The first person to hold this belt was Harley Race in 1973 Dory Funk was NWA chamion but he never held this belt & it was retired in 86 for the Big Gold and was brought back after the WcW - NWA split.
I have had the pleasure of holding the real belt that you are showing. It was in Kansas City when Rick Flair went up against Harley Race for the tittle. I was in a group home for boys and one of the councilors was friends with Harley Race. It was my birthday and I got to meet both wrestlers and had a picture taken back stage with them while I was holding the belt. I was about 17 teen back then. I was a huge Harley Race fan but now I am a Huge fan of Flair Race and Rodes.
Well, on the same night in '83 that Flair beat Race in the cage to win his second NWA Title, Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood defeated Jack and Jerry Briscoe for the NWA World Tage Team Title, and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper defeated Greg "The Hammer" Valentine in a Dog Collar Chain Match to win the NWA United States Heavyweight Title.
I was born in '79, and I've been a fan of wrestling fan since I was 8 years old. I believe this version of the NWA World Title was around since '75, but I loved watching Flair and Race in the cage for this title in '83 at the 1st Starrcade. Awesome replica belt. I salute you sir. :-)
Well, here's a little bit of history of Starrcade at the Greensboro Coliseum: Starrcade '83, '84, and part of the '85 and '86 cards were at Greensboro, with the other part of the '85 and '86 cards were held at the Omni in Atlanta, GA. Starrcade '87 was at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, IL. The main events all involved Ric Flair. ;-)
that's an awesome belt. I just ordered mine and will get it soon. gonna get that signed by Ric Flair in a couple of weeks as well as my winged eagle signed by Flair and Kevin Nash
Great belt I have one myself sad ajsbelts lied and the belt is not on real leather but vinyl instead and in time it cracks through the screws. But over all great belt perfect with a releather specially with the double lacing
True I just brought a replacement strap off ebay I will do my best to keep this one in great shape sadly I notice there's also some marks on the plates around the wording like some of the words have black paint on it covering the gold I can see one on yours as well. I do a full detail vid on mine as soon as I replace the strap.
Ok u r right about the people like Flair Rhodes Funk and that but that belt is nowhere near close to the real one and that strap is not leather I have one to be real or as close as you can get go to fig inc best one out there that not even close
awesome belt. i had a chance to purchase a similar belt but i passed on it. the only reason i didnt buy it was because i grew up on wwf and thats all i knew until wcw came along. Of couse now being older i know of all the companies but still it doesnt quite get my attention.

Is the strap durable? Also does the belt have some weight to it?
