Toasters are uncomplicated appliances with heating elements, a thermostat, switches, and plugs and cords. Most of the time when they malfunction, they just haven’t been cleaned thoroughly enough. Of course the heating elements can burn out after time, and plugs, cords, and switches get faulty, but if you maintain your toaster as suggested below, the toaster should give you years of service before the electrical parts wear out. If you get a shock when you touch the toaster, it’s not grounded. Get a replacement from the store or take it to a professional for repairs. What to do when your toast won’t stay down The latch that locks the carriage in place may be blocked by crumbs. To clean them out, you need a screwdriver, canned air or a handheld pump, and lubricant, which you can get at an appliance service center. Now follow these steps: Unplug the toaster. Remove the carriage lever and unscrew the front cover. When the cover is off, blow any crumbs from the latch assembly. Test the latch to make sure it moves up and down easily. If it still sticks, apply a little lubricant. Look at the heating coils too to see whether all the crumbs have been removed. If not, blow them out with the forced air. After cleaning and lubricating the toaster, put the cover back, plug it in, and fix yourself some toast. If the toast still won’t go up or down, buy yourself a new toaster. What to do when the toast won’t pop up Your toaster’s thermostat may be set incorrectly. To reset it, follow these steps: Unplug the toaster. Take off the carriage lever and front cover and look for a knob, screw, or nut located near the toast light-to-dark control on the outside of most toasters. Turn the knob, screw, or switch to the left, as on the lighter-control position. Replace the cover, plug in the toaster, and test it by toasting a piece of bread. If the toast still burns, then the thermostat has to be reset. This is controlled either by a dial or lever usually on the front of the toaster. You can reset the thermostat. Here’s how. If you turn a dial to make the toast light-to-dark, take the dial knob off. Readjust the screw behind it, turning it toward “lighter” on the toaster - or darker if the bread won’t toast. You’ll probably have to turn the screw only slightly, not a full turn. Put the knob back on and test the toaster with a slice of bread. If the toast is still dark, then adjust the screw a little again. If your toaster has a lever controlling light and dark, bend it slightly up or down. For instance if you want your toast lighter, and the display for lighter is at the top of the lever channel, then you will bend the lever up. What if your toast won’t stay down and the toaster buzzes? This usually happens because the toaster hasn’t cooled off. You can correct this problem by setting the control to dark or just depressing the lever again. If waiting or resetting the control doesn’t work, then the solenoid switch needs to be replaced, a moderately difficult repair. Call for a service estimate and if it’s too high, please buy a new toaster

I usually like convertibles more than coupes . Having said that the reatta coupe shape is dare I say sexy where the convertible looks squareish to point of a Volvo .
I never cared about the convertible,I lost interest in convertibles in the 70,s I just want bucket seats and console, and I don't even want a stick in my Buick, the Riviera was the donor car but the reattta, was the Riviera alter ego.❤❤❤😂😂😂
I would love to do some mods to one of these. Can the side trim, some nice wheels and a proper stance and do something with the 3800, supercharged? Or a swap. Tasteful LS? Not big on my GM motors. I kinda like the idea of a screaming 6, and all I think about is 90s Yamaha V6 in the Taurus SHO.... that was a proper motor.
If these cars were so unpopular then why did Buick cascada try to replace the reatta in 2016, the cascada was even more unpopular than the reatta, just as the Cadillac XLR was even more unpopular than the allante❤❤❤❤.
Bugs me less than "botty roll." Every time he says it, I wish the car in question would have had stiffer roll bars...except then he'd say how there's "no botty roll," so you can't win.
I had the Allanté (the Cadillac version) with the original Northstar V8 and it was damn fast once I put an Eaton Supercharger on it. I also had a Miata. The Miata was the biggest chunk of shit I ever drove, even though I kept hearing how reliable it was supposed to be. The problem with the Allanté was lack of parts. There's like one mechanic in Florida that can work on these competently, and Florida's too damn far for me to take it in for work.
Maybe reliable by GM standards (that's not saying much though) but it's a harsh pig of an engine that has a short stroke but still can't rev hence its rubbish torque figures. They sound like a bunch of pots and pans being thrown around a room at any RPM over idle. Yuck.
