More from the Spain trip. This time we’re taking the narrow gauge Renfe service from Los Nietos - Cartagena. The line opened in 1874 to serve the Cartagena-La Unión mines and mining communities east of Cartagena. In 1976 the railway was extended to its current terminus at Los Nietos. Renfe Feve is a division of the Spanish railway company Renfe Operadora. It operates most of Spain's 1,250 km (777 mi) of 1,000 mm (3 ft 3+3⁄8 in) metre gauge railway.

Those seats remind me a bit of the old Class 150 'Sprinters' that we used to get on the line to Manchester Victoria (if we were lucky, otherwise it would be an old 'Pacer' with the bus seats).

Ah the Pacer. Those were the days! I can see the similarity with the 150 seats. Did the 150s have the ‘In Train Entertainment’ option like this one?
I don't recall seeing that on our budget North West Rail version. The only similar thing I've seen is the radio that we used to get on Virgin Rail. You could buy headphones from the trolley, or got them free in 1st Class.
This was pre-smartphone though when you either had nothing, a Walkman (R) or, if you were rich, an iPod!

Oh I love Spain so much, thanks for this both! I know on the AVE trains they'll often play movies onboard, but this journey would be a short film!
Aye, it’s a funny one. I wondered had the seats been constructed for something else or done as a job lot. Spain is fab, we love it too although the sunshine feels like a distant memory!

Ah the wonders of railway gauges. This isn’t the narrowest, there are a variety of narrow gauges around the world, some at 600mm then there’s ‘minimum gauge’ at 597mm. It’s fascinating stuff.

I’ve never been to Spain , but that little train reminds me a lot of the shuttle between Stourbridge Junction and Stourbridge Town , a trip I made regularly when I lived in the UK . That trip is still operated by a single carriage rail car . Have fun in Espana .

I’ve travelled on these DMUs a lot before. They are awesome! Now to answer your question on the seat plugs, they never play movies on any FEVE train. These trains are meant for commuter and regional journeys in Northern Spain, and were built to have channels on board but RENFE never used that feature. Overall, I love these trains so much. There’s also a FEVE 2700 series DMU in northern Spain which is quite similar to this but with 2 cars. Overall great video! I’ll be subscribing now to your channel!

Nice glimpse at certainly an unusual train! Is there much of a narrow gauge network there, or just the one line? The train (can a single car unit be called a "train"?) does look a bit out of proportion!
Evidently there’s around 777 miles of metric gauge in Spain with most of it in the north of Spain. Now, you raise an excellent question, can this truly be called a train. Erm, I hadn’t thought about that. Maybe just a car?

I didn't spend very much time in Los Nietos but it seemed pleasant enough. The rail link to Cartagena is useful.
