that you included “Brat”. I have my own taste in music and have never needed his or the industry’s. I’m old and my home is filled with music from artists!! Some well known. Some niche. Some obscure. We all can follow Tyler’s lead and hear our way around!
I am 60 and this is my band!! Shout out to 88.9 The alternation Streetsboro Ohio. Highschool station got me hooked many years ago... Was at the Bandito tour with my grandsons and just went to Clancy!!! Perfection!!!!
i can't believe you mentioned the fact that they don't like fitting inside a mole and forgot to quote lane boy, where tyler explicitly says "If it was our way, we'd have a tempo change every other time change / 'Cause our minds change on what we think is good" and "In the industry it seems to me that singles on the radio are currency / My creativity's only free when I'm playing shows" but I finally understand what I found so fascinating about them a few years ago when I was fixating on them... it's their ability to be both mainstream and obscure. At surface level they do make enjoyable music that radios love to play, but it's just the tip of the iceberg (and you can go down soo many levels), and there's such a distance between casual listeners and hardcore fans that I never quite understood until now! creating this massive lore was probably top's way of balacing the massive success brought by stressed out and heathens, and the need to stay close to their OG and hardcore fans and to "recognize" them, like a secret handshake of sorts ps: i would change the title to "twenty one pilots", not just tyler joseph... it's a two-man band, they both deserve credit
This is why I love 21 pilots... I like music that breaks boundaries, speaks truth, and doesn't feed into the music industry. This is also why I love artists like NF, who has gone down a similair route as TOP.
Extremely catchy tracks that have a groove and hook, and will hook you. They are an absolutely incredible band. And Lane Boy says it loud and clear. That they won’t adhere to demands to stay in any one genre. Love these dudes. And definitely psyched for the new release. Indeed lol welcome back to Trench. I’ll get in my instructions Friday.
Fun fact: Brad Taste in Music, the guy you showed reacting to Regional at Best, is now a TOP fan who knows the lore and even went to one of the concerts. He just reviewed Clancy. Kinda funny of an arc.
I believe the “Balancing Act” that Tyler referred to was both trying to keep the song’s lyricism and sincerely alive while also keeping it listenable for the radio. Anathema and Saturday are two examples of each end of the spectrum, with Tyler also saying he regretted making Saturday on Backslide, and also acknowledging the hate about Stressed Out in his concerts.
tyler is indeed a genius. i love the zane lowe interviews where he is actually serious and you can learn a little bit more about his creative process. i saw them at the UBS arena in jersey for the scaled and icy tour and it was the most energetic, fun, and entertaining concert i have ever been to.
im 41. for the longest time my fav rap group has been bone thugs n harmony. another ohio group. theyre the type of group that didnt do mainstream copying either and got taken off radios aside from their classics. fast forward to just before trench came out. my daughter was heavily listening to all TOP tracks and i was getting interested. and damn the whole lore and creating a saga within music albums hasnt been done. or i have not seen it like this. its awesome. love the story telling.
I always thinks that "Bandito" is the true message. It'is bandiTo (with T) et not bandiDo (with D), it means "little band". I could take the high road => Tyler could join the music industry and top charts But I know that I'm going low =>Tyler prefers going underground I'm a ban-I'm a bandito => We are a little band almost unknown (almost "ban" from radio) This is the sound we make => we create our music When inbetween two places Where we used to bleed => in the top charts And where our blood needs to be => live with our fans In city, I feel my spirit is contained => inside mainstream standard, i can express myself Like neon inside the glass, they form my brain => mainstream standard closes/limits your inspiration But I recently discovered It's a heatless fire => neon is heatless fire, success without inspiration Like nicknames they give themselves to uninspire => title decerned by the music industry, if it 's a song by the "king of the ..." then it's a hit Begin with bullet, now add fire to the proof => Tyler resists to critics and now to the fame also But I'm still not sure if fear's a rival or close relative to truth => Tyler hesitates if all this is only a justification Either way it helps to hear these words bounce off of you => sing with us at live show The softest echo could be enough for me to make it through => hear you can help me to continue I created this world => we create the lore To feel some control => in order to manage our career outside of the mainstream music industry Destroy it if I want I'm french so sorry if i'm not clear
I listened to top for about 10 years now and i loved their earlier stuff but havent been as attached to the newer stuff but im happy to see they are the same old duo as they have always been and are still doing their thing.
