Once you have dropped through to the bottom floor of the crypt you get launched out backwards and then it does a dip down into an upwards helix - which then goes to the switch track section and you go back to the station. Fun ride! Don't expect intensity like Nemesis, just expect a fun ride that everyone can enjoy and you will come off feeling happy.
I rode it at bootcamp and WOW!! It was incredible!!! Its still not finished yet! So what you are seeing is a ride with no audio , no effects and no showlighting only work lighting! Wait till you see the done thing its brilliant!
For the fools who don't understand about the drop... This is the first vertical drop done by track. The track drops instead of the train itself. The effects inside also add to it, so it is a world first, which parks will indeed take as an idea, and improve on it.
The corkscrews have a nice place at the front of the Plaza now - it is a good monument to the first ride that put Alton Towers onto the road to where it is now. 2) The Black Hole tent will get a seeing too sometime down the line, and Th13teen is better where it is now (to fit with the theming) than in X-Sector.
People stop complaining about the ride, none of us have been on it before so how can we judge it if the effects still aren't working, and you never know that drop in the dark might be better and more intense than it looks! Please think good of this ride, as it is the first major investment in a good ride that Alton Towers have made in 4 years (since Rita)! THINK POSITIVELY!!!
To be fair having been in the crypt with the lights on and getting the oppertunity to walk around both levels this video makes the drop look shorter than it is, though it still isn't very high. But it feels good
It's for TV, so they over-exagerate a bit. Also, it's not the backwards section that makes it, it's the 'Worlds First Freefall Drop Rollercoaster'. Don't judge it till you have tried it.
so were u on GMTV news then?. i =m so jealous. if i was 18 i would have entered! when are you gonna release another ride. your our inspiration! YOU MUST DO YOUR OWN VERSION OF THIRTEEN!
The effects inside will make it better, and I did have a look at the other video and it looked MUCH better. It will probably just be a fun experience, which like others say other parks will take the idea and improve, like they did with Oblivion and Air.
There's no harm in going up to the rides exit and asking a member of staff to check to see if you do - instead of waiting in the queue and finding you don't. I saw it done on Saturday and they were fine about it. You can do the same - lets hope you can and enjoy Th13teen like it should be enjoyed. Good luck!
Its fast! But its so much better then Saw The Ride. I think it will appeal to a large market and all ages will love it! Its gonna really scare a fair few gusts tho! Bootcamp we did loads of activities it was amazing and scary at times! Those Wraiths attack! Beware as you enter the dark Forst its NOT safe..
@ziggyame Is it worth all the hype? were going on the 27th and we were wondering if it would be worth it in the queue (it would probably be about 11/2 - 3 hours). BTW i didn't know u got into boot camp. what were the tests like? could u produce a video explaining what is was like :-P
Alton have limits to the height they can build to so they have to be innovative. Which they do well. Parks around the world copy a concept and make it taller, longer, ect. Alton have limited space and a height limit - they do what they can with what they are given - Just look at Nemesis - AMAZINGLY DONE!
@joeissik All the rides at Alton Towers are short - but waiting 80 minutes for a new rides isn't bad. Th13teen eats the queues too. I remember waiting nearly 3 hours for Air and that was in 2008 but it due to breakdown and a long queue.
You have it wrong. This is a Prototype in the sense that it's never been done before, but this is the 'Real Deal'. Just like Air was a Prototype and that is also the 'Real Deal' and a good ride. People just get overwhelmed by parks in other countries that let them do what they want.
To answer your points: 1) Corkscrew was getting old and maintence costs were high for the ride that it was - It was just more sense to remove it and replace it with a new ride. I mean what is the point of moving a ride that is so old and high in maintence costs - and lets be honest, wasn't as popular nowadays - to another area of the park? There is no business sense in that. Oh, and it wouldn't of fitted.
the ride was more of a prototype than the real thing, cause the real thing would be taller and have a bigger vertical drop (if you dont get what im saying watch the video and youll get it)
Unfortunatly a lot of people would say yes. I for one would say no. Most people are naive and thing its all about the height and speed of a ride - which is clearly not true.
@immaBlackEyedPea8D The 'one ride per day' is just marketing hype - As is the age restriction of being 16 or over. There are no age or ride restrictions other than you have to be 1.2M tall to ride and no taller than 1.96M tall.
:O that it? i fort it would be better then that... it looks fun not reallly got that scary aspect :( am a bit disapointed i was expecting more and its a bit short or was that just me? still i when i go i will see for my self weather it is good i mite get better feel then watching a video about it
The size of a rollercoaster doesn't matter - As proof by the Pepsi Max Big One - it's drop after drop and isn't the best layout. The only thing that the Big One has going for it is the height...and that has been outdone now. Height isn't everything for a rollercoaster - have more of an open mind. And don't judge before you have ridden.
looks no where near as good as they hyped it up 2 be. the start loooks alright but free-fall? free-fall about 1.5 metres obviously the scenery isnt there yet
Worlds first freefall drop rollercoaster... LOL omg... It fucking falls for about 5 feet? lol I shouldn't have got so :D:D:D:D:D about this ride because it is a proper let down and looks SHIT!
Once you have dropped through to the bottom floor of the crypt you get launched out backwards and then it does a dip down into an upwards helix - which then goes to the switch track section and you go back to the station.

i love her facial expressions when the surprise happens
omg it was pritty good. i thought it could hav been a bit faster for the wait. im going again very soon :D if your going into the woods today.... ;)
I for one think this is an amazing ride , can't wait to get my grubby hands onto it.
The corkscrews have a nice place at the front of the Plaza now - it is a good monument to the first ride that put Alton Towers onto the road to where it is now.

