Tressa, I really like that you shared your Astoria story! Now I wish that I had tried some of your rye bread when you lived here. Skagen is a type of town that I would certainly enjoy.

Hi Larry! 😊 So glad you enjoyed the Astoria story! If only you had tried some of that rye bread back then-it was pretty good if I say so myself! 😄 Skagen is definitely your kind of town, charming and peaceful, with that Scandinavian touch. You’d love it. Thanks for watching and keeping in touch!

Zarko glad you enjoyed revisiting your fishing past, viewing the very large fishing boats
    of Skagen.
    Fish oil
    is produced here
.and also a large fishing industry.
Skagen is the most northen town of Denmark,
    where two different waters meet.
The whole towns houses are painted bright yellow, with orange roofs.
There are beautiful colourful wild flowers and no pollution or rubbish, it is a very clean town.

I've had a longtime interesti in Skagen and wish to visit - I love impressionist art and Skagen is famous for it's painters who focused on the special light there. The artwork is stunning - of it's time but beautiful. How amazing that it's such a small town. Especially when you consider the scale of the fishing there. But in any case, check out Skagen painters - thank you again for sharing. What a lovely clean safe, tidy little town Skagan is. I really loved this one!

That’s awesome! Skagen is definitely a special place, and if you love impressionist art, you’d be in heaven there. It’s amazing how such a small, peaceful town has such a rich cultural and artistic history. And yes, it’s incredibly clean, safe, and just has that tidy charm that makes it even more inviting. Glad you loved this one as much as we did! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts! 😊

Hi Teresa and Zarko; I fully enjoy your videos and at times unfiltered comments about the locale that you're dropped in. In this episode you mentioned your 'affinity' towards the Danes, since you got your start from a Danish lady in your youth.
There are dozens of books analyzing the reasons for the Danish people coming up on top of the list of the 'happiest' people on the planet. If you're interested, I've read one such book by Helen Russel (an American journalist) who moves to Denmark with her husband who is promoted to be a Lego executive. The book is quite an easy read and depicts many interesting (read peculiar for North American) Danish customs and life-styles....Enjoy.

Thanks so much for watching and for your thoughtful comment! 😊 We definitely have a soft spot for the Danes, thanks to that early influence in our lives. It's always fun to learn more about why they’re considered some of the happiest people around! That book by Helen Russell sounds like a great read-we’ll have to check it out. The mix of Danish customs and lifestyles with a bit of humor sounds right up our alley. Appreciate the recommendation, and thanks for sticking with us on our adventures!

What Zarko no beer.....It looks like the perfect place to sit down and have beer........

Haha, there was definitely a beer, just not caught on camera! Zarko likes to keep it low-key so no one thinks he’s a heavy drinker, which he definitely isn’t! 😄 Trust me, it was the perfect spot for a cold one. Thanks for watching and keeping an eye out for us! 🍻

Notice how many boutiques, restaurants wine and ice-cream shops there are in Skagen that only have 7,476 inhabitants, but it's kind of typical for Denmark that small towns have vastly more good restaurants and shopping opportunities than a likewise small town in the USA or elsewhere.

Danish towns really know how to make the most of what they have, and it shows in places like Skagen!

Skagen is where the Baltic sea and the North seas meet. The light is different here and artists like to paint at Skagen, because of that. There are many different land formations for artists to paint with the special clear light.

Please do as Dragør and make it impossible for cruiseship turist to visit. It's absolutely the most damaging form of tourism. Dragør even fought hard not to become a world heritage site. Only because of cruise ships tourist.

As a diverse traveler who's currently on a 9-month cruise, I totally get where you're coming from. Cruising isn’t the same as real travel-it’s more like a floating vacation. Lately, it’s all about those massive ships with private islands and Broadway-style entertainment. When we travel independently, we actually avoid those cruise-heavy spots too. I can see why places like Dragør would want to keep their charm and fight off the impact of mass tourism. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Sorry, that wasn't fair, I travelled most of the world, and I despise cruise ships, like nothing else. But my comment didn't belong in your video.
I'm glad you enjoyed your visit in my little country, and I wish you the best future travels. Even though you are on a cruise ship, as a sailor, I wish you fair wind.
