I personally think part of the reason Kessel is here is to support and mentor the young guys that may get the call up if injuries arise. Other than conditioning, he pushes the guys that deserve a call up to better themselves to take his spot, a player with triple Stanley Cup pedigree.
The way I see it is....there's really nothing to lose with the Kessel thing, like we most likely will have him there as the 13th 14th forward in case someone gets injured or something, and for some reason I still believe he has a good shot in him so you never know maybe when we need a really pivotal timely goal maybe he will be the one to deliver that.
Is there anybody in the current Canuck lineup who is worse than what Kessel is? The guy is 39, slow and out of shape. Tell me Bains or Podkolzin or Karlsson aren’t better than Kessel right now.