There better be effects in that Crypt, or 'Th13teen' has been exaggerated '13' times more than it should have been.
Its fast! But its so much better then Saw The Ride. I think it will appeal to a large market and all ages will love it! Its gonna really scare a fair few gusts tho!

@moo331
It`s opening this weekend. They certaintly can`t improve it at that little time.
you do realise the surroundings of the ride hasn't been finished on this. they rode it a while ago they just weren't aloud to show it.
It has been outdone now, but only in the UK.
@ziggyame Is it worth all the hype? were going on the 27th and we were wondering if it would be worth it in the queue (it would probably be about 11/2 - 3 hours). BTW i didn't know u got into boot camp. what were the tests like? could u produce a video explaining what is was like :-P

hope there is effects in that crypt!!!

them wraiths are funny lmao
Sorry I meant to say...
...It has been outdone, but only by rides OUTSIDE the UK.

Have you been on it? Don't judge till you have experienced it! It's a fun ride - not thrilling. Enjoy it for what it is!
sorry for double posting but i fort it could of had some loops or some corkscrews just something to spice it up abit
Unfortunatly a lot of people would say yes. I for one would say no. Most people are naive and thing its all about the height and speed of a ride - which is clearly not true.
i was really hoping 4 something better than that :'(
WTF even the old Corkscrew was faster than this...
is the drop really that small?
I went on th13teen yesterday I thought it was good but could of been a bit longer. I waited 80mins to get on it
SFX HAS to be turned off for that video......the hype alton towers has given it cant justify THAT....
i thought they said this ride plays with emotional fear aswelll... Correct me if i'm wrong
@megadeth747 The scary part is the drop is sudden and pretty violent.
@immaBlackEyedPea8D
The 'one ride per day' is just marketing hype - As is the age restriction of being 16 or over. There are no age or ride restrictions other than you have to be 1.2M tall to ride and no taller than 1.96M tall.
So much for the worlds first phycoaster
Wot a BIG BIG BIG let down
But I'll probably enjoy it
I hope this isn't finished properly yet... They must still need to do some scenery work. But... Yeah, I was hoping for something better too.... :\
Yep, 1.2M
Pepsi Max Big One isn't rubbish, the first drop is incredible. But Nemesis does in fact beat it :)
:O that it? i fort it would be better then that... it looks fun not reallly got that scary aspect :( am a bit disapointed i was expecting more and its a bit short or was that just me? still i when i go i will see for my self weather it is good i mite get better feel then watching a video about it
no just a height requirement lyk any other ride
The size of a rollercoaster doesn't matter - As proof by the Pepsi Max Big One - it's drop after drop and isn't the best layout. The only thing that the Big One has going for it is the height...and that has been outdone now.
Height isn't everything for a rollercoaster - have more of an open mind. And don't judge before you have ridden.
ahhh i hate people screaming in rollercoasters -.-
it's a short ride :S
OMG wot a fucking let down !!! all that hype for this !
That's all? I'm freaking 10 and I'm going on smiler and have done silver star and blue fire
Der Coaster is irgendwie billig: 16m hoch....
Aber hat irgendwie coole Elemente
No, that is just Marketing spiel. It is not real.
@bobzilla211 Imagine what she would be like on Oblivion xD
no it doesnt ive beeen on tose rides and they tilt!
lol look at the wraiths
looks no where near as good as they hyped it up 2 be.
the start loooks alright but free-fall?
free-fall about 1.5 metres
obviously the scenery isnt there yet
Inversions aren't everything. Ride experience is made up of more than just them - Your outlook is a little naive.
@ofelixdacat Now that is a stereotype! You don't even know the dude so give him a break!
@Bankzy108 yesssss i'm finally tall inough for a fast ride wickeddddd :)
@UltraRobbie Hence why it is shit, because you get that on a drop ride
@19ludie lol
What a let down! All that hype and its just a family coaster. I got all excited for nothing!
@mcrbillytalent Proper let down I am lol
it doesnt look that good! the going backward thing has been on other rides be4!!
@megadeth747 it does look shit
Hmmmm... I'm quite disappointed with this..
She is afraid because she is a girl xD
a big fan of alton towers... this looks dissapointing, especially after all the hype.
Worlds first freefall drop rollercoaster...
LOL omg...
It fucking falls for about 5 feet? lol
I shouldn't have got so :D:D:D:D:D about this ride because it is a proper let down and looks SHIT!
Not impressed, it has been over hyped. Lets have a good wood coaster, much more enjoyable.
How’s Wicker Man for you?
How COW the presenter is annoying, glad I don't have to go on any rides with her.
how disappointing
meh.
hahaaa what coward lol hahaaaaaa or should a say not being rude but theres no loops lol
Wow, it looks so boring. Totally not impressed at all. Seriously rubbish theming.