I had that same generic opinion of TOP. Then Someone told me they tell the truth in their music so I gave them a chance. First thing I listened to was Jumpsuit and I was like HOLY SHIZ. Haven’t stopped listening since. I think Tyler Joseph is one of the most creative and talented songwriters ever.
I appreciate this video so much. Thank you for making this and sharing it. Thank you for appreciating these guys and pushing the recognition they do deserve. One of my favorite lines from Kitchen Sink and ever by them is “empathy might be on the brink of extinction” THATS why people think they’re “weird”. People are afraid to feel anymore.
I’m 51 and this is my current favorite Group/Music maker (Indépendant of group or solo). For me, they were able to set Depeche mode to second position.
Facts! We need more people who can appreciate them for them! They are my favorite band ever and it’s not just because I enjoy their music. It’s because of how creative and ingenious they are and how unique their style is from ordinary music!!
I've heard the band on the radio before and just really kind of liked Stressed Out and Ride (only ones I heard) Now, years later, after my fiance introduced Chlorine to me, I decided to actually look into them more, and realized they are exactly the kind of unique and interesting band that I love. The more I learn about them, the more I appreciate them and love their music, even though rap and their style was NEVER my style! I also discovered Pink Floyd right before them, and I see so many similarities as to how they're doing things, even though the music is totally different. I love bands like this!
@@thecreativecriticals2354 With how unique and strange his lyrics are and his one of a kind performance style, it took guts to perform for people that just went there to shop for phones/computers
Top inspires me so much their music is something i can relate too a lot. It also just feels like home listening to them. They make music to spread creativity love and help people with struggles in life. Not to become the most popular or to make the most money. Their music is full of life and has a soul. Something that taylor swift could work on in my opinion. Their music really means something and gets you thinking and i my book thats exactly what art does
The only bands as weird as Twenty Øne Piløts that I’ve seen blow up in the mainstream but not nearly to the same degree, r SOAD and Primus which is absolutely insane considering how much older those bands r than TØP and they came out in a much more viable era for music experimentation being profitable.
Dude. Ive always watched your vids about football and Messi. And im a huge fan. Never knew you appreaciated TwentY One Pilots as well. All love from The Netherlands.
Brad actually talks pretty positively about Twenty One Pilots for the most part. He loved Trench and for most of the other stuff that he wasn't as positive about it mostly came down to him saying he could understand the ideas but didn't think they were executed all that well. He's always had pretty fair criticism, and he's also admitted that their music is pretty authentic. He did a whole interview thing with some fans to learn about the lore where he was really invested in it and pretty open minded.
@SKEEBOFFICIAL7 nah he knows how to play the game, he gets the top fans riled up by shutting on them, then flips and acts like he's been converted into a fan, then back to hating on it again, he knows how to keep the views goung.
Such a great informative video, definitely great to show to people who dont know the band, and was amazing as someone who knows the band very well too.

Bro this is just a great video. Honestly inspiring. I really love how concise and well written this is. It is incredibly helpful to have this as a reference point to put together elusive thoughts I have from over the years. A piece like this is a grounding and comprehensive reference to have. Thanks a bunch! Really glad I found and watched this, especially with all of the tøp clickbait out there I try to avoid. ||-//
A four album concept is the most ambitious I've ever heard of. Smashing Pumpkins abandoned their Teargarden By Kaleidyscope (spelling errors intentional) project after two EPs and 2 LPs before the release of Shiney and Oh So Bright. That's the only thing to come close.
