I would give an arm and a leg for a 24-105 f/2.8. The "missing" 4mm would hurt me a lot at weddings. 😢

If Sony won't make it, then Sigma will. Hope it's internal zoom. Canon has an amazing video lens. Sony should update their PZ 28-135mm and make it f2.8.

@@Pontcher Yeah having an external zoom with a matte box is just annoying. Planning to buy more cameras for streaming like the FX30 with the 18-105mm f4 PZ lens (27-157mm f6 equivalent) as a cheaper alternative to my A7SIII and buying the PZ 28-135mm f4 OSS G lens which is pretty pricey.

They should but with sigma doing a 28-105 the should do a 24-135 f2.8 or a 24-105 to replace the f4 version

    • @Bo_Hazem
      @Bo_Hazem หลายเดือนก่อน

@@Bobdrumbro I really hope so, even though the PZ FE 28-135mm f4 OSS G is a solid lens but it's old and still pricy for f4. PZ is amazing but would trade that for f2.8 myself if it is what pushing it down to f4. An FX30 with the PZ E 18-105mm f4 OSS is a poor man's alternative, solid as well and budget friendly.

If it were smaller and lighter than the Panasonic 24-105, it might complement my Sigma 16-28mm for my S9. Of course, the price and image quality would have to be right. But that will not be a problem with Sigma lenses.

I think it is great that Sigma is pushing traditional boundaries. It would have to perform better - and be no larger - than the current Sony 24-70/2.8 GM II for me to be interested; as the 24 end is equally or more important than the extra 35 on the long end, but if it performs it could certainly be interesting for travelers looking for a versatile lens that performs a bit bette forr travel portraiture. Am hoping to see them release that Sigma 10-24/4...

I had a messenger talk with Mr. Yamaki about two years ago. I proposed an extended holy trinity f/2.8 trio of 12-24/2.8 an 28-105/2.8 and the reworked 120-300/2.8. I was telling him that i have in my possession the old Tamron 28-105/2.8 (which is optically mediocre) but these focal lengths combined with art quality would provide an excellent all-around lens.
He looked very interested then. Well...he delivered!

I'm hoping Sony tries their hand at a versatile focal length zoom, f2.8 or below - the 28-135mm f4 PZ is fairly long in the tooth. Either way, between this, the Tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8 and the upcoming 28-180 f2.8, lots of great options for that now.

I would love to see sony try a 24-85mm lens. Make it a 2.8-4 aperture for a G lens.
The good old minolta 28-135mm lens was also legendary. If sony make a new version again. Make it 35-135 and f2.8-f4 as a G lens. It would be very cool to have as a versatile lens for portrait.
The tamron 35-150mm is very nice. But it is also quite big as well. Trying to capture indoor group portrait with 35mm is not as easy with a 24mm lens. Traditionally something like the 24-70mm GMII. When I am using two camera bodies, it is still better to use a 24-70mm GMII and 70-200mm GMII

when i discovered the Tokina 28-105 i felt in love with the idea of such a lens.
unfortunately that lens produces very busy out of focus backgrounds - and it's a f-ing tank
i'm hoping for smooth backgrounds, able to handle higher res Sensors.
if Sigma manages to have no fatal flaws and keep size and weight below Panasonics 24-70 2.8 this might get very tempting - especially with a S1R successor or maybe even an S5R?!...
this would be a fun combo

There is no such thing as a perfect lens, but this Sigma could come close because for reportage and travel photography, a 28-105 f2.8 can be almost perfect (with APS-C mode it can go up to 157mm). You don't need anything else between this and the 16-25 f2.8 (unless you want to take photos of animals in nature).
What's the problem? The price and, above all, the size and weight of that 28-105. If these two things are resolved well, I would buy it.

  • @Wildridefilms

With the existing 35-150 lenses from Tamron(E,Z) and Samyang (E,L) I don't see this lens being very useful unless it is significantly smaller and lighter.
The 28mm on the wide end needs to be supplemented with an UW zoom for most people anyway, just like with the 35-150. Additionally the 35mm f2 on those lenses are a real advantage.
Was much more interested in the rumoured 17-55 f2.8, as that essentially eliminates the need for a 16-35 and a 24-70. Complemented with a 70-200 and you can shoot almost anything.

I keep fingers crossed for Sigma, to outperform Sony.
It's UNBELIEVABLE how lazy Sony is to release lenses... I don't think they even listen to the customers.
    Sigma releases everything for everyone..
    - Portrait shooting 50 mm f1.2
    - Weedings 28-105 f2.8
    - Wildlife - *lightweight* 500 mm f5.6
    - Sport photography - 70-200 mm f2.8
WHERE THE FQ IS SONY?! What are they doing?! It's not 100$ company!
LOOK HOW MANY *IMPORTANT LENSES* SIMA RELEASED JUST *IN ~1 YEAR!!!!!* (except the new one that will come 28-105 but still... will be at least announced...)
Sony has problems to update their 2 base lenses for wildlife 100-400 and 200-600 to decrease weight and update lens glass + add AF XD motors
Sony has problems to update their 85 mm f1.4 on time, they can't manage 85 mm f1.2 that even canon and nikon has.
Sony has problems to update their 90 mm macro lens which also work on old AF motors and macro scale is only 1:1.
Sony has problems with doing such lenses like 24-105 f2.8... fixed 600 mm f6.3 and more.
Sony has problems with update their best compact camera, such as RX1R II and people yell, they want Mark III model...
Sony has problems with update RX100 VII for VIII version which could make good sales IF will be treated *seriously* and not only small fixes and small updates but really big ones.
People also as for update for RX10IV, which also could be astonishing even for their last and final update, we have times where if you put all technology to that small sensor this camera COULD BE A BANGER (global sensor, AI features, macro focus bracketing, good glass, zero chromatic abberation, pre-capture with like 50-100 fps) and adding a space for 3rd party accesories at front of the lens..
And this is just ridiculous, because what now? They will release 5 lenses in 2025, and 5 cameras in 2025 at once?
