Gran Turismo 7 I DIRTY Drivers are RUINING Sport Mode!

- So with no GT7 Update coming this week & some spare time on my hands I decided to take a jump into GT7 Sport Mode for one of the more interesting Gr.3 Sprint races with Daily Race B at Laguna Seca.
However I soon found out why I'd rather race with my community as the lobby soon turned into a complete disaster with ramming, spinning & drama at every corner on the opening lap a charge back up the grid was on the cards until the very end when one of the most intentional moves I've ever seen as a driver tries to end out race with only a few corners to go

I can't stand playing against ppl like that just ruins the fun of the game. I can see it happening accidentally but on purpose there should be a way the player either gets kicked out or even banned for a month to teach them a lesson. Just my opinion

I've only done a couple of races at Laguna Seca this week, exactly because of this. Love that track too.
Daily race C at LeMans has been brilliant imo. Dynamic weather, everyone bump drafting each other. I've done 6 races at Sarthe and not had 1 punt/ram.
monday was terrible on race c. Once people got their head around it, it was amazing. Had a few wins and plenty of top 5s
I was rammed right off the corkscrew on my way to a podium finish and the fool didn't even get a penalty. Put me back 4 positions and absolutely killed my motivation to race that track again. It happens quite a bit and i share the frustration. Still a fun game though and really makes you appreciate those races where others are not brake checking or playing bumper cars.
Hope you get well soon mate! And about the video, this is the exact reason why I pretty much stopped playing sport mode. Back in the days I used to play it almost daily, nowadays it's a couple races per month at most, if even. I enjoy the racing itself, but the dirty drivers just ruin the experience for me (and many others I'm sure). Plus the penalty system is still stupid and feels random at times. You barely touch a guy and get a 8 sec penalty out of nowhere. But when some other guy rams into you at full speed and sends you a mile into the sand he only gets 3 seconds? With how unfair the penalty system is sometimes (combined with the toxic drivers) I just can't be bothered anymore.
same as that just don't play sport now at all... I know it's impossible to police so they get away with it... shame people gotta cheat to try win
This is why i start at the back and let everyone kill each other. If someone is gaining on me and is a faster driver i just lift off the throttle on the straights and let them pass. You are better off following faster drivers. Its more rewarding to have a clean race than a dirty win!
just did a race today, starting 3rd... ending last, pushed out of the track by at least 3 different players. i worked my way to catch players in front of me, two of them have quit the game when i overtook them. the third car i catched just pushed me out once again.
i have no words really... they all did on purpose, not by accident.
I had a crazy race at Le Mans daily race C. I started on pole leading up to the mulsane straight and this guy named Jackhammer tried to put me into the wall while overtaking. I tried to overtake him again using the slipstream but he put me into the wall dropping down to the back of grid but i kept my head down and recovered to 5th by lap 3. Then this jackhammer guy keeps punting people into the wall so I’ll regained 1st place and ended up winning the race. The jackhammer guy eventually quits and after the race i said karmas😂
I don’t bother. Much rather race with the A.I on expert. I have to wait 15 mins for a race to start and then risk wasting my time because someone decides to disregard track etiquette and play their own game.
I know the feeling. I am pretty new to the game not the greatest Racer. Especially since I do not use a steering wheel. A normally finish online race around 8 to 10th. But the other day I made a great qualifying time I started in 5th. I worked my way up to 3rd go to pass 2nd on the straight. He kinda lets me pass and then he pits maneuvers me. Oh yeah that was the last lap too so I went from 3rd all the way to last
The issue seems to be with the SR rating system. Some like to drive more rough, and to each their own, but they belong in a different lobby. Demolition Derby’s aren’t for me either. It’s tough thing to fix. When GT Sport first rolled out, the SR rules were very strict, and PD pulled back because folks were getting penalized for things that weren’t their fault.
This is why sport mode makes me sad 😞
I think a good deterrent would be if someone racks up numerous penalties in many races that cause accidents, that they would have to watch a video before the next race about being a safer driver.
3 races on there today same every race worked my way back through to mid pack to be taken out again in the last few corners, I'm new to this side of GT7 and online racing in general as I've just brought a wheel in Dec just ruins all the fun.
I still don't get why they don't just have one of the daily races have like SIM Damage. I guess then only 3 cars would finish the race lol! Laguna was kind of a mess, but im having a far worse time with deep forest gr 4 this week... 1 out of 10 races is clean... lol
I'm pretty much a beginner and wanted to start online racing. So far in about 3 races I've done terrible. I stay up with the pack but someone always rams me into the barrier causing me to lose position and contact with the pack. I usually end up way behind the last car and far from the pack. Very discouraging.
Same here but I learn to improve my qualify time and start in the top 5 , that have really helped a lot
I think it's hilarious how the P14 always thinks he is the fastest, even with the slowest qualified lap time and will pretty much ram everyone out of the way only to end up dead last 🤣
that was remarkably clean compared to the lower DR rank races, I rarely do daily races at all

Im torn on getting PSVR because I feel like GT7 online isn't going to compare to iRacing with the rammers and idiots.
So enjoyed the video, and thanks for putting the time in, even when you're feeling under the weather. However I disagree with the impression of the racing in Sport mode. I thoroughly enjoy the race and find it interesting afterwards to review my competition as to the amount of time they have put into GT7. Yes there are some idiots, and hopefully karma and penalties help to keep them at bay. It's too bad that so many leave the race right afterwards that you are unable to communicate with them. Also wish I could just speak my answer in rather than needing to type. I so enjoy sport mode. Have only won one race and could write a book about that race.;) Most of the time I qualify in the back and my goal is to get into the top 5, without knocking anyone off. Wish more races had a required pit for fuel and a different lap for tires.

It boils down to a broken and almost non-existent penalty system. People will play according to the conditions provided them. Unfortunately, as good as GT7 is, the penalties are far too soft and there is no referee to sort out the sticky calls and enforce suitable punishments for poor driving and deliberate punting. I think that 90%+ of people playing sport mode are actually trying to do the right thing. Doesn't matter where you are, or what you're doing, there is always a wanker. Human nature, we can't help ourselves.
Yep, gt sport mode i stay away from, too many nobheads in there who either don't know the rules of motorsport or dont care or just treat it like a need for speed/mario kart game

I never play pvp now, I've just no time for it. After being t-boned over and over again and then you get penalised for off the track not for me thanks no fun or competition in that

Hmm I'm sorry bud but sound a little salty, an alternate view:
Jaguar coming back on the track to straight line the corner is fair, he gave you room on the outside, where did you want him to go? He decided to park it on the apex like he parked it on the chicane... In a longer race this is largely irrelavent as he'll be in the slow anyway. Also don't forget his tyres are dirty, if he did push it, he will drift out, like on the next corner.
2nd thing to note, on the first lap, going in 2 by 2 on the chicane is adventurous, I think that is a single file corners as if not, it tends to lead to a constantine effect (ie crashes). Same in real life, its a risky overtake, and overtakes needs to be done before the chicane ideally...
It looks like the lobby you're in is in the lower ranks. I typically need to climb to A/S rank to get some decent online players, anything below this is a common bumper cars scenario really. You can climb the ranks without being on podium etc, just need to run more races and the points will increase naturally.

Dirty drivers ruin the game, I dont care for sport mode anymore, I just want to put different engines in different cars. I may have to buy an xbox just to play forza