I don’t understand when people say music is too emotional. Isn’t that the point? Maybe that’s why they’re sitting at their desk writing music articles instead of playing in front 90,000 people at festivals? Yes, Tyler’s music can be dark and depressing but it’s filled with hope and an amazing message. Life is worth living so stick around , please.
Love the video, the only thing I disagree with is that he doesn’t care about money. I think we see that he finds money necessary in order to keep doing what he’s doing, and we see that he’s torn by this decision. For example in Lane boy he says “there’s a few songs on this record that feel common”, and then his latest song backslide he says “ kinda wishin’ that I never did ‘Saturday’” I’ve loved this band since 2014, and they continually put out stuff that is innovative and interesting. I really wish he would be a little bit more explicit about his roots in Christ, and stop tiptoeing around it, but I do think the struggle of faith is something that a lot of us confused kids connect with. Thanks for making the video, glad to know there are other people out there who enjoy their music just as much.
I loved this video. You know, one thing I've noticed, and maybe I'm reaching, who knows. But I've seen other artists doing things that the pilots have done before, and people have been raving about it, but when the pilots did it, no one cared, just us their fans. For example, they brought to us all the cryptic stuff from Demaorg and we had to solve the level of concern scavenger hunt. They also would just put billboards with no context all over the world. I recently saw Taylor swifts QR code in a building and everyone lost their shit. I believe I also saw another artist, if not her, putting billboards with no context as well. And once again, everyone lost their minds but when the pilots did it, only his fans cared. They did the cinema experience and the Roblox concert, and later on, someone else did the same thing and once again, no one cared when the pilots did it first. They brought the phrase on saturday well paint the town. And no one cared. Doja Cat said she paints the town red in one of her songs and everyone in this world knows that phrase, because of her. It's good that they serve as inspiration for others, but it's so unfair that they are so original but so unseen, and someone else always gets the credit for their creativity.
I love twenty one pilots, I've listened to their music since Blurry face, and so far, there have been a minimum amount of songs I dislike, With none being on the trench album.
Watching this straight after listening to Paladin Strait and hearing you say "too emotional" hits 👊🏼
But yeah
Twenty one pilots is one in a million |-/
How can one band write so many songs that literally make me cry 🕊️
Crazy these people helped inspire me to make music around 11 years ago and here they are still inspiring others over a decade later. Truly legendary.
I love (or hate) that you included “Brat”. I have my own taste in music and have never needed his or the industry’s. I’m old and my home is filled with music from artists!! Some well known. Some niche. Some obscure.
We all can follow Tyler’s lead and hear our way around!
I love that last line 😂❤️
Brat is everything that is wrong with everything
@@zachevans2121 not
I am 60 and this is my band!!
At surface level they do make enjoyable music that radios love to play, but it's just the tip of the iceberg (and you can go down soo many levels), and there's such a distance between casual listeners and hardcore fans that I never quite understood until now! creating this massive lore was probably top's way of balacing the massive success brought by stressed out and heathens, and the need to stay close to their OG and hardcore fans and to "recognize" them, like a secret handshake of sorts
ps: i would change the title to "twenty one pilots", not just tyler joseph... it's a two-man band, they both deserve credit
This is why I love 21 pilots... I like music that breaks boundaries, speaks truth, and doesn't feed into the music industry. This is also why I love artists like NF, who has gone down a similair route as TOP.
WELCOME BACK TO TRENCH!
Also, I can't wait to see if they'll create a whole new storyline once the Dema cycle ends.
Not the scrolling on stolen potential-😂😂 Love this!!
All my friends say that its "emo" or depressing but if you relate to it its life
josh is one of my favorite drummers to ever exist!!