Early 90s GM their cars were like legos basically anything Chevy,Buick, or Pontiac back then could mix and match about anything and shared Chassis styles (F-body, J-Body, etc) people bought from dealers more then and never really noticed as much it's convenient now when working on them though. Consider if this thing only took reatta parts, it'd be pointless to try maintaining it
Christian Johnson eh, I’m a mechanic and Honda has a fair few issues as well. They also have a strong reputation and loyal customers, I once said to a lady after her civic returned to the shop for the sixth time in a month that it was about time to replace it. She without a shred of irony said “nah, I’m never selling this car....it’s just so reliable” I buy vehicles that are a decent blend of reliable and cheap to fix, in my experience that equals GM and some Japanese models. Never had an issue from my Silverado other than a few batteries🤷♂️
This thing confused me when it came out. WTF is it supposed to be, exactly? Now I kinda like it, but I don't know if it's because it's become less confusing or if I've just gotten used to confusion.
I like it because its looks are very of the time period, and thus nostalgic, while also being unique for its time. If it was a RWD car with a manual option I bet it would have at least hewn closer to being a successful car rather than the flop that it was; its looks shout "sports car!" but its ride is "luxury boat".

I usually like convertibles more than coupes . Having said that the reatta coupe shape is dare I say sexy where the convertible looks squareish to point of a Volvo .
I had one of these for 3 years before the Dashboard caught on fire.
Some wider tires and the 3.8 Turbo would've made this a very potent car.
They put a Grand National engine into it. Too much torque steer.
I had an 88 Reatta. These cars were way ahead of their time! Didn’t like how they changed the dash area though.
I never cared about the convertible,I lost interest in convertibles in the 70,s I just want bucket seats and console, and I don't even want a stick in my Buick, the Riviera was the donor car but the reattta, was the Riviera alter ego.❤❤❤😂😂😂
Storage is fine when you want to carry a single magazine like in this demonstration.
We have two of these in my work wreaking yard I never herd of it till I saw it
theres a reatta parked in a back alley near my house. sadly though it looks like it doesnt get driven very often :/
1990 Buick Reatta - Good enough for the Elephant Man?
2:37 WHY WOULD GET RID OF THE COOL 80'S TOUCH SCREEN CENTER CONSOLE, IT LOOKED SOO COOOOOL!!!
The price for this car in 2018 money, adjusted for inflation, $67k!
This is one of my fav cars gm ever produced old ones and new ones
Please do road test on 88 to 90 regal. I have an 89 and love old Buick's better than any car from that year.
Seen one of these at a pick n pill parking lot..
Awesome thanks
I would love to do some mods to one of these. Can the side trim, some nice wheels and a proper stance and do something with the 3800, supercharged? Or a swap. Tasteful LS? Not big on my GM motors. I kinda like the idea of a screaming 6, and all I think about is 90s Yamaha V6 in the Taurus SHO.... that was a proper motor.
Yea that's true, I'm thinking an all-out project, well, just fantasizing... hah. The look has really grown on me.
*****
Yep I think you're on to that one! Forgot about it... My Dad had a 97 (I think) Olds Aurora with a great V8 as well.
*****
Used to be an early 80s Rabbit with a Northstar V8 locally. Crazy little car.
+SonOfTamriel I think I saw that car in a magazine back in the day. Was it silver?
*****
I think it went through a few changes in colour, definitely silver at one time, and it was featured in a Eurotuner mag I believe.
that's the exact question i'm pondering at this moment: allante or reatta.
what did you decide?
Why is it that you never see cars like this on Mecum auto auctions?! Though it's not a world beater, it has classic good looks!
No stick
Is the cadillac allante much of a rival if they're both owned by the same company?
When was the last time you saw an Allante driving around
Last week
I saw one of these a few months ago and genuinely did not know it was a Buick at first.
You are lucky you saw one, I haven't seen one since I was in high school.
If these cars were so unpopular then why did Buick cascada try to replace the reatta in 2016, the cascada was even more unpopular than the reatta, just as the Cadillac XLR was even more unpopular than the allante❤❤❤❤.
