@@chokedonthedust the maths is off. If she wrote it when she was 16 and it 'appeared' on her album 6 years later she would've been 22. She was 22 when RED was released which doesn't make sense. It would have been 4 years later after she was 16 = 20 which is how old she was when Speak Now was released
I love how country this sounds compared to the studio version but I really like the album version lyrics much more...they're more mature and just better quality.
Imagine if she never added Sparks Fly to Speak Now and we would've heard it only on Taylor Swift (Taylor's Version) for the first time ever as a studio version
The context of the scene is clearer than the rewritten version, they were dancing in a bar rather than literally dropping things at the street and dancing in the rain
personally, i prefer the newer studio version. because i feel like the new lyrics flow better. and they're more descriptive and meaningful too. like the second line about him being reckless, is a nice touch. and i don't really get the line about the movie star in this version. versus all the new lyrics she adds about not being able to control herself. but this version's pretty good too. (:
@smexychica4 This is the original version, Taylor only played it at 1 or 2 shows then the public heard it and loved it so she put a studio version on her latest album 'Speak Now' :)
Why did she take away the lyric "You say my name for the first time, baby, and I Fall in love in an empty bar?" That's awesome!! Man I love this version more!
The main things I prefer about the studio version are the strong four-on-the-floor beat and the higher key! Notice how this version is lower-pitched and has less of that that four-on-the-floor beat.
I think she will put this in her Speak Now (taylor's version) vault tracks, just like how she put the all too well (10 minute version) in her RED (taylor's version) as one of her vault tracks.
I think would be a like-bonus track, not sure if she's willing to add bonus tracks to her versions though since she didn't do for fearless or red TV... but I hope...🥲🥲🥲 like she did for red in the stolen version (the song itself and the demo version)
If taylor rerecord the sparks fly (country version) maybe it will be on debut, because taylor wrote 40-50 songs from speak now and if i'm not mistaken speak now have 10 vault tracks.
OMG I would love to see this banjo version on Taylor's Speak Now Rerecord man... it is so good and I can almost hear it on the album... it'd be a great closing track for sure
The hidden message in this song's lyrics is "PORTLAND OREGON" and in that city in October 2006, she opened for a guy by the name of Jake Owen. Also she mentions in the song "Green eyes" and Jake has green eyes. Creepy thing about it tho is when she wrote it she was 16 and he 25 and the lyrics originally and even on the album version seem sexual like "lead me up the staircase". Like even teenage Taylor had raging sexual hormones it seems haha
I love this version, but I think I prefer the newer one better, I don't know, I just think it seems more mature and fits better than the lyrics in this version. :)
Elise Criqui same and I’ve been listening since 2006 had all her songs and bonus tracks cds and never heard this version she changed a few of the lyrics too
This version is so much better. This version is so much sexier than the studio version. This song tells what it feels like to be in that first-phase burning hot infatuation-phase of a relationship.
imagine: Sparks Fly (Taylor's Version) on Speak Now (Taylor's Version) AND Sparks Fly (Earlier Version) (Taylor's Version) (From the Vault) on Taylor Swift (Taylor's Version)!!
Is this really about the first time? Omg! Sparks fly is like my song to my bf (the album version) then I hear this after all these years. It was an innocent song until I hear this. Can't believe taytay would could write those mature lyrics lol. Forever swiftie ❤️❤️❤️ PS. This song will never be the same again.
@h2olewis817 no this was never played on the Fearless tour, it's only been played a few times when Taylor was like 18 :).. @h2olewis817 Yep that's because that's where she met the guy she's singing about :).. @h2olewis817 nothing will ever beat the original version :).. but i saw the new one on the speak now tour and it was amazing
The lyric changes don't bother me as much as the fact the the back sound of the fiddle and banjo were taken away. The beautiful county backdrop has been replaced by an electric guitar, making the song much more pop-y. If only Taylor had stuck with this.
How wonderful would it have been if she kept the original drum beat or the country instrumentation in all of its glory. This is better than the pop rock instrumentation she eventually went with
the fiddle/banjo sound in the beginning sounds like love story/fearless opening! it would be so cool if she released a country version because this has fearless vibes edit: spelling
@NiceWhereYouAre It's awesome!! I love this song but this version definitely gets me more than the one on "Speak Now". The banjo and drums combo is better than guitar-drums. Plus added violin in the bridge is much better!
@daisylove2000 where exactly on this video/description does it say 'Official Video', I think you'll find it says 'Original Version' because this is in fact the original version of Sparks Fly!
I like the lyrics better in the newer version but the country instrumentation better in the original one. I wish she kept it instead of replacing it with the electric guitar.
Since Taylor Swift is going to rerecord her albums, petition to add this original version of Sparks Fly in her Speak Now Taylor's Version Vault. :))) HOPING....
I love Taylor and everything but I can't help but like the newer version a lot better than this. It may be because I'm so used to the newer version but I feel like this one doesn't tell the same story as the new version. However do I love the lines 'I'd love to hate it,but you make it like a firework show'.
In 2020 she'll start the record her all musics (because sco*ter br*un) and she'll some new recorded old songs put in to her new albums and i really wish sparks fly's this version in her new albums
It’s crazy to think that in 2023, we’re still getting a new version, the Taylor’s Version of Sparks Fly. Such a classic.
cant believe she wrote this when she was only 16, and 6 years later its on one of her albums
and six years later shes about to release her seventh studio album
Six years later she's going to rerecord this and I can't wait to hear it
@@amelias6138 And now she's released folklore, still beating records with an alternative/country/pop album!
It went on her album 4 years later not 6

Fearless (Taylor’s version ) probably
The rewrite is better, but it's nice to hear the earlier version too.
She still clearly says 'I'm captivated by you baby likes fireworks show' in both versions.
In another version it was "I'd love to hate it but you make it like a fireworks show"
The context of the scene is clearer than the rewritten version, they were dancing in a bar rather than literally dropping things at the street and dancing in the rain
"in an empty bar". Bby girl was a teenager at the time. What is she talking about? 😂😂
Mskittenlover12 maybe she met the guy during the period she used to have performances in the bars;)
Yeah I think she started performing in bars when she was like 13. :P
Mskittenlover12 It may even refer to both an empty bar in music when she wasnt singing as well as in an actual bar.

she was 19 when she released the official version. She wouldnt be allowed to be around a bar at that age nonetheless at 16/17
