Yep, that's 5 of the Dreamcatcher members. That song was a trauma for them for years until their 2022 World Tour in Seoul concert when all 7 performed the song to thunderous applause. th-cam.com/video/nrx9JqGYbgY/w-d-xo.html All InSomnias secretly love Minx.
On your way to becoming a real InSominia. Likewise, if you've been through more than one holiday season without doing "Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree", you can't be taken seriously ...
There is a single picture of them with Mamamoo in 2015 and it's worth finding bc it's the cutest, pinkest, most baby either group has ever been. That's what solidified that Minx was for real. There was no equivalent to Dreamcatcher Note and the official videos that do exist are generally 5 minutes or less of unsubbed content. There are many Minx busking videos and those honestly bring tears to my eyes because they had so much talent from a young age.
ahh! I will find that picture and post it, that sounds pretty cool! I hate when I hear that idols had to do busking, it feels unsafe and just not nearly what most idols deserve. thats pretty sad
@@Killdeer25 their busking as Dreamcatcher was low key depressing bc they were mostly walking around trying to get people to listen to them. It was a bit easier as Minx because it was an easier to digest concept. One thing about the Minx MV’s that many Insomnia miss is the comments section. So many VitaMinx were excited for the re-debut. 🥺
Ha! I actually thought you'd checked out Minx already. Now you've got to check out the concert performance where Dreamcatcher covered Minx sunbaenim. You've also got to check out Why Did you Come to My Home, which is their debut and is the better song, IMO. Looking forward to that Virtuous review.
@@Killdeer25 "why did you come to my home" is another one, their debut. While it is in the sameish cutesy style, it is unironically a banger and IMO way better song than Love Shake is. As a proper somnia metalhead, I love them both though.
This is not actually their debut; their first song was Why Did You Come to My Home?, released in September 2014 as a single, then this came ten months later on the Love Shake mini-album. Love Shake originated as a B-side from Dal*Shabet, their "big sister" group, and I'd say is a little more "bubblegum" than their other stuff, though not by a lot. 😜 Most of them weren't huge fans of this stuff themselves, and when they ultimately didn't make it in the sea of similar fare, it left a scar... and for some (especially Siyeon) it didn't really heal until their first win as Dreamcatcher. Luckily, their management realised that the problem was the marketing and not the girls, and they decided to re-try with a completely different tack. Their CEO joked (?) that if Dreamcatcher didn't work out either, he'd set up a cucumber business for them...
@@Killdeer25 Not that convoluted really; they debuted with a single, followed up with this mini-album, then decided they weren't doing the desired numbers and needed a reboot. 🙂
Oh no you finally did it. Honestly I wouldn't have blamed you if you had left this can of worms closed haha, I mean everyone has to decide for themselves, but I know there are some people out there who would say "if you love Dreamcatcher you _have_ to check out Minx, it's part of their story" and I'm not in that camp at all. I remember Handong sometimes did the dance to Love Shake (just a tiny bit of it) just to tease the other members it was really funny; but yeah overall some of the members really didn't like to think back to the Minx days. Siyeon, SuA and Dami especially; Siyeon actually explained seriously one time that she was really unhappy during their Minx days because she didn't like the music they were making; while SuA once got actually upset when someone suggested cutting her hair short, she was really serious when she said "never again". And Dami sometimes just cringes into another dimension when Minx is mentioned haha. Meanwhile some others like JiU don't seem to mind it much (JiU definitely likes cute stuff a bit more compared to some other members). Some members also sometimes jokingly refer to Minx as "Minx sunbae-nim" as if they are a different group who are Dreamcatcher's seniors 😂 But I guess they got a bit better about it because they actually performed Love Shake last year or so? Or maybe two years ago almost, at a concert they did in South Korea 😅 Honestly as much as the song is kinda fun, it's not really my vibe (even though I do like some cute stuff). And some shots of the music video make me a little uncomfortable actually, especially in the beach scene, seeing how Dami and Yoohyeon were like barely 18 here. There are some similar shots in their other music video where I'm like "was that necessary?" Maybe that's also because of the _huge_ contrast because Dreamcatcher have pretty much never worn anything remotely revealing, the few exceptions being for special merch or covers (looking at you, SuA) and even that was waaay later in their career as well.
Yeah, I had to. My brain got too curious. It had to be done, although I do not think that if your insomnia, you don't have to be a fan of Minx, I feel like it's really weird because it just we know it doesn't fit them in all honesty. Like it's fine, if this was a Oh My Girl or a TWICE or maybe Momoland it would work. Not Dreamcatcher. That is a cute name as Minx Sunbae-nim haha!
Yes, even though the concept was still with other groups at that time, their songs weren't bad either... Yes, unfortunately they lost to groups from big companies so it was easier for other groups to become popular. but yes...without all that, maybe we would never have known Dreamcatcher 🤘🏻🤘🏻
fetus dreamcatcher :D I do actually like this song, but I hate the music videos. They were really sexualizing the girls, and i believe Yoohyeon and Dami were still minors. Dami was the maknae, and was really glad that Gahyun took the role later lmao Minx era was overall really hard for them, since they weren't from a big company and standing out is really difficult when you have such a big competition / aren't from the big three (3 of the largest companies: YG, JYP and SM). The girls would literally perform everywhere to promote their music but it went nowhere. I'm not sure when the disbandment was, but it was around 2016. Siyeon would not leave her room and couldn't watch music shows without crying, since she was jealous others were living her dream. It wasn't the music she wanted to make, since she was a big rock fan and was on a rock band for 5 years before Minx. But she's happy now though, and even wrote a song called 'Paradise' that was released in 2020. The song is to her younger self, and if you are interested in hearing it, there's three Special clips and a piano version for it. I recommend checking out 'Why Did You Come To My Home?' too, it's their debut song and I think it's even better than this one.
I could see this being a difficult time. Honestly, I think the music works, but knowing that this is Dreamcatcher, I don't feel that this is where they are meant to be, I feel like that when I watch this, it is missing that something
🤣 the FACE lmao. "Why did you come to my home" is a far more serviceable track. Showcases Siyeon's much earlier vocal prowess. But I'm telling ya man, Minx' real bitching of a track all time to me is "Shut Up". Dare I say it, that's THE track that'll fit to be "Deukae-fied" given half a chance. Check out Scott Forsyth - Make A Tune's metal cover of it.

I am so glad that they were able to heal and get passed it, I cant believe that this is them still
Dreamcatcher's dark past is bright and colorful.
for real

that is so rough.
Imagine the dark alternate timeline where this song blew up and Dreamcatcher never formed!

oh interesting! I will have to check that out, this was already wild enough, will I be able to handle it? maybe... yes! probably next week!
Thank you for the Minx reaction. September 18th this year is Minx's 10th debut anniversary.

Look up the Minx song “Action”.

bet!
Oh my gosh I'm laughing so hard I'm crying, this is the most amusing reaction. 🤣
