    Reading the comments - I'm with mixed feelings. On the one hand, it's quite refreshing to see the public finally opening their ears and actually hear what's happening. The story of King Midas has been taking place for quite some time. Too much time. Now I feel sorry for Anna - I actually really do. I used to be one of her most stern critics. Now I see things slightly differently - she's been a truly nice artist in the past. A lyric soprano - and quite a nice one. Whoever made her or let her go into drammatic repertoire, didn't do her a favor. Nor to the opera, nor to opera fans. I don't know why this happened - been arguing with her ardent fans from around the globe, who wouldn't hear anything but "she's amazing - she's an angel": sorry, but she isn't. And going blindly behing a disaster on stage, clapping in awe, doesn't make things better. Now there's a sh*tstorm coming for her, the more she ages and looses her main weapons - charm and good looks. But this problem was apparent years and decades ago - and there was noone to stop her ruin her voice and career. And that's really, really sad to me. Bottom low quality of critics and audience.

      For that she doesn't need her husband's help anyway. She does a good job of being her own worst enemy and damaging her own career singing Tosca like this. OMG! Montserrat Caballe also got married to a less-than-star tenor (Bernabe Marti), and she pushed him maybe harder than Madame Netrebko pushes this dude. But Caballe was an undisputed star singer of the Century who will go into history - so that promoting hubby couldn't have damaged her career. The great sopranos of the last Century often had to sing next to some poor tenors - try some of Sutherland's tenor partners, especially live performances. If anything, a poor tenor helps puts the soprano in a BETTER light, enhancing her, not damaging her. And if a soprano says "you take me, you take my husband for tenor" then it is the artistic management, not the soprano who makes bad casting decisions and showing poor judgement, not the diva.

      What I dont understand, why are you saying, that she is damaging her career herself?

    • @theon9575
      @theon9575 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      pininfarina rossa Thank you. 1. Tenors are not known for their modesty, LOL. They are unlikely to say "Look, I just don't think I'm good enough to sing with this star singer, and so I'm stepping aside so you can find a better tenor". 😆
      2. I was afraid that you might ask me that about Netrebko. I saw your view of her 😍, but I disagree completely. I thought that this was not a good performance, and her Tosca here leaves me cold. This very famous star soprano seems to divide opinion like this - those who think she is the goddess of the day, and others like me who think she is very ordinary, could use some coaching for developed faults from a strong teacher. She's as good as many in opera houses in Germany, but not a "star". This performance is an example. I don't like to write lots of criticism, and won't here - I already criticised as you see above. But I strongly suggest that you read comments above yours to see examples of criticism. Then do an overview of the many other Netrebko vids here on You Tube and read other criticisms, especially of her vocal technique. It's like claques in an Italian opera house, she's either the greatest soprano star of the moment, or else her singing is bad. And it seems to be a divide between 'oldies' like me who have heard the real stars, and younger people who think she's fantabulous. And the oldies say, that's because younger people have never really heard good singing and don't understand technique (eg breathing technique, Madame Trebenko 😱). And youngers say that we oldies are just being pedantic and technical. It's interesting. But play Callas' version of this aria, and then this ... it's the difference between a genius goddess, and an also-ran (who is not having a good day, as Netrebko is not here.). And seats to a Netrebko performance are amazingly expensive for what you get. I would have sold my mother to hear Callas sing this. That's the difference.

    Anna is so frustrating to me. She is singing so heavy and dark in her lower and middle voice that it is like a bellows-wobbly and the worst caricature of an opera singer. But then you get to the end and she lightens the sound above the staff, and there are remnants of the glittering voice that made her famous decades ago. It’s still there, and she could use it throughout her voice to extend her career and have a much more beautiful sound. I heard her in SF in Traviata more than a. decade ago, just after she had her baby and before all this heavy wobble started to happen. She filled the hall with her voice amply and easily-so there’s no need for her to sing into her resonances, bellow and manufacture a big sound, it’s already there. It’s sad because she can be captivating on stage.

    • @danielemodenese
      @danielemodenese 3 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      I totally agree with you. The sense of frustration is so big with Anna. She literally doesn't give a sh*t about singing the correct repertoire for her, as long as they pay her and continue to sell her as this "great diva" that she desperately wants to be. Every time I see one of her new performances I go back to her Traviata in Salzburg and even if she was not perfect (she wasn't a coloratura and she is not now) she really embodied Violetta and managed to capture the attention of the viewer. But where is that Anna? As you said, the light top notes are still there near intact. I just really don't understand why she continuing in ruining her career like this, like, where is your artistic integrity? I don't accept money as an excuse. I even remember an old documentary where she said she is light lyric soprano and she could have not sing big roles like Tosca, but here she is, so apparently she doesn't think like that anymore. In addition to that, why does she push his boyfriend so much? He's not even a real opera singer. And it's all so frustrating knowing that there are many great opera singers out there and she takes all the top spots in the big theatres only for being... Her.
      Moreover, I know that we were talking about her voice but, how can she not speak a word of Italian after a 20-year career singing prevalently in italian? I don't know but I think that's another point in showing how shallow she really is: how could you even portrait a character if you don't know the language and the meaning of what the character sings!?

      I have always had a liking for opera but for reasons I won 't belabor Ms. Netrebko made me fall in love with opera, starting with "I Puritani" at the Met in 2007, later at SF Opera in "La Traviata." Unfortunately, I believe her potential has been undermined by a sort of a paradox, her very own popularity. She sells tickets, can sing pretty much anywhere, and takes on too many roles that don't fit. Early on, I realized she was no Callas or Sutherland, well nobody is, but when I watch a video of a 25-year-old Renata Tebaldi in this very same opera singing "Vissi D'arte" well the difference speaks for itself. Ms. Netrebko doesn't come close. I will always have some affection for her, having seen her in person her voice is rather sizable, when she was younger she performed with zeal and abandon, she made my late terminally ill mother smile. I will always be grateful for that but I wish she took time off, studied, and came back MUCH MORE SELECTIVE!

      Товарищ...; Верь! Взойдёт она; Звезда пленительного счастья; весь мир воспрянет ото сна, и на обломках серовластья вновь засверкают Имена.
      Вот что случилось. Все погрязли в удобной серости своего бытия. Те кто нашли свои ниши в искусстве; театре, кино будут там находиться до «победного конца». Только искусством это уже не назовешь. Есть таланты, есть голоса, но мы о них не знаем, им ходу не дают. А человеческая природа такова что ей всегда мало. Только сильные духом способны принимать правильные решения. А наш век не отличается особой духовной силой в искусстве. Идёт Закат. Во всем. И закулисные интриги. Остаётся только надеяться.

      @jobeshufe06 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      La voz de la Netrebko va en declive, el engolamiento se hace más evidente y su sobreesfuerzo en muchos pasajes. Todo esto debido a su mala técnica de canto y el repertorio que no es para ella. De su esposo Eyvazov... ni qué decir. Toda la obra no es para ellos. Esta es la razón. Y sobre todo, sus voces solo se escuchan en las plateas y no al fondo del teatro, que debería oírse.
      Por ello los que conocen claman a voces vivas voces como Tebaldi, Mario del Monaco, Antonieta Stella, Franco Corelli y compañía, porque sus voces tenían potencia y sin necesidad de esforzar o sobreoscurecer (hasta llegar a engolar) las notas que cantaban.