Early Brad Taste in Music mentioned 🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣
Wait!!! I was following you in your journey to learn about football and now I found out you're a massive Tøp fan?? Awesome!!❤
no cause this makes me tear up, you literally realize how far they’ve come and how YOU can do anything if you chase it
im 41. for the longest time my fav rap group has been bone thugs n harmony. another ohio group. theyre the type of group that didnt do mainstream copying either and got taken off radios aside from their classics. fast forward to just before trench came out. my daughter was heavily listening to all TOP tracks and i was getting interested. and damn the whole lore and creating a saga within music albums hasnt been done. or i have not seen it like this. its awesome. love the story telling.
Bone Thugs! I love them too 🕊️
Hey, welcome back to you too sir! Good to see you back, this was a great video.
top's music saved my life and I will be in the skeleton clique until the day I die- thanks for your video
I always thinks that "Bandito" is the true message. It'is bandiTo (with T) et not bandiDo (with D), it means "little band".
I could take the high road => Tyler could join the music industry and top charts
But I know that I'm going low =>Tyler prefers going underground
I'm a ban-I'm a bandito => We are a little band almost unknown (almost "ban" from radio)
This is the sound we make => we create our music
When inbetween two places
Where we used to bleed => in the top charts
And where our blood needs to be => live with our fans
In city, I feel my spirit is contained => inside mainstream standard, i can express myself
Like neon inside the glass, they form my brain => mainstream standard closes/limits your inspiration
But I recently discovered It's a heatless fire => neon is heatless fire, success without inspiration
Like nicknames they give themselves to uninspire => title decerned by the music industry, if it 's a song by the "king of the ..." then it's a hit
Begin with bullet, now add fire to the proof => Tyler resists to critics and now to the fame also
But I'm still not sure if fear's a rival or close relative to truth => Tyler hesitates if all this is only a justification
Either way it helps to hear these words bounce off of you => sing with us at live show
The softest echo could be enough for me to make it through => hear you can help me to continue
I created this world => we create the lore
To feel some control => in order to manage our career outside of the mainstream music industry
Destroy it if I want
I'm french so sorry if i'm not clear
I listened to top for about 10 years now and i loved their earlier stuff but havent been as attached to the newer stuff but im happy to see they are the same old duo as they have always been and are still doing their thing.
I had that same generic opinion of TOP. Then Someone told me they tell the truth in their music so I gave them a chance. First thing I listened to was Jumpsuit and I was like HOLY SHIZ. Haven’t stopped listening since. I think Tyler Joseph is one of the most creative and talented songwriters ever.
I was so pleasantly surprised when I finally decided to dig into their music and lore. I am now a huge fan!
2:26 do NOT ever disrespect forest like that EVER again. forest is SACRED.
I love creative people like them
I am a fan of their creativity and they try their fullest
back in the days they blew my mind with an "ode to sleep", love them
OMGGG i love that you added the third earnest!! I hope we get your friends reactions to the new tracks coming out!!
I stand by this, Tyler is one of t greatest song writers of our times. And with Josh. How lucky r we to be alive?!
Facts! We need more people who can appreciate them for them! They are my favorite band ever and it’s not just because I enjoy their music. It’s because of how creative and ingenious they are and how unique their style is from ordinary music!!
I've been to 3 concerts, I started listening to them in 3rd grade. I havent really given them a listen in a but though. I still like the band.
YOU SIR ARE SPEAKING FACTS
They really did say yes to EVERY show, I think there’s a very old video somewhere on the Internet of Tyler performing in an Apple store
Yep! What a great clip. The best performance that the Apple Store has ever seen
@@thecreativecriticals2354 With how unique and strange his lyrics are and his one of a kind performance style, it took guts to perform for people that just went there to shop for phones/computers
I LOVE that video cuz it really showed how tyler gave everything he had to every show, even the very beggining when he was a "nobody" truly inspiring
Top inspires me so much their music is something i can relate too a lot. It also just feels like home listening to them. They make music to spread creativity love and help people with struggles in life. Not to become the most popular or to make the most money. Their music is full of life and has a soul. Something that taylor swift could work on in my opinion. Their music really means something and gets you thinking and i my book thats exactly what art does
Dope video man! Very well said. That Needle Drop guy is so far up his own anoos.