I am from Germany and I had a black Reatta AND also later a Allante in red!!! I had much fun with both and today I´m angry that I sold them!!!
Was this car related to the FWD Lotus Elan of the early 1990s? I know GM and Lotus worked together back then.
The rear antenna loves to break ( i used to work on these a lot at dealerships)
nope i have one with 12 million miles and original functioning antenna
Funny thing how he complained about the touchscreen controls that are now in almost every modern vehicle. But these are my favorite cars by far!
i have a '89. best car i have owned
C L I have a '97 LeSabre with the 3800 Series II V-6. It has 274,000 miles on it, without any trouble whatsoever.
1988 Olds 98 Regency Brougham, same engine with 220k miles on it... strong car, drives about 300 miles a week, good MPGs (around 30)
Buick has a Convertible today in 2020..still doing Buick things
1:08 he always says 'excape', drives me nuts
J.A. M.F The good news is: Since he was reviewing a Buick, We didn't have to hear him say "Ohzmobile"!
Bugs me less than "botty roll." Every time he says it, I wish the car in question would have had stiffer roll bars...except then he'd say how there's "no botty roll," so you can't win.
Why Reatta when you can Miata for less moolah???
+Keaton Belliston The Miata's a pure sports car, the Reatta was more of a luxury car.
Two tooooOootally different buyers there, Buddy.
Some people are too big for a miata.
@Private Account I'll take the barely legal cheerleader over the supermodel any day. Super models have already been shored out.
Jesus, GM used this V6 is sooo many of their models.
Think about how much money they made on such a raspy motor. Think about how much money they made on looks and asthmatic performance xD
It was an insanely reliable engine, next to the 4.3 V6.
The 3800 V6 was one of the best motors GM ever made. For whatever that fact means to you...
If the 3800 had metal intake manifold gaskets or an intake manifold without coolant passages, this engine would have no major weakness.
Maybe reliable by GM standards (that's not saying much though) but it's a harsh pig of an engine that has a short stroke but still can't rev hence its rubbish torque figures. They sound like a bunch of pots and pans being thrown around a room at any RPM over idle. Yuck.
A bit amazed at how many GM cars are introduced and then a few years later are gone... can't begin the list...at least they try!
I want to see the CRT displays they keep talking about. Is that in a previous review?
LockTest Yeah, the CRT was only available on the 1988-1989 Reatta.
Buick had a winner with this one; however, think of what it would've been capable of with the GN drivetrain and FR layout.
They were always so optimistic about American brands' future prospects
I need one desperately
This was a nice car. It's not even extremely slow compared to modern cars.
Man. This riatta can get me laid back then. Say f it on the freeway and go over 100 mph in this car.👍✌😁.
It has the same shift lever as a Cavalier lol.
Early 90s GM their cars were like legos basically anything Chevy,Buick, or Pontiac back then could mix and match about anything and shared Chassis styles (F-body, J-Body, etc) people bought from dealers more then and never really noticed as much it's convenient now when working on them though. Consider if this thing only took reatta parts, it'd be pointless to try maintaining it
And Acuras use Civic and Accord parts....
@@DrewLSsix but it's all Honda... much more dependable than GM
Christian Johnson eh, I’m a mechanic and Honda has a fair few issues as well.
They also have a strong reputation and loyal customers, I once said to a lady after her civic returned to the shop for the sixth time in a month that it was about time to replace it. She without a shred of irony said “nah, I’m never selling this car....it’s just so reliable”
I buy vehicles that are a decent blend of reliable and cheap to fix, in my experience that equals GM and some Japanese models.
Never had an issue from my Silverado other than a few batteries🤷♂️
What kind of finger sorcery is this? 2:36
This is the only Buick I actually like the look of. Probably this over the Allante.
Those were some skinny suitcases...
Every time I see a Cascada, I say "Somebody bought one!"
please do the 1986 f -150
I had one of those.. Good truck
Stonewashed jeans
Michael Johns ICYu2 That was the '80's! Gotta love it.
Please post the review on the 1988-1996 Buick Century.