still my favorite band
Tyler declare it pretty simple in the lyrics of Lane Boy. This is pure Art of Music🎉
Great video! Let's keep supporting TOP till the end!!
we are the few, the proud, and the emotional
|-/
The only bands as weird as Twenty Øne Piløts that I’ve seen blow up in the mainstream but not nearly to the same degree, r SOAD and Primus which is absolutely insane considering how much older those bands r than TØP and they came out in a much more viable era for music experimentation being profitable.
I felt that friend thing, all my friends hate TOP and thing I’m crazy for loving them.
Dude. Ive always watched your vids about football and Messi. And im a huge fan. Never knew you appreaciated TwentY One Pilots as well. All love from The Netherlands.
Listening for 8 years now!
We love twenty one pilots and i love these men
I discovered the pilots when I was at a young age when Blurryface came out and have been a fan ever since. Keep climbing boys!
When @bradtaste in music praised Taylor swifts songs and lyrics more that twenty one pilots authenticity, i knew something was off lmaoooo
wait when the hell did he praise Taylor Swift??
Brad actually talks pretty positively about Twenty One Pilots for the most part. He loved Trench and for most of the other stuff that he wasn't as positive about it mostly came down to him saying he could understand the ideas but didn't think they were executed all that well. He's always had pretty fair criticism, and he's also admitted that their music is pretty authentic. He did a whole interview thing with some fans to learn about the lore where he was really invested in it and pretty open minded.
@@Ivyrigs thanks for letting me know!
@SKEEBOFFICIAL7 nah he knows how to play the game, he gets the top fans riled up by shutting on them, then flips and acts like he's been converted into a fan, then back to hating on it again, he knows how to keep the views goung.
He's rety8rded
"It doesn't matter what I say
So long as I sing with inflection"
Blues Traveler
Such a great informative video, definitely great to show to people who dont know the band, and was amazing as someone who knows the band very well too.
Agreed, if you listen to the lyrics they have a deep meaning.
Welcome back to Trench my dudes.
I love twenty one pilots. They saved my life and many others with their music. Their music doesnt glorify depression or suicide. Their music is about fighting it and getting through it. Stay alive❤|-/
Brilliant video - wished it was longer lol!
I’ve watched you introduce your friends to tøp through your reactions and it’s been a fun ride!
I agree with you, thank you for the video ( from Italy)
Whoever wrote that article about trench falling flat has never heard a song before in their life
Bro this is just a great video. ||-//
Favorite band ever
A four album concept is the most ambitious I've ever heard of. Smashing Pumpkins abandoned their Teargarden By Kaleidyscope (spelling errors intentional) project after two EPs and 2 LPs before the release of Shiney and Oh So Bright. That's the only thing to come close.
If you TRULY love music and lyrics... TOP is hands down the best!
Solid video man. Background music was perfect volume. Content was researched well. Great stuff. Keep it up!
Love the video, the only thing I disagree with is that he doesn’t care about money. I think we see that he finds money necessary in order to keep doing what he’s doing, and we see that he’s torn by this decision. For example in Lane boy he says “there’s a few songs on this record that feel common”, and then his latest song backslide he says “ kinda wishin’ that I never did ‘Saturday’”
I’ve loved this band since 2014, and they continually put out stuff that is innovative and interesting.
I somewhat agree but just a quick asterisk, 'paint the town' is a slang expression much older than TØP and Doja Cat.
dude, what a amazing video! damn i love it so much!
I love twenty one pilots, I've listened to their music since Blurry face, and so far, there have been a minimum amount of songs I dislike, With none being on the trench album. And yet my brother dislikes them without even taking the time to listen to more than 30 seconds of one of their songs. Why are people like this!
